365 Day 1p Challenge 2021

  • Hi All

Very late to the party but I would like to join with the idea of saving for next Christmas.

I have set up my pot and chart and made back dated payments to 1st November, I'm going to go with the random payments method depending on what coins are in my purse rather than making them in order (ie 1p on day 1, 2p on day 2, etc), so hopefully I'll have the full £667.95 by the end of October 2022.

I also save £2 coins and put £1 away for every toiletry item I use up (don't ask, I have a huge stash from previous spendy ways!) so lots of little bits of saving that I barely notice as well as the big items like OPs on the mortgage.

And done! So pleased to have finished this - that should take care of Christmas gifts and my hunt for a compact Air Fryer as a Christmas present for me!

  • Number 16 checking in for the last time...it's been a great challenge, thank you! I haven't decided yet if I'm going for it next year or not.
Finished a little earlier as the money will come in handy for Christmas. I've attached a picture of my colour coded list as I'm pretty chuffed I made it to the end 😄
    Hope everyone is doing well!

I saw a great article via Facebook where the amount is rounded up to £55.67 (which is the total divided by twelve and then rounded up - so you actually save something like 9p extra!) or I might do 5p extra on the first month and then just £55.66 for the rest of the year to get the exact amount - and then any spare change I accumulate will be extra! That's my plan for next year.
