    Good morning all,

I love an Edinburgh Gin, Rhubarb and Ginger, mmmm

Been to the dentist this morning, feel butchered!

    B crunchy nut ss milk

L – asda wholewheat chicken pasta salad I picked up when out, 322kcals

D – marmite mushrooms and chicken

I didn’t have the marmite mushrooms last night, it was soooo hot I didn’t fancy cooking, I ended up having a ham on toast! Totally off plan but filled a hole and within my calories but out of syns!

    Must cook tonight!

Hope the antibiotics are worth it ruby, only two days to go thank goodness. Your bruising is taking a long time to improve too denise. I think a lazy weekend in the sun is called for! 😊

Ouch to the dentist klew. I know it might seem a daft question but can you actually taste the Marmite flavour in the mushrooms? I add Marmite to gravies but then  it just adds to the meaty taste IYKWIM.

WI this morning and STS! I'm thrilled with that. 8 weeks and I maintained perfectly. 😁 I'm really pleased as I'm eating out a couple of times next week so won't need to worry about what I choose from the menu.

I stayed for group and it was very interesting. Consultant said they'd received an update from SW and message is more or less do whatever your group feels comfortable with that's within the new rules from Monday. My group is going to maintain socially distanced chairs unless in a bubble, reinstate SoW basket and raffle and masks will be optional as the room is well ventilated but worn in the communal areas on the way in.  We've moved to a new venue which has a cafe so we won't be having drinks in the SW group any more but can buy a take away coffee if we want to. She didn't say that but I'm guessing as there are no DIY kitchen facilities.  It seems that sending in weights is still possible (although not 100% sure about that as I don't do it so didn't listen to that properly ) and times seem to be reverting to normal and new member talk also reinstated. We don't have to wear flip flops any more for WI but it is recommended as a hygiene measure but socks will be quite acceptable from now on.

She went round the group asking what your favourite Speed or free food was. There weren't many there so we had a good discussion. Ideas ranged from eggs being really versatile and full of protein, through summer berries and watermelon now in season to grated courgettes as an almost invisible way of adding Speed. I chose mushrooms as I eat loads of them. I think they have a chewy, meaty texture so help to keep meat content down. I gave them all the recipe for the creamy, garlic mushrooms too which seemed to go down well. Interestingly when we were talking vegetarian food yesterday, my DH told his sister how much he enjoys mushroom stroganoff. I'm trying to add in a few veggie meals as it's good for the environment as well as keeping costs down.

I've just put Bolognese in the SC. Just a small amount of mince, loads of veg and today I added some lentils too.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash, HEB Puffed Wheat, HEA1 milk
    L- JP (F), cottage cheese (P), pickles, tomatoes (S)
D- Austrian Ham Hash (P,S,F) with HEA2 cheese topping, cauli, broccoli, cabbages (S)
    Syns- 0

I'm sure the bruising is taking a long time because of my age - everything seems to take longer to heal!

There's nothing on the blog yet about what's happening at group which I thought there would have been but maybe that will be next week when the article changes.

Sounds like it was an interesting meeting maman.  My consultant posted on our Facebook page to say that tonight's meeting they'd be looking into Page 2 of the new magazine and discussing it!  Anyone got the magazine to give me a clue what that's all about as I'm not going to group this week!

I remembered to buy some mince this morning when I went shopping so thinking I may well make up a SC of savoury mince with lots of veg and lentils, a bit like your bolognaise maman, but that will have to wait until next week as will need to buy some more veg.   So useful for so many different dishes.

Thought that was interesting about your DH not realising your chilli didn't have meat, it was the same with my DH last night although he said when I told him that he thought it tasted a bit funny and he didn't really enjoy it and only ate it because he was "starving" - he only had his lunch about 2 hours earlier because of being late in from golf!

I'm curious denise. 🤔 I bought the new magazine this morning and Page 2 is part of the SW advert inside the cover which says half price membership for £5. What's the point of existing members discussing that, other than persuading friends to join?

Do you think it's a man thing with meat? Our conversation started yesterday because SIL said they'd eaten too much during lockdown and both had put on weight. She said it wasn't just snacking but too much meat but BIL said he really likes the flavour. I didn't make a big deal out of it. It's not really polite to agree when it's obvious someone has put on weight. 🤣 So I just said I added beef stock for flavour to veggie chilli and DH started praising my Mushroom Stroganoff. That's got balsamic and Worcestershire sauce in it and stock IIRC so maybe that helps.

I've just had another look and she's edited her post!  It says "we may dip into a page or 2 of the magazine" - that makes a bit more sense.  I had a feeling Page 2 was likely to be an advert for SW!

We're both fans of mushroom stroganoff; DH is happy to have veggie food as long as it's not pretending to be meat like I did yesterday!  The problem was he was expecting shepherds pie so I decided that the veggie bolognaise from the freezer was the easiest way to go but maybe with hindsight I ought to have just made something else!  I'm another who adds balsamic and Worcester sauce to lots of thing for flavour.

    Morning all,

The marmite mushrooms I found a bit bland, I think I would probably add a garlic or Worcester sauce or something to spice it up abit if I was doing it again but you could taste the marmite. Filled a hole though!

Ready for the weekend, I feel dipping a toe in the sea might be a good idea too!

    Todays menu

B - fruit and fibre ss milk

L – pasta salad either ham or tuna

D – baked potato beans and cheese and pickles

might treat myself to a bottle of rhubarb and ginger!

Sorry maman I forgot to congratulate you on your STS; well done 👏👏👏.  I weighed this morning and I am back just inside target range again!  Pleased about that as suspect there is going to be a lot of syns this weekend as we are meeting up with "boozy" friends whilst away in the motorhome.  Will definitely need to be cutting back during the week for damage limitation!

    Today's plan:

    B - kedgeree - P; S; F
    L - smoked salmon & cucumber sandwich - HEB; P; S; 3.5
    D - sweet and sour pork; rice - P; S; F; 0.5

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - butter 3.5; cornflour 0.5; weekend wine ???

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all.  Well done on the maintain maman.  Your group definitely sounds interesting.  I'm also a lover of mushrooms but DH hates them.  He does like all of the quorn products but I'm not that big of a fan of some of them, especially the "chicken" pieces 🤢

Half day at work today and I want to sort loads of stuff out but DH has now booked the afternoon off as well and wants to make the most of the weather, which means going somewhere 🙄  Did a workout this morning already so at least that's one thing acomplished!  Had usual ff yogurt with strawberries and granola for breakfast, lunch is going to be a cheese salad and then dinner tonight is a corned beef hash to use up some potatoes and carrots and might chuck a pepper in there as well as it needs using up too!

Hope you all have a good day!
