Dipping my orange toes into the water..

  • Two more days off holidays and it is back to work time. I will be full time on one school this year so will be interesting to see what my salary is. There are lot of calculators to work it out but they seem out of date so will just wait for my payslip in September. Hoping it a decent amount more which I can then chuck at this giant mortgage..
Whenever I daydream about buying a bigger house I remind myself how much I hate having a mortgage the size it already is, let alone bigger!
  • I love caravans as they can be really cute. So I am sure it's all going well.

I long for one of those VW campers. But a friend had an original one and it is always breaking down..
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ha ha @powerspowers yup those 2s are coming! Yes it's been a great summer, thank you. Caravan was much better than expected, a bit like a mini centre p*rcs lodge. We got upgraded which helped!
I always love the thought of those VW's @LadyWithAPlan too, they just look so gorgeous! My brother drove round Europe in one when he was younger and it broke down constantly, so that had always put me off!

Bank holiday time! We are staying in a caravan for the first time ever. Place is called Sandy balls 😂😂😂😂
Sharing with friends to save money and I'm pleasantly surprised. Bedrooms are tiny, but living room and kitchen are quite spacious and all very new looking. So pleased we didn't opt for a lodge as they look like they need a refresh and were £2000 for the bank holiday!! (We paid £800 so £400 each). Have a great weekend everyone!

I've driven past Sandy Balls many a time, OT, - not far from me - I'm such a child, I snigger everytime!
    2014 starting mortgage £165,000
2015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in full
    Current outstanding balance - £115,856

  • @Chiglepig not sure anyone can drive past without laughing!!
  • So September update time....!!
    Mortgage total - £301,420.33
Total reduction this year - £28,578.67
Total needed to hit goal - £1,420.33

    Daily interest - £14.47

Gah wish I had a spare £1000 to clear that annoying last bit but the exciting news is, next month we will hit out target and finally see those elusive 2s!

Back at school now. Head hurts from information overload but feeling optimistic for a great year ahead in my new role.
  • So overpayment of £420.34 made meaning the new total is..
    300,999.99
  • Went to a local fête today. Lovely to be able to have these event again. Gave the DDS £3 each to spend and the little one walk around every stall three times before choosing something because she didn't want to spend any money! 😂 Long may that attitude last 💗
