Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin11 -
I acquired the taste for crystalised ginger in later life, when we were growing up it was a favourite of my mum and a easy gift for her, us children never understood why as it was too hot
Iooking back it was probably something she could have and guaranteed she won't have to
in later years when she ended up with loads from GC and GGC she was heard to say she wished people were more original in their gifts
I booked a week in Cornwall with two of my sisters in August (one works in education so has to be school holidays) it is a place I been several times over the last 15 years and they offered a good dealplus only £100 movable deposit and full payment a few days before allowing for CV19. We all needed cheering up so decided to go for it, so I'm going to have to get my act together or I'll be the fattest and yes it is a sibling competition I wouldn't fit into my tee shirts . Having said that today isn't going so well

Hi All,
We've made it through the first month! Well done everyone who has lost or STS, commiserations to gainers. Checking in this week with a 2lb loss - not entirely sure how that's happened but I will happily take it!
Have a good week everyone.11 -
Brunch - sausages, bacon, black pudding, egg, tomato and mushrooms
Tea - baked salmon with leeks and (to use it up!) half an avocado.11 -
I've kept quiet for the month but now have to admit to ending Month 1 of Quarter 1 with a 2 lb gain compared with 1 January.
I think it was brought about by a sudden interest in chocolate cake and nobody with whom to share it. Unfortunately today was not a good start to February.
It's now a case of looking at a loss of 4 lb in February and 5 lb in March to reach the original target.10 -
Hi
👋🏻 new joiners, well done losers and stsers, commiserations on gains.
My weigh in was on Friday -3.5lbs please Brambling. I echo the thanks for keeping the thread running.I was unaware a pack of butter was 1/2lb as it’s only in grams on the packet, a nice visual to go with the pound of sugar one thanks for that Monnagran. This week has so far not gone so well with my food choices, lots of crisps and cans of 🍹so need to nip that in the bud and get back on track before my next weigh in on Friday.Take care all.Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025

Morning All,
Cranky My body's definitely confused, no alcohol and "running" 3 times a week is very far from normal. Good luck with finding more sensible meals, seeing as I discovered a fondness for ketchup sandwiches when I had gallstones I'm probably not the best person to give advice
Brambling I love Cornwall and it feels like forever (actually only 2-3 years) since I was last there. Having a holiday to look forward to, and a little sibling rivalry, will hopefully act as a good diet incentive. I know that I struggled last year because I didn't have my normal "Arrggghh, none of my holiday clothes fit" panic.
LilacPotato Well done on the loss.
Frith I love the random use-up with dinner
LittleVoice Commiserations for the gain and best of luck with reducing your interest in chocolate cake.
Gingerlily Well done for the loss and best of luck for getting this week back on track.
I started week 3 of C25K last night and definitely ache more today than I have after previous runs. Because I'm conscious of the fact that I'm not walking very far at the moment I've been doing each session twice (I overlap the warm down walk of one with the warm up walk of the other) but might have to rethink that as it gets harder and just do a longer warm down walk. I looked at our meal plan for the week and it really is quite uninspired and full of the same old things so I need to have a good think about doing something different before I get so bored with everything I'm eating that I fall spectacularly off the wagon.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx11 -
