Happy half term all!
Manic first half term but a lovely Masters graduation and a just back from a week in Greece.
Had house valued and came back as expected which is good.
Thinking of moving to a small town with a station where houses are a better investment....
Hard though as mortgage is now £206,985 so we are getting close to onerderland and it is hard to imagine increasing the mortgage...

Ooh I understand your dilemma. I’m putting off house improvements because the only solution is to increase the mortgage and I just want it gone. Are there any other reasons to move other than investment?2017 - mortgage of £140,000 and interest rate of £10 a day

I can see that. I was a teenager in a village and really wanted to be in the town. I now live in the town but one of my teenagers wants to spend her time in the village I grew up in. So we’re still doing the driving teens around but in the opposite direction from my parents when we were young! It does mean however mine can go to the shops, cinema, train station to the city with minimal input from us. I think they appreciate it. It also means, if they want, there might be the option to stay at home at University stage which is an option I didn’t have due to the additional travel it would have required.
Difficult decision.2017 - mortgage of £140,000 and interest rate of £10 a day

Thanks @AgathaSquirrel no further with decision making as DH has had a job interview. If he gets it it will likely influence us as if we move to the town it would also be closer to his work.

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... Thanks @LadyWithAPlan yes so close but need to find the interest payment as an OP to make it by next month...not the ideal time to try and do that with Christmas!
Feel that I am already broke this month and haven't bought any presents yet!1 -
