Hoping everyone is well and managing to squirrel away all those little money oddments that soon add up to make a difference.

First May update from me.  £46.55 'tidied' in first 11 days of May but most of my DDs go out on 1st of every month so, sadly, there are usually slimmer pickings later in each month.

Managed to add £19.83 this week making £66.38 for May so far and £431.12 for 2021. Planning to spend as little as possible next week so will probably be very slim pickings for my Tilly pot at next weekly update.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

A good week as far as minimal spending goes but it means  I had few uneven oddments to tidy.  Only managed to save £11.64 this week but every little helps.

May's total so far is £78.02. Running total for the year is £442.76  out of a hoped-for target of £1000+.

I'm up to the dizzying heights of £12.57 this month so far! Changed paypal to pay from my card rather than the account so that's helped...a tiny bit. Fidelia, looking not too bad - nearly at your half way target :)

Thanks, Starla xx.  You're doing OK too.  Every little helps (as Tesco's ads were forever telling us) and I'm glad you're still doing the challenge. Keep at it, it's money you wouldn't have saved before you joined.  You're doing a lot better than me with your yearly total to date, over £635 is amazing.   I was thinking, given the lack of posts, that everyone had given up and deserted us so it's nice to have someone else to talk to.  No idea where IrishSean has disappeared to, I hope he and his family are all OK.

By the way, when I was deep in debt (not so very long ago) I never saved a single penny. For years!   Any very rare oddments that I 'found' in any accounts plus loose coins 'down the back of the sofa', even in the street  I had to use to help towards paying for groceries.  Saving is a novelty for me as is having some surplus money to do it with now my debts are all paid off.

I'm still here too, just had a very bad month. My lovely dog passed away suddenly, work is manic and I've not had the time nor inclination to look at the bank account.  I'm cheering you all on though!

@Fidelia what a feeling o:) when the debt has gone, then having to change your mind set to save. This is an easy and instant bit of self gratification when you are moving small amounts of money. You are scratting around to find some "loose change". I still do this, been at it for years. Just done my sons banking and done the same with his piggy banks (used for monthly and annual bills as he still gets paid weekly) I have put the bits into a his daughters savings stash. Done the same with DH business account too, each time I've logged on I do the same. Got a nice little stash in there too. I know these don't attract much interest at all its about getting this into a habit and having it there.
@Naomim you are making great progress on your CC cloud. I've been there. I used to get satisfaction of rounding the balance down each month, even it was under £1, not my problem it was still getting extra. If that is all you do this month it is still done.

It's how I try to view it, every small overpayment gets it gone quicker.

Nice to see you both, 2Scratters and Naomim.

Yep, every little helps and it's lovely to see the saving pot increase even when it's only fed with tiny amounts.  Done regularly though it certainly makes a difference.  I've become a bit OCD now over checking my accounts and transferring oddments whenever any appear!

Really sorry to read the very sad news about your dog, Naomim.  I can understand how you're feeling, I was devastated when our adored cat was run over.  Nothing else in my life seemed to have much relevance, I was like a zombie for months.  Take care of yourself xxx

Signing off May's totals.  Managed to squirrel away £38.28 in last 9 days meaning my May total is now £116.30 which is my best saving month of the year so far.  Can't imagine how that happened as I tried to spend as little and seldom  as possible meaning little scope for any regular oddments to tidy.  Oh well, my bank account doesn't lie, I must be getting forgetful!  Year's total to date now £481.04 so with a bit of luck I should crack my target of £1000+ for the year.

I hope everyone is having a good  Bank Holiday and enjoying the sunshine.  Stay safe xx
