I've just bunged a little extra across so have tidied £20 in total this month :)
I'm sorry to hear about your dog Naomim :(
And hurrah Fidelia and 2Scratters for another month! I totally agree with enjoying the lovely feeling of being able to save little bits rather than scrabble for every penny to pay bills.
Pushing the pennies around to try and make pounds...

First June update.  Most of my DDs go out in the first few days of the month so I had several mini-tidies totalling £37.02 for the week.  Annual total now creeping up and stands at £518.06.  I'm really chuffed and send thanks as ever to IrishSean for starting me off on this adventure.  If you're reading this I hope you're OK, Sean, you've disappeared without trace!

Have a lovely June, everyone.  Happy saving.

    Hi Peeps,
this is about chipping away at the old block and certainly does bring the dividends. Being old enough to be around before the internet was invented  and having to bank in the old fashioned way, I (who is a technophobe too) have found that internet banking is a god send for us being more in  control and making good use of technology really does have its bonuses, this really is one of those. I can honestly say this is the easiest way to save and save successfully. For those who are young enough, grasp this and make your money work. Self gratification(smiling to oneself) of these actions to "save" gives you more control too. I am also still happy to pick up loose change off the floor
    Keep those pennies moving.

Snap, 2Scratters!  I agree with everything you said, especially the bit about also being around before the internet was even invented. Me too.   Although I love internet banking and any other online financial  dealings I still get great satisfaction from totting things up and making lists with pen and paper.  I don't 'do' smartphone apps, I haven't a smartphone for one thing as I don't need one so just have the laptop.  Serves my needs perfectly though.  I get annoyed when some of my bank/saving/credit card companies now only offer an app facility for accessing and maintaining accounts.  I've closed 2 and switched elsewhere because of it but I expect, sadly, that will be the  future for all financial transactions.

Well done to everyone who's still here and tidying.  31st December will be here before we know it and we'll all be really pleased with our painless savings.

2nd week of June all done and dusted with a surprising £36 added.  Can't understand how that happened, I expected it to be less but I've double-checked and it's right. Running totals  now £73.02  for June and £554.06 for year.

Have a good week, everyone x

    Hi Peeps,
As I continue to tilly tidy on many accounts I have decided that from my account and the account I run for my son(still don't ask: ) I am going to invest in Premium Bonds for her. If her numbers win will just invest it back in her account. As its another 10years before her 21st I'm hoping its generous. We also have a change tin where any amount of money is collected. We usually help our local shop keepers by exchanging small money up which helps us have money available if needed. I do save £2 coins though for no particular reason other than they fit into a savings pot called black jack. It is very old and works as it should, it was donated to me by sons GF where she had inherited it from a special gentleman. As she does not save  and it was old, I was her first port of call
We can do this peeps, I remember there was a person on MSE somewhere and their signature was "every penny is a prisoner". Remember that

I have decided as part of the tilly tidying and to keep the momentus going each £25 I get into my GD account and also from her dad I will turn it into savings with NS&I premium bonds. That should hopefully give a better return than normal savings unless things changed dramatically. I've also discovered as a Grandparent I can start a pension fund for her and she's only 11
    Keep going every one

Good idea about Premium Bonds, Scratters.  I'm a fan too, given interest rates are so dire elsewhere.  My Tilly money is in an interest-making account but it's only likely to be a pittance.  The account allows 3 withdrawals a year without loss of interest though so I'm waiting until end of June until I make my first withdrawal and putting the lot  into PBs. Will be £500+ (doubt I'll reach £600 by then).  I should probably scrap the whole idea of accruing interest and bung the Tilly money into PBs frequently like you're planning to do. I already have a largish PB holding already and seem to have  £25 or £50 wins every month.  Still waiting for Agent Million to come calling but it all adds to  the fun.  I had a huge PPI reclaim payout a couple of years ago and put almost the lot into PBs, £32k in all.  I never touch it, that money is sacrosanct, I'd rather scrimp every day to make sure I never dip into it.

Great news about a pension fund for your GD.  Never too early to start saving for the future is it?  I wish I'd been more financially astute all my long working life.  Miraculously for me (knowing my ineptitude with money) I was in an excellent final salary pension scheme so all turned out right in the end.  If I'd been able to draw down on money saved in my pension pot throughout my life I'd be skint by now!

Latest Tilly Tidy for 3rd week of June was pretty poor, only £10.66 saved this week but anything's better than nothing and it always tails off towards the end of the month anyway. Now £83.68 for June and £564.72 for the year to date.

    Happy saving, everyone!
