The wedding favours like in the picture that Rosekitten posted, or any wedding favours for that matter! lol

I was worried about halving them in case they frayed?

Sorry Sal, didn't realise those were favours, they must be quite small then?

Like Rosekitten said, if they are not meant to be opened and like favours, for show only, it would't really matter if you cut them, I would then cut up a cheap towel in strips, fold the fraying bits to the inside and use a gluegun to hold the 3 tiers together

I found you instructions on how to make the silk roses, you can buy the little ones from a craftshop

    http://www.cynthiahoweminiatures.com/ribbonroses.htm

or this one for bigger ones: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/howtomakribr.html

here is where you can buy big quantities of ribbon, not looked at the prices per metre but should be cheaper than getting it from a craftshop:

http://www.midpac.co.uk/shop/ribbon/double-faced-satin/ (just looked at the prices, although they work out quite cheap per metre, their delivery is £8  why do they do that?? it puts people off buying, well it does me!!

Made 2 muffins for DD's gymnastics coach last night, it was her birthday and she is always on about how much she loves muffins..
I made her a pink one and a white one, and added some ess. oil on a cotton wool ball in the middle of the muffin (hidden) so they smelled of strawberry and vanilla. She was over the moon.. wanted to lick them...

LOL!! That worked out good then??

    GREAT!!!
  • I went into my local charity shop today and found three miniature crochet hats, the sort that would probably fit one of those dolls meant for adults. They look new and cost 25p each. The hats have a brim so I'm thinking of using them as a muffin case!

Do you think we're getting sadder and sadder by the day?
  • I totally love this thread... Ive made some lovely things.

I have now perfected the towel elephant and monkey.

Im going to make my friend the elephant in blue supersoft towels and wrap with cello and a big bow... she will love it.

The monkey can also be adapted to be a chicken also....

Those wedding favours if you think about it
another way to keep the cost of making
them down. The 20p face cloths in Tesco
and Asda, they also do matching hand towels
for 85p.You could easily cut one of these
up to make around 5 or 6 of these.
with careful folding you need not worry about
frayed edges. If you folded the base from an
8 inch square and then cut another square
into two pieces.I would be tempted to cut
the second square by cutting off a third
for the top layer.I think this is one of those
trial and error things regarding size
but once perfected the effect would be good.

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments and suggestions. I know it needs a little work, but can you start to see my vision?;)
Are you thinking of 'padding' (that's not the right word really) it out with a few leaves and blooms??
