Hi All
Welcome to the Old Style Weight Loss thread for quarter one 2021
Please feel free to start posting your weight loss goals for the next challenge which will run from the 1st January until the 31st March (13 weeks)
You do not have to submit a loss or gain for the first week as it's our starting week, you can post your first loss or gain the week after on a day of your choice.
As usual everyone is welcome - we support and encourage, we don't judge and importantly that includes being kind to ourselves
. All hints and tips welcomed especially during the current time when we may be reaching for food or we are aren't able to buy our usual healthier choices and many of us are back into tier 4 lock down.
Please send me your targets if you are setting one in either lbs or kgs whatever suits you and Good Luck - you have 24 hours to eat the last of the Christmas goodies and start again
NB - Anyone can join the challenge at any point over the next 3 months

Hi all, I hope you all don’t mind but would like to post this poem that I wrote this week. I know most of us are so hard on ourselves and probably have done so for many years. We are also not very kind to ourselves either. What we say and think about ourselves we would never dream to say to anyone else. This was written at a very low point this week but after I had written it it made me think about the damage that I was doing to my physical and mental well-being and I resolved to be kinder to me!I hope this helps someone else. It’s called This Body. This body that I hate so much and at often times despise, with signs of wear and tear and age and rugby players thighs! This body that I hate so much and look at with despair, the double chin, the facial jowls, big nose and lanky hair! This body that I hate so much and disparage at every turn, can feel and touch and smell and mourn and look and hear and learn! This body that I hate so much and treat with such disdain, can breathe and pump and smile and laugh, and dance feel joy and pain. This body that I hate so much and look at with alarm, has grieved and ached and loved and lost been angry, stressed and calmed. This body that I hate so much has felt pleasure undenied, those thighs and calf’s I hate so much have walked me down the aisle. This body that I hate so much has looked into true loves eyes, has been loved so unconditionally no matter what it’s size! This body that I hate so much though non wore born of me has seen and smelled and held and kissed the babes of family. This body that I hate so much is so well known to me, it looks and walks and talks and laughs like those of family. It comes down the line of those who are no longer here, but those of cherished memories and those I still hold dear. It’s genes and DNA codes still live in those still here, all loved and blessed and hugged and kissed and looked up to and revered. So this body that I hate so much is only lent to me, was born of love, has lived life with love of varying degrees! How can I so despise you this body that is mine. How can I think of you that way when you were especially designed, to encapsulate this essence that is specifically me, to hold the precious energies that makes the me just be.There will never be another one that will be quite the same, so hold your head up high girl and be grateful you became!‘It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine’ - Winnie the Pooh11

Hi Brambling and everyone else
I am back for a fresh start. I have had a few health issues but have managed to keep the weight off that I have previously lost apart from the few Christmas pounds that sneaked on around the third (packet of) mince pies
Could I please be put down for 14lbs but I am hoping to lose a bit more than that really.
Roblou, I love love love that poem, so beautifully written. Monnagran I am looking forward to reading yours too.
Well, we have certainly been living in interesting times but it has really helped to have my online friends on here supporting and cheering each other on. I hope and pray next year will bring us weight loss success, happiness and friendship. Take care all and a Happy New Year xx

Right. You didn't ask for it, but you are getting it anyway.
'Twas the week after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibble, the eggnog I'd taste,
All the holiday parties, had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I'd walk to the shops (less a walk, more a lumber)
I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely reared,
The wine and the rumballs, the bread and the cheese
And the way that I'd never said, "No," just "Yes please."
As I dressed myself In my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt......
I said to myself, as only I can
"You can't spend the winter disguised as a man."
So...........away with the last of the sour cream dip.
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie, not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a celery stick.
I won't have hot crumpets, or tea cakes or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry,
"I'm hungry. I'm lonesome and life is a bore."
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year, and to all - a good diet.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.16 -
