Happy September everybody.:)
It is slightly cooler here so I had to look around in the storage boxes (as I have partially packed a lot of our stuff to move) to find my jumpers to wear one tonight. I'm wearing my black trousers (the only trousers I have actually) with a black or blue jumper. I may still get away with wearing my sandals though or I might wear the grey ankle boots I bought a couple of months ago. I prefer the weather like this as I don't have a great summer wardrobe. I need to rectify that by next year.
You are right Maman, I do need to pace myself as I don't want to get ill again. I have told some of the people I've met that a few years ago I was practically bed bound for 10 months and that my doctor suggested a mobility scooter and they couldn't believe it to see me now. I am only going out for a couple hours tonight, Saturday and Sunday so I don't exhaust myself.
There is a vegan menu at the pub so a few of us may do a big share of food tonight. I just had some tomato soup and bread for lunch so I am not completely starving later.
I really love this time of year!

Wednesday happy September to you too!
I can’t believe summer is over, as it barely started. I’m still waiting for the promised heatwave.
Following on from helens post about insurance, I had good customer service today. We needed to buy DD a new bed and we visited a local independent bed shop. All of the mattresses were piled up or leaning against the wall and I asked the Sales Assistant if we could try the mattress and she looked at me like I was crazy. Like, you’d want to try it before purchasing, right? As she was so unhelpful, we went to another shop and the Sales Assistant was happy for us to try the mattresses and pulled them out for us to try. He was so keen for the sale, he said he’d deliver it tomorrow, even though we weren’t expecting it.

Hello Ladies,
I went to my local Odeon cinema yesterday to watch Reminiscence and I really enjoyed the film.I had forgotten just how comfortable the seats are in this cinema. I went to a 1pm showing of the film as I knew there would only be a few of us cinema goers in the afternoon. Odeon has lots of hand sanitising stations throughout the cinema and the cinema was clean and really smelt of some kind of disinfectant or sterilising cleaner, which was reassuring for me.

Hello lovely ladies
Looks like it might be a loooooong winter. Autumn is definitely early. Although I did notice that we might be lucky and get some sunshine next week. Maybe an Indian summer. Hope so.My decorator has let me down, he was supposed to be painting the front of the bungalow. I've given up, I'm going to do as much as I can myself and then just get my little odd job man to do the bits that need the high ladders, basically just the gable ends.I've made a start this Morning by filling in all the holes after I had removed number plaques etc. Going to go for a walk in a moment before I wear myself out and then get cracking with the first coat. Really don't fancy doing it but I will console myself with how much money I'm saving. This week I have bought some new rugs and a painting. Going to do some housefabbing this autumn, once I've got all the outside jobs and garden up to scratch.Still feeling a bit fed up and dead tired. Hey ho, just press on.5 -
I find the start of autumn a bit depressing especially when we haven't had much of a summer. Especially this year when we haven't had a holiday or any good sun. I've looked so pale this year to despite a bit of fake tan to help! 🤣 But I know I'll soon lift my mood as soon as the autumn colours start to show and there's a lovely earthy smell in the countryside in autumn too.
It's like old times hearing about your trip to the cinema @sugarbaby125.😊 It's good that public spaces are still taking Covid precautions. I'm still wearing a mask in shops and using hand sanitiser. I know that it's not surfaces that carry most of the virus but I haven't even had a cold since the start of the pandemic s I'm pleased with the extra hygiene.
I think customer service is so important @chanie, so good for you finding a shop that was prepared to offer it to you. Of course you were right to expect to try out a mattress before buying it! Who wouldn't?🤔
I think you're very brave to paint the outside of your house yourself @helensbiggestfan but I suppose, being a bungalow, most of it is accessible. Just take care and don't wear yourself out. We had the outside of our house painted a couple of months ago and we're delighted with it. Thinking about the prepping you've done, we decided to have a new number plate and outside light. We now have one of those French enamel plates and it looks fab. We filled the flower beds in front of the house with some cheap bedding plants from Aldi too and it's given me pleasure every time I get home. They're a bit more multi coloured than I would normally choose but for about £10 in total it's been so cheerful.
I'm still sort of wearing summer clothes and haven't worn tights yet so summer's not completely gone😉. I don't think I've worn formal black trousers for about 2 years @Wednesday2000. I do wear jeans but mostly it's leggings around the house and leggings under skirts and dresses when it gets colder. I know I need some more long sleeved tops for the next few months. Can anyone remember the name of the company that does the basics in a wide range of colours. It's intended for people who've had their colours done. I'll try our friend Google. 🤔
ETA- Kettlewell Kettlewell Colours Limited
I've made a hair appointment for next Monday. I've stretched it out to 9 weeks by cutting my fringe a bit myself but it needs doing now. We have a few family birthdays and other occasions this month so I want to look my best. I think I'm seeing a little improvement from The Ordinary retinol too but it could be just taking more care and creaming at night. It's making me feel good anyway. 😊
It's a bit dull here today but reasonably warm and dry. We managed a good walk and had coffee with friends this morning so definitely good enough to get out and about.5 -
I saw the optician and she said there is nothing sinister going on with my eyes. I am just short sighted and have astigmatism and so have to wear glasses most of the time apart from up close. I will look for some frames online next week when my husband is off work.
I did go to a couple of chazzers today before the optician and I bought two tops and some shot glasses. I also booked myself a massage for next Tuesday.
I'm off out tomorrow on a shopping trip with a friend I met at the local group. I think we might get a sandwich from Subway and go and sit in the park afterwards.

Wednesday im so pleased to read that you just need glasses. What a relief.Maman I like autumn. It’s my birthday, plus I like Halloween, bonfire night and the Christmas build up. But, like you, I only like it after a decent summer holiday and nice weather. The summer started off well but never really recovered.
Helen how frustrating that your decorator let you down. I’m sure you will do a decent job of painting yourself.I wore my new heels today. They were comfortable, but I will be back to my flats tomorrow 🤣.3 -
Good Mornjng lovely ladies.Just sitting in bed, sipping my early Morning coffee, looking out at the dull grey skies. Again, 😂. Apparently we are due some nice weather next week...🤞. Hopefully summer hasn't quite deserted us just yet.Funny about you feeling pale Maman, Oddly enough several people have commented on how tanned I look. It must be down to all the outside work I have been doing. It's certainly not down to cruising or beach holidays. Mores the pity. Maybe next year.Good news about your eyes Wednesday.I'm still in the process of decluttering my wardrobe. I am definitely one of those people who only wears a small percentage of their clothes, so why do I find it so hard to let go of stuff I never wear.🤔. The other thing I've noticed is that half the time I wear stuff I don't even like.....just because it's there. What's that about. I caught sight of myself in the mirror yesterday.......still wearing browns and greys. What in the world..... Just need to get rid of them so I can't be tempted to wear them, not even round the house. Thanks for the kettlewell link Maman. I had forgotten about them. I have never bought anything from them I might give them a try. They do have a great range of colours amd I definitely have to add more colour to my wardrobe.Speaking of wardrobe revamps. I watched the film "Pillow Talk" last night (Doris Day/Rock Hudson). Doris Days wardrobe is fantastic, very glamourous. Ok so a movie not real life but even so it made me stop and think. I definitely need to up my game, add a bit of glamour.6

Thanks guys!
OMG, get rid of those brown and grey clothes now LL.
I am definitely guilty of wearing the same few outfits as well. I have worn that dotty navy dress to death but it is just so comfortable! As I have lost weight recently some clothes are too big for me now and I am going to take them to a charity shop today along with a few other bits. I'm meeting my new friend at midday so I will get ready early and look around for some new clothes before I meet her.
Have a nice day everyone.2025 GOALS

I've never bought from Kettlewell either @helensbiggestfan but I do need to think about colours. I might be able to find what I want on the High Street but I definitely need some new tops. I bought myself a Next skirt in the CS a couple of weeks ago (for £1.99) as I knew it would be good for dancing. It's fully lined so will probably be fine all year. It's a pale lilac sort of colour and I really didn't have anything that went well. I ended up wearing grey which was OK as it balanced all the embroidery but I'd have preferred purple.
At least being getting outside gardening or painting is getting you some fresh air and exercise.
My nails are getting very long again so I need to give myself a manicure and I know I have a Groupon voucher for a massage which I need to use. That's two fabbing tasks I can do.
Not much going on here today although I will do my meal plan for next week and my food shop. And as it's Fab Friday I'll be sure to wear make up and perfume!!😊5
