    Thanks poppy.

About the ageing look...........my son went to art college and always swore that coffee, good and strong, was the best thing to use but I belong to a card making group and when I started they were kind enough to send me some bits and pieces to get me going. One lady sent me a piece of music from a magazine (new) and she'd tore it round the edges and sponged it with tea........well think she said she used the tea bags. It had a lovely effect. Haven't tried it myself yet though. When I've bought reproduction adverts and framed them for home I've done them with wood dye and made it blotchy here and there so it looked like rust marks........well supposed to anyway. But someone else I knew put french polish on (the sort you get in the bottle from DIY shops) and he put endless layers on so it looked really dark and old.
I think whatever you use it pays to glaze it to protect it. What you''re doing sounds like a good idea.
Oh............I could do something like that with a Memory Box I was going to do to put my Dad's personal bits and pieces in.

I shall miss everyone while I''m away. I used to love going to see Mum but over this past year she's deteriated and the last three times I've been she hasn't even opened her eyes. Still we'll see how she is when I get there. At least I'm staying with my friend while I'm there so that'll give me a much needed lift

Thanks mary43, think we have gone off on a tangent here:rotfl:

Hehe... thanks for posting that great website Ive got loads more projects to do now.... oh no!

Im a card crafter too... Im making my Mum an oriental style mothers day card, using a screen template and decoupage... Im putting all sorts of facts on the screen panels about mothers day in a scrap book type of way, Hope it turns out well.

Rosekitten - I am in awe. You are so talented! I have no hope of being able to do all these wonderful things but love clicking on this thread to see what you have created next! Thankyou

its often easier than it looks
    that spray of flowers was
    almost 5ft long we were
quoted £150 and it was all
    carnations and green foliage.

We took the kids off to Asda
& Tesco bought all the flowers
it was somewhere near £40 for all
the flowers the Oasis block underneath
was set in a green plastic tray
it was £4.76.Then we went to the
local park and cut some bits of
greenery for it.then everyone just got
stuck in and started putting in flowers
it was a lot easier than we thought
and the end result is lovely

There is quite a mark up on price
in flower shops for this type of thing.
Can you imagine what we would have
been charged for this same spray
    in a flower shop ?

I will be thinking of you while
your visiting your mum and hope it goes
OK for you.Sounds daft but try singing
I used to do this when my mum was like this
its not an easy visit for you.
    Big hugs

I have read this thread and got some fab ideas ,thanks.

On the hunt of your plastic strawberries ,
please don't quote me on this, but I am sure somewhere in the back of my mind I can remember my florist wholesaler stopping selling fruit that was life like eg same size as real fruit .
I think it was due to some EU ruling regarding children trying to eat them , I know years ago they were one of my best selling line's and over the years have just vanished from the wholesalers ,will defo enquire when I next visit and get back to you all.

    thanks for that

I could quite believe the kids trying to
eat them safety angle.I know when I
have been looking on the net they
are mostly sold as stage props etc
and as a result tend to be more expensive

It would be great if you could check your
florist suppliers because ours shuts at 9 am
I am going to give it another go this Saturday.
It trades within the fruit market and can only
stay open while the Market is open.As this is
a wholesale market for shop keeper, hotels etc
its open in the early hours of the morning.

yes thats the one have you been ?

my other half was not best pleased
as for some reason its like Siberia
there, when ever you go and the
    promise of a delicious bacon
    sandwich in the cafe there
could not be used as a sweetener
as the cafe is in the market too.

sokroos2.jpghere's my attempt at the sock roses.

I mixed them with a small bouquet of real white roses.

I'm quite chuffed with the results to be honest.. ;-)
