Positive thought for today:
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies, no excuses. No one to lean on,
to rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey and you alone are responsible for the quality of it, this is the day
your life really begins

I bought myself a dress from eBay (new without tags) for £13 to wear for my shopping trip next week when the shops open. I will need to get defused before I wear it though, so a trip to the beauticians is much needed.
I managed to get a few items from the Next sale, for that children, including some much needed new coats, so I’m pleased with my bargains.
I wonder how busy the shops will be, though. I’m going shopping towards the end of the week so hopefully, any madness would have died down.6 -
I think you're right to leave it to later in the week chanie. I was just imagining the queues that are likely to be outside Primark on Monday. After the last lockdown they were all around the block. Our local schools are still on holiday next week too so lots of people have leave from work.
I'm doing a manicure today. It's probably my imagination but my nails really do seem to grow quickly lately. Perhaps it's all the healthy food I'm having! 🤣
With all the talk of hairdressers I hadn't realised that beauticians can open too. I missed an eyebrow wax and tint appointment during lockdown so hopefully they'll contact me soon. DH's hairdresser phoned yesterday but no word from mine yet.7 -
I've been busy, washed my car and DHs. My reward? My car wouldn't start. The shock of being clean must have been too much. Got the battery on charge now so hope that works.
Had my shopping delivered this morning so cupboard and fridge are full, I also got some tile samples I'd sent for so think I know what I'm going with.
Apparently there is an update this afternoon about the AZ jab, my second dose is due in two weeks so I will be interested in what they have to say
We are trying decide on a shopping trip next week, Exeter or Plymouth? I think it will be Plymouth, I like the pannier market. We will probably go on Wednesday, I've got some work on Thursday.
I did my nails yesterday, mine seem to be growing as well Maman not sure why as I'm not being terribly healthy. I do have protein and lots of fruit and veg but far too much sugar. In fact I think I might make a cuppa and have a slice of cake and psych myself up for the AZ news. One of my kids has just their second dose of Pfizer, one of my DsIL has also had 2nd dose of Pfizer so we are moving on.7 -
I'm interested to hear the AZ news too pixie. There was discussion on the radio earlier about further research because of the blood clots so I wonder if there'll be any more to find out. Everything seems to be briefed to the media first these days. Having the Moderna go on stream will help but I do hope there isn't an announcement about extending the 12 week gap.
Hope your car starts later. 🤞🏼7 -
Car seems to have recovered from the shock.
I'm happy enough having my 2nd dose of the AZ in a fortnight, bit more concerned about DD who is 30 having her 2nd dose. I know the risk is small bt would be happier if she was having Pfizer or Moderna. Hopefully as she was OK after the first one she should be OK.
All the moaning about the EU picking on the British vacine and being reassured there was nothing to worry about seems a bit odd now.7 -
I agree.
It's worrying for younger people who have been given it. I don't have specific medical knowledge but I suppose it's similar to those who had side effects from the contraceptive pill. I'm glad it's out in the open so that people can be on the alert for any symptoms.
Good news about the car. 😊
I've cut my nails back a bit. I'll complete my manicure later when I'm sitting watching TV..... again! 🤣7 -

Chanie I can tell you it will have been a big shock. I used to work with someone who was hilarious, she'd say things like, "I'm not putting the car in the garage just because it's cold, it will only spoil it and it will expect it all the time." Or, "I'm not using skin cream, it will just get lazy and not bother producing it's own." Bless her, she died very young but I still smile when I think of her.5

I had a friend who was the total opposite with cars. She always bought her car from new and then looked after it like it was a baby. It was always kept in the garage when she wasn't using it and if it was out in the rain she rubbed it down with a towel before putting it away! 😁
My friend conformed last night that we have our lunch booking for next Wednesday. I'm delighted to have something to look forward to that's more exciting than a dental appointment! It's at a country pub. they do have a marquee in the garden but it's open along the side and I doubt it's heated. I've already started planning my outfit, starting with a thermal top and leggings. Then it'll be boots and a maxi skirt. Plenty of time to decide which other layers. 😁
I finished my manicure last night. My nails are in really good condition. Whatever I've been doing during lockdown, it's certainly not excessive housework! 🤣6
