Electoral Roll Issue affecting all UK residents

Seriously, i am flabbergasted this has not been picked up by the national news. Infact, im gonna e-mail the daily mail, mirror, guardian etc to let me know. Hopefully a story can get things moving.
People struggling to feed their families and losing their jobs, and now being stuffed by trying to apply for any sort of finance.0 -
As stated, everyone is not affected, as a proportion of the population of the UK are unable to apply for credit due to age.xlnc99 said:
We dont know. We have no idea what lies Equifax are feeding us. Alot of people on this thread have already said it effects them. I guarantee you everyone checking their Equifax file will see they wont be on the ER. 90% at least would be my guess.Barny1979 said:As stated, it does not effect everyone.0 -
No to be cynical Barney. You know fully well what i mean0

I can "grasp" the impact, it is just that the impact is not anything like you are trying to make it out to be.xlnc99 said:Dont think you understand and are fully grasping how this effects us.
No it is not, as others have said they are still showing as being on the Electoral Roll (as am I, I have just checked), the vast majority of people will also not be applying for new credit. At most it will impact a small percentage of people who are both applying for new credit and not showing as being on the Electoral Roll, it will not affect "everyone". Additionally not all lenders use Equifax, or even CRAs and many will just ask for another proof of address, especially as this is a "known issue".xlnc99 said:This effects everyone in the UK.
When finances are tight loading oneself up with more more debt is very rarely the answer.xlnc99 said:Especially at a time like now when finances are tight, people may need assistance/credit to help tide them over. But no, they wont get it because Equifax have stuffed us.
On that basis it would only impact lenders who use Equifax, rather than other CRAs.xlnc99 said:It looks like to me this is a problem with Equifax and only them. I have spoken to all credit agencies and they have no issues with the ER.
That is your assumption, you can be "on the Electoral Roll", but the council might not have passed the data over, or updated it with the CRA, or the CRA may have not updated their data. In case you have not noticed there is a little bit of a global pandemic going on, it is disrupting things a little, especially things which involve sensitive data.xlnc99 said:I also spoke to my council and they confirmed i am on the ER and have been registered. There are no issues on their end. So basically Equifax are the ones who are messing us around because they cant be bothered to update their files.
It is at most a minor inconvenience, not an issue to panic over and certainly not an issue to lose the plot over.xlnc99 said:Cannot believe you are taking this lightly1 -
I was thinking someone has forgotten to take their medication...JGB1955 said:
This HAS to be a wind-up.xlnc99 said:Just goes to show how big of a deal this really is for us UK folk. If a company like Very is rejecting us based on this, goodness knows how the big mainstream lenders will be acting.
This needs to be fixed now.
I suggest everyone to complain to Equifax and their local councils.
There will be rioting commencing if this is not sorted. A mutiny will start and it wont be pretty.1 -
So which one is it, "everyone" or "90%", the two are mutually incompatible.xlnc99 said:

We’re taking it lightly because it’s not that serious in the grand scheme of things of what’s currently going on in the world.xlnc99 said:Dont think you understand and are fully grasping how this effects us. Cannot believe you are taking this lightlyIt’s only a concern for you as based on your recent posts your applying for credit here there and everywhere. As a doctor who works in the NHS I’m more concerned and worried about coronavirus and my colleagues and patients than when my electoral roll data will be updated. Which no doubt will be in a few months at most!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:2 -
So tier increases, schools closed, the economy in recession again, but you think that the newspapers will care that a tiny percentage of people can not apply for borrowing from a few very specific lenders, right...xlnc99 said:Seriously, i am flabbergasted this has not been picked up by the national news. The vast majority of people will not be applying to borrow more money, let us be generous and say 10%, then of them, the number of lenders who use Equifax is 52%, however the number who use only Equifax is only 14%, which means the other 86% of lenders would still be accessible. If someone has lost their job they are going to be declined credit anyway, so that is a redundant point. It would help if your position was coherent, but your argument makes no sense and does not hold up to scrutiny.xlnc99 said:People struggling to feed their families and losing their jobs, and now being stuffed by trying to apply for any sort of finance.4 -
'we don't know' - but you're talking like you're an authority on the subject as to how it'll affect EVERYONE (and it won't and it's not).xlnc99 said:

'Alot of people on this thread have already said it' - Have they? I haven't seen them. Unless 'A lot' is one or two? What I have seen 'A lot' of - is people telling you to take a deep breath and not worry about it.
'I guarantee you everyone checking their Equifax file will see they won't be on the ER' - and if you're wrong - what compensation will you offer? By the way - you're wrong. On my Equifax - I am on the electoral roll.
As has been mentioned lots - it'll be a blip in the grand scheme of things - and it'll all work itself out. I really can't see why you're getting SOOOOOOO worked up about it. (How did you manage to get approved for your Virgin credit card btw?)3
