@Potternerd - thanks for alerting me to the other colours of Land's end jacket, I shall definitely keep an eye out for the mid blue. Your Joules jumper sounds very becoming and a bargain too.5 -
I had a successful chazzer-browsing afternoon on Saturday, picking up a Next jumper, M&S blouse and 2 summer dresses for my niece for future years for £4, 3 plastic moulds for chocolate (I'll use them for ice cubes) for 50p...and then blew the budget on a pair of new-looking trousers for £4. They were M&S, my exact leg length and fit like a glove so I plan to get lots of wear out of them this summer. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

yorkie_cook said:Had a little trip to Otley today, haven't been for at least 5 years, WOW is all I can say about the St Gemma's Hospice shop, had to wait about 10 minutes to get in managed to get myself 4 tops, 1 Tu, 2 m&s collection & 1 m&s portfolio, not masses of plus sizes which I am but enough to keep me very happy. I also was looking on behalf of my size 14 friend who now lives in Edinburgh & misses the thrill of a good chazza bargain as the charity shops there are silly priced eg £4 for basic Primark tops. I picked her up an assortment of M&S, Per Una, Boden, Wallis & a couple of things that had had the label removed but are really nice quality. Think there might be a couple of things that are quite her taste inc a b young top which when I sent her photos said shed didnt like, just did a quick google as never heard of the brand all tops were at least 25 euros each. So thrill tto get 15 items for under £15, I didn't even venture upstairs to look at non clothing, chatty to the lovely staff/ volunteers & told if you know anybody with kids all kids clothes are 25p. Did spot a really nice pair of shoes but unfortunately they weren't my size can't remember the make but were leather & very good quality.
After St Gemmas the other 5 or 6 shops seem a disappointment but did pick up a nice M&S shirt in Oxfam for £3.99 BNWT.
Think Otley is definely on my charity hotlist now, sorry Miro for letting the secret out of how great St Gemma's is.
Considering this is St Gemma's discount outlet everything seem in really good condition, I saw very few things that were bobbly, fade or generally tatty which I have done in other charities discount stores
My buys over the last few days have been....an M & S tote bag in black and tan leather for £4.49 in the Sue Ryder shop. Lovely condition and as soon as I touched it I thought it must be real leather so I gave it the sniff test as I couldn't find the label cos the bag was well stuffed with tissue. Assistant caught me and grinned and showed me the label inside the bag. Then in the community chazza, on the half price rail, I found a blazer stylee jacket by Cotswold in a lavender/grey/cream marl/boucle sort of fabric. Priced at £2.50 and looks b/n as has the pockets still stitched and plastic bag with spare buttons. Then today I was wondering around the city centre St Gemma's Hospice shop when I spotted a pair of black trousers...I nearly bypassed them but the fabric felt gorgeous, (100% Italian wool), so I had to give them a good squiz. Make was Brooks Brothers, (USA), which rang a quality bell & further alerted my interest. Fully lined and all the seams were bound in a silky binding rather than overlocked. Priced at 99p I just could not let them go but I nearly made a blunder as I forgot that American sizes are not the same as ours. Anyhoo, I think I can get away with the 'relaxed' fitand once I have shortened them by 6" they will be great!!! I'm 5'9" so the original owner must have been about 6"3"!!!!!

Miró said:Ha Ha!!! The trick is to find out which days they get a delivery on and get there shortly after the van leaves....they put stuff straight out in the shop! Did you go to the 20p shop too???
Yes I went in the 20p shop what a strange little shop, I brought a couple of books, there a young boy would guess about 3 or 4 in there highly delighted to find a car garage toy with a ramp wich when wat I took to be gran asked the price & was told 20p he said that's less than a chocolate bar can I have it please, i will be really good while you do your shopping, thsi just made me smile.
As I live in Bradford & don't drive Otley is about an hours bus ride away so might take a while to get to know when St Gemmas they get deliveries, but on friday they were putting some stuff about when I went in about 10ish. Found the staff/ volunteers to be very friendly & helpful which is more than be said of a couple of the charity shops near me.6 -

Yes indeedy....everything in the shop is 20p. They sell books, magazines, greetings cards, glass, china, small selection of clothing and all kinds of odds and ends....you just never know what's going to turn up. Also over the road from there is a new shop selling vintage bits and bobs which is worth a look.6
