So it seems that its started already. I tried a little test, went to Very and applied for a eligibility check for a credit account.

Got rejected due to me not being on the electoral roll.

"If you have recently moved into a new address, we would suggest that you register on the Electoral Roll, or make sure that any credit accounts you may hold are registered to the address before trying again"

    EQUIFAX ARE USLESS!

Just goes to show how big of a deal this really is for us UK folk. If a company like Very is rejecting us based on this, goodness knows how the big mainstream lenders will be acting.

This needs to be fixed now.

I suggest everyone to complain to Equifax and their local councils.

There will be rioting commencing if this is not sorted. A mutiny will start and it wont be pretty.

Local Councils have enough on their plate. Rioting?! Have a word! There hasn't been rioting as a result of the Government's handling of the Pandemic, a few people trying to buy a house is hardly going to instigate people riots.

Dont think you understand and are fully grasping how this effects us. This effects everyone in the UK. Especially at a time like now when finances are tight, people may need assistance/credit to help tide them over. But no, they wont get it because Equifax have stuffed us.

It looks like to me this is a problem with Equifax and only them. I have spoken to all credit agencies and they have no issues with the ER. I also spoke to my council and they confirmed i am on the ER and have been registered. There are no issues on their end. So basically Equifax are the ones who are messing us around because they cant be bothered to update their files.

Cannot believe you are taking this lightly

As stated, it does not effect everyone.

So why are you advocating people complain to their Local Councils, resulting in wasting time and effort in them responding to complaints?

We dont know. We have no idea what lies Equifax are feeding us. Alot of people on this thread have already said it effects them. I guarantee you everyone checking their Equifax file will see they wont be on the ER. 90% at least would be my guess.

Because on EQuifax website, they are clearly blaming the councils (i dont believe it) but who knows who is telling the truth??? MY council said its not them. Others maybe different. Either way, one or both are in the wrong. So complaints need to be started to equifax and the council to sort this out one way or another
