Hello Ladies,
I went to a DJ friend's Karaoke birthday party yesterday evening in his home and I had a fantastic time. I sang 6 songs throughout the party: Fever by Peggy Lee, Return To Sender and It's Now Or Never by Elvis, Lean On Me by Bill Withers, Make You Feel My Love by Adele and Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan. Everyone got into the Karaoke and had fun with it, even the less talented singers sang with real style and enthusiasm. I danced until I could not stand up and dance anymore, then I danced sitting on a chair.
I arrived at the party just after 6pm and I left at 10pm. My friend's partner gave me a lift home in his immaculate Jaguar.
I was given some food to take home, so I had a very late dinner of fried chicken, brown stewed chicken and curry goat with rice 'n' peas at home. I bought home two quite big slices of the birthday cake for my son and daughter and that really pleased them.5 -
Sounds like you had a great evening sugarbaby
Thanks for all the encouragement with regard to the search for suitable employment - I have applied for another two jobs this morning so fingers-crossed.
Over the weekend, I was clearing out some stuff from the spare bedroom and found all my old beading materials which I had forgotten about so I am going to resurrect the hobby and, if possible, maybe make a little bit of spare cash from it.
It is a glorious day here in Dorset so will try and go for a walk later.6 -
Hello Ladies,
I am really enjoying the hot weather. How lovely for me to need my factor 50 sun lotion once again this year.
My local Card Factory now has Christmas wrapping paper and other Christmas items on sale.4 -
Have just spent 4 days painting the outside of my house. Phew. Time for a break for a couple of days.5

Blisteringly hot here with a hot dry wind, like the Sirocco you get in Spain. All this outdoor work has made me very tanned and my hair is practically platinum. 😂🤣.5

You've done a great job there @helensbiggestfan. What a difference in before and after. 👏👏👏
I think we have similar tastes. This is the outside of our house, although I can't claim any credit for the painting.🤣

Hello Ladies,
I went to Karaoke last night and had a very enjoyable evening. I sang 4 songs: Return To Sender by Elvis, Lean On Me by Bill Withers, Dream Lover by Bobby Darin and Fever by Peggy Lee.
I had one of the men who is a regular on the Karaoke circuit that I have known for more than 10 years, dedicate one of his songs to me and another man actually serenaded me for part of one of his songs and held my hand, while he was serenading me. I felt compelled to discreetly use hand sanitiser from my handbag on my hands. I cannot be too careful with Covid still in our midst.

Sounds like a great evening again @sugarbaby. It's a shame we have to think of things like hand sanitiser but, although most people aren't getting as seriously unwell with it, the number of Covid infections is frightening so we do need to be careful. Just imagine the number of working days lost with about 40K new cases a day.
I'm pleased with the flowers too @helensbiggestfan. That little corner has given me so much pleasure this year as our back garden is almost totally out of action. There are a few perennials like the hostas and lavender and a few shrubs but then we packed it with cheap bedding plants from Aldi. The busy lizzies are a bit gaudy but I love the deep purple petunias. There's probably a few more weeks in the annuals but I have bought some violas and pansies ready to replace them. I have a bay tree but it got too big for the doorstep so it's moved a bit out of that picture. It's decorative but I do pick the leaves for cooking too.
Today's fashion supplement was partly about workwear. Nothing particularly new there just reiterating that you can look smart without a jacket such as a tailored dress or pencil skirt and blouse. There was an article that was fairly complimentary towards M&S and some of their autumn range. I was encouraged to possibly take a look but let's hope they don't shoot themselves in the foot and not keep up with demand.
It's really hot and sticky here today but I think it's the last one. I went mad this morning and totally emptied the washing basket, even changed bedding and towels a couple of days early to clear the lot. 😁4
