Ahh that's a brilliant link, thanks, just wish I'd seen it before Christmas as my son and I made sweets for the grans, and those star or snowflake ones would have been brilliant!! :rolleyes:Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Hi i have to say that they all look fab a really good idea. I make loads of things and am very creative df always mocks yet everyone else walks in and goes 'wow where did you buy that' etc!! think it's a man thing they are only jealous as they can't do it lol.
Quick question what else do you all put with the flannels in terms of soap etc..otherwise it's just a flannel isn't it?
Look forward to seeing more on this thread as there are some lovely ideas.0 -
Has anyone tried the chocolate moulds from that site? I might get my OH to treat me for my Birthday! I like the animal ones, I want to do a 'piggy' hamper for my SIL so they look good.
So if anyone knows how to make a flannel look like a piggy....!

What an amazing explosion of creativity using household textiles there has been on this thread in the last few days!
I am also getting slightly obsessed - I was lying awake in bed last night thinking up variations on the theme for my Mum who is a gardener. Could I somehow make a bunch of flowers for her using green gardening gloves to look like leaves? What could the rosebuds be made out of?
I like the ideas using towels and dishcloths/teatowels, as not everybody uses flannels. Those bunnies are brilliant!0 -
In homebase yesterday I got packs of 6 small cake like candles in the shapes of holly leaves down to 15p less 10% day offer.
Thought these would be great of these flannel cakes for next year0 -
ok I am the most unartistic person ever lol & i'm so inspired to make some of these. I can't wait ti nip to tesco later & see what i can get. Absolutely loving the dishcloth, teatowel bunny, he looks fantastic. not sure I will be brave enough to share pics lol but keep coming with the ideas. I'm loving them

I had some new white towels sitting in a box so I whipped them out and practised makeing a towel cake.
It came out quite nice so far!
Just nipping into town this afternoon for some little things i still need but I'm not unhappy with the result so far. I just need something to sit it on now.. like a cake bottom or so..
I'll post a picture later when it's finished. THanks for the inspiration so far!

Well, went around town but came up with nothing..
I couldn't find what I was looking for and my youngest daughter had a tummy ache so I couldn't really go for a long and good look. And then I found that my favorite market stall that sells loads of ribbon and buttons and pins and such wasn't there either... and my mood was gone to the dogs!
Did come up with an idea though..
Instead of using flanels for cupcakes.. you could also use microfibre cloths. They are really popular here in Holland for cleaning, they are pretty cheap, nive and fluffy, and two or three rolled up together gives you a nice 'body'.
So if the stores are out of flanels due to this thread.. you might try microfibre cloths. But Hurry though.. before there's a running frenzy on them and all! :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Primark have loads of flannels in 4 for £1.50 in cake colours ie brown, cream and caramel.0
