    Hi all,
I'm still in Cyprus. Dad came home yesterday - battered and bruised but remarkably perky given all he's been through. It's been a challenging few weeks just being here with Stepmum - haven't always had the easiest of relationships and she's very controlling and we are now not able to go anywhere for the foreseeable. Glad that Dad is on the mend though. They removed all the cancer and he has a follow up on Thursday next week. I'm hoping to come back to the UK shortly afterwards - fingers crossed - as DD going back to uni on 20 Sept.
nmm - glad you are getting the boat sorted but OMG to the op being postponed. Hope it goes ahead tomorrow as planned and your OH is soon on the mend xx Lovely cute gift from your friend and what a great swop!
Charly - great PL Dublin update.
I haven't yet managed to get my cross stitch out. Feels slightly anti-social. Mind you, DDad has been reading his paper from cover to cover since he got home!!
    Take care one and all

Coxy, lovely to hear from you, glad your dad is on the mend, i know all about dodgy family relationships so i feel your pain there. I hope you get home in time, i read today that we're scrapping the traffic light system on 1st Oct hopefully that'll make visiting your dad easier in the future.

Hi Nmm and Coxy. You both sound like you’ve got a lot on. Sterling work on the boat. Must be satisfying clearing out the space and making it yours. Love the seagull kit and Welcome sign gift. Best wishes for OH tomorrow must be frustrating gearing yourselves up to find it postponed.
Glad dad has come through what sounds like a pretty gruelling procedure. Sounds really awkward with step mum. Families are complicated for sure. Get your cross stitch out might help the blood pressure. Hope you get back before 20th.
Done a little bit on PL Dublin each night. Back at work with a bang so feeling a bit lit stepped back on the hamster wheel. Been looking into retirement options as don’t want to sustain this until 65+. Want to enjoy ourselves whilst we can. Hope they do scrap the lists. Would love to visit grandkids in Egypt. Miss them.

Hi charly & coxy, just to let you guys know my OH had his surgery yesterday and he's currently on a ward recovering, he's in a lot of pain and feels sick that's to be expected, he might be home Wed or Thu. Doctors think it was a tumor on his spleen we get the results in 2-3 weeks.

A plus side is i've been doing loads of cross stitching, finished another page of The Junction. The last bit aside from the boat is huge chunks of colour, i'm going to try and finish it this week, you never know :)

  • Hi Nmm what amazing progress on the junction. It’s going to look great. So glad OH finally had operation but sorry he’s so sore and uncomfortable. Hopefully they’ll give him something to help. Fingers crossed the tumour will be benign but at least it’s out.
I’ve been at the sewing machine, made a new cover for the one of the dog beds. Note to moderators stitched two old floor cushion covers together. I patched OH jeans to keep him decent and mended a tea towel. Not exciting but necessary.

    Hi everyone,
Glad to hear that OH has had the op nmm and is on the mend. Loving the update on The Junction - you've made great progress.
Charly - well done on the make do and mend projects :)
Dad still making good progress. He refused painkillers this morning, so taking that as a good sign. He continues to be content with his daily newspaper and the TV on REALLY LOUD, even when he has his hearing aids in. So glad I brought my cross stitch with me, as have managed to do some these past two nights.
I'm now back at work, using Dad's spare room which is a self-contained flat in the garden. It's nice to have some space. I'm flying back to the UK on Saturday just in time for DD to go back to uni on Monday.
Had my birthday here on Friday (thanks for FB wishes :) ) Really discombobulated being here and unable to do very much due to Dad's health. Will be having a mahoosive drink when I get home as contraband here. Am also down to my last Wi$pa bar (have been ekeing them out over the past 3 weeks). Might have to escape to the kiosk down the hill to buy Cypriot equivalent....
    Have a good day all,
    Coxy xx

Just to let you guys know my OH got home yesterday, he's stuck with the drain bag for a month, atleast he is eating and sleeping now. Coxy, pleased you have managed some stitching and charly, well done on the sewing.

Latest update on The Junction, i've done loads :)

  • Nmm so pleased OH is out. Bet home feels SO good. Amazing progress on the junction. Looks so good. Coxy glad your DD is making such good progress, he sounds quite chipper. Good job you’ve got your stitching to distract. Hope you’ve found a Wh1sp@ sub.

    Hi all,
So glad to hear that OH is home nmm. He will recuperate much better at home. Loving The Junction.
Took DDad back to the hospital yesterday so I took a days' leave. All good and they want to see him again on 28 Sept. I drove the return journey and we had torrential rain and fork lightning - something they rarely get here. Several drivers had their hazard lights on for miles and miles which was interesting when they wanted to change lanes! Luckily I'm used to rubbish weather!
No Wi$pa equivalent Charly but have managed to sneak a couple of KitKat$ home when shopping for other bits.
Have just ordered my day 2 C19 test for when I get home and I need to complete my passenger locater form later today too. Packing won't take long as I've been living out of my suitcase for 3 weeks !
No stitching last night as we watched the first 3 episodes of The Queens Gambit on NetfliX - bit late to the party with that one but very much enjoyed it and would recommend.
    Right, back to work!
Have a good weekend all - will be back on with crafting photos when I'm home.

    Hi all,
    nmm - how's OH doing?
Return flight from Cyprus was slightly delayed, so didn't get home until 3am on Sunday #shattered!
I've been back WFH at the kitchen table this week - all good, and fairly quiet as boss is taking leave this week. We transition into a new govt department on 1 October, so a lot of systems are being withdrawn. We need to order stuff this week to be sure of it actually getting approved.
In crafting news, I was meant to go to Yarndale this weekend, but cancelled my hotel whilst in Cyprus. Have just had a look at Ally Pally knit and stitch show and it's on this year in person yay! Have message DMum to see if she would like to come with me on 8 October. There are timed slots for entry, but once in, you can stay as long as you like. Will go by myself if DMum doesn't fancy it.
No stitching done yet this week, but DH going away tomorrow until Monday evening, so I will be crafting to my hearts content and watching TV! Bliss :)
    Hope you're all doing okay.
    Coxy xx
