Hello Ladies,
Wednesday what a relief for you with regards to your eyes.
LL lovely to have you posting once again. Pace yourself with the painting of the outside of your cottage. Such a shames that trades people are proving to be unreliable.3 -
Can I sneak back in?
Have been AWOL for a long time (although reading along all the time) but I really need to up my game on the fabbing front. Since I was made redundant last year I have let myself go - mooching round the house in clothes I wouldn’t normally be seen dead in 😱. It seems I am at the wrong age (56) to be employable again - I have applied for so many jobs but only had a handful of interviews - none of them successful 🙁.
Time to turn over a new leaf so I washed my hair this morning, got dressed in to nicer casual clothes and put some perfume and makeup on (I am ashamed to say that I have only been washing my hair twice a week when it really needs doing every other day).
I used to buy quite a few bits from Kettlewell (when I was earning regular money) - they do have a lovely range of colours and although they aren’t cheap, they are nice quality and I still have lots of the items as they have kept very well.
Nice to be back - I need to keep posting and keep fabbing 😀4 -
Hello Sukey.
The Kettlewell site was good for seeing what colours I liked. I might look at that again, actually.
I had lunch in Costa Coffee with my friend today and then we went to B&M and some charity shops. I bought a blue dress and a tartan Dorothy Perkins skirt for £1 each.
My other friend was texting me about my new glasses and I said I could meet her in London to try on frames to see what she thinks suits me. She knows a good place in Soho so I will arrange that over the next couple of weeks.
I have the DJ night tomorrow but I am only going to go out for a couple of hours. I was out Wednesday night for 4 hours and out today for 4 hours and that seems to be the sweet spot to do something social without tiring me out.

Hello Ladies,
I went to Poetic Unity's Open Mic event at Black Cultural Archives yesterday evening and it was a fantastic evening. We had 3 men from other parts of the World. One mature man was from the USA, a younger man was also from the USA and the other young man was originally from Australia, has lived in Paris for a few years and was visiting London. They added so much to the evening, as their cultures shape their personal experiences that they write about.
I stayed to talk to people at the end of the evening for the 1st time. It was fun talking to the other poets and people in the small audience. I got lots of compliments on my 2 poems: I Will Not Be Beaten and Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner.4 -

Good luck with finding a new job @sukeyboo. 😊 I do think that @Tiggger is right about transferable skills.
When does your boy start at his new school @chanie? It's a big milestone but it's a new adventure too. I hope all goes well for him. 😊
The poetry evening sounds really good @sugarbaby125. One of the things I like about our city is the huge range of backgrounds people come from. To represent that cultural diversity through poetry is an excellent idea.
We've fixed up to have dinner with a group of friends next week that we haven't seen since March 2020. there are 8 of us and the Rule of 6 put us off for a long time although we've kept in touch through messaging. I'm so looking forward to it as it's really starting to feel that life is getting back to more like normal.

Sukey boo. Welcome back. I agree with what has been said. Your skills WILL be transferable. Soft skills such as creative thinking, good communication skills, customer service experience etc are valuable because they are flexible and not job specific.Had a really good day......have jet washed all the pebbledash ready to start painting tomorrow. It looks like we are going to have some good weather next week, so a perfect time to crack on and get the painting done, also want to clean and treat the decking, clean some rugs etc.Busy week ahead.....but needs must. Need to make the most of the weather. The decluttering and wardrobe sort out can wait until winter takes hold. 😱😂5

I had a nice time last night although I wish I could have stayed out longer. I am just taking it easy today, having a bath and then getting dressed and going to the local shop. My cousin is calling me this afternoon after seeing me on Instagram the other day. Haven't spoken to him since 2004!
There is meant to be a mini heatwave in London and probably elsewhere. All I have next week is a grocery delivery and my massage on Tuesday. I'm charging my kindle and will read in the garden this week. My husband needs to tackle the weeds again as last time I did it I was achy for days afterwards.
The optician had an offer for glasses and frames for £40 so I might go and buy a pair this week too. My friend can tell me what she thinks of the frames when I see her. I am meeting her to try on glasses before the concert the week after next. Finally going to a proper concert again! We will meet my brother after the trying on session and then go for a vegan meal before the gig.
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.
