I have been looking for a replacement office chair for some time now, and happened to spot one in my local furniture chazzers whilst having a browse for another tray:
This Sihoo beauty is so comfortable, and was mine for £30. A quick Google reveals similar models retail for £180! Well worth the 15 mins I spent lugging it up the stairs, getting it into the bath and then steam cleaning it
(No excuse for not doing any work now).No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
DFV I have had a look on eBay and I think I have Seville. A couple of weeks ago the CS had a set of 4 of everything plus jug, sugar bowl and teapot but it was priced at £25 and I didn't have the cash to spare that day. Also to be honest I don't need crockery I just buy what takes my fancy and Spode is my number 1. Anyway when I went in the other day there were just these oddments left as apparently the warehouse had not sent them on the same delivery. If they had they would have been sold as a set of 6 of everything. They will be nice as a table setting for 2 so pleased with them.
All that clutter used to be money6 -

Goldfinches, I agree that Stella pan should have had at least a rudimentary clean before being put out for sale but having owned a set of Stella's for 25 years, (fab replacements for horrid Le Creuset set!) I just know it will come up like new with a bit of steel wool and scouring powder! (Any chance of an 'after' pic?)
I've had a first go yesterday evening and am planning another effort tonight, here are the results so far.
As you can see there are some areas that need another going over. Please excuse the sordid appearance of my coriander which delights in pretending to be on its last legs when it is really robustly healthy.9 -
I forgot to post this photo of the other assorted bargains I've found this weekend.
I especially like the little strawberry basin which is from Mason Cash and one I looked at online a while ago and decided against due to the price.
My coriander is photo bombing again, if it's not careful I'll eat it!"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

What a lovely haul @goldfinches
Another day and another plant pot for me, £2 from the Yorkshire Cancer shop, also one of their new stock cards for a birthday card. Lovely houseplant shop scene on the front so that goes well for the recipient
Happy bargain hunting to all.Wealth is not measured by currency5 -

Pollycat! Help me! I think I’ve lost my mind - I *Bought* Greenwheat [yes the antique dealers dream, the swine to store as it rubs, mid p76]. From a charity shop, (d.g. not a dealer) but a teapot, cream jug, cruet of salt pepper & I think mustard, & 5 teacups & saucers. I hadn't cuddled the teapot before (I never said my testing was wholly logical, Denbyholism is not subject to much rational conduct) or felt the teacup just sit in my hand. The Acquiz Committee has even approved (nay, Suggested) hunting teaplates & a sugarbowl to achieve an afternoon tea set!
I managed to walk away from an Encore teapot (aka Dauphine top right p92 but Colouroll reused the design on the new shapes hence Encore, anyway already got one) & a set of coffeepot jug salt & sugarbowl in Greystone (tiny but perceptible chips, on the Colombia shape bottom right p 93) & even a Denby classic flan dish (they wanted a fiver for it & the Acquiz Committee was not minded to nod it through, despite permitting the Greenwheat!) Even looked & hiked past half a dozen Rondo cups & saucers...You don't need any help, DFV.Greenwheat has certainly stood the test of time, unlike other shapes and designs.Did I tell you I have a cream jug in Greenwheat design but the inside is a pale brown glaze rather than the deep green and the pattern reflects the inside colour rather than the green. It is stamped A College.Possibly a trial piece.I have a number of different sized planters in both Dauphine & Encore. And I have a lot of the New Glyn Ware (page 65).4 -
Shall we agree opinions may vary on that point?
As my teenage sons have some pretty vigorous vocabulary and, despite the Acquiz Committee backing, have been using it.

Just a stray thought while washing up. Over on the August July Grocery Challenge sticky @elsiepac posted a message yesterday about her iron and vitamin B levels post Covid which you might find a useful read.
Ignore me if this isn't relevant to you."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Ignore me if this isn't relevant to you.Went for a rather wobbly walk locally today.....first time out in 3 weeks. Didn't get as far as I hoped as the slightest exertion brings on breathing difficulties. I did make it to the Martin House Hospice chazza tho where I found a very nice Monsoon dress just hanging there waiting for me. Looked like it was a 'wear once for a special occasion' item as in perfect condition. It was the fabric that caught my eye....shades of muted peach and cobalt blue in an Impressionistic flower pattern, (reminded me of some of the paintings of Matisse). Priced at £10.....in ordinary times I might have left it at that price but not having spent much lately I had a little splurge. So pleased as it's given my mood a little boost - nice to be back to doing normal things again!!
