Just checked the "shopping purse" and have £35 left till wednesday, super chuffed about that. Still got items in the fridge for food so hope to hang on to that for the next 2 days. Perhaps a little baking with the left over margerine will be used up too.Anything is better than nothing-check back and see

I've been saving veg peelings for the last couple of weeks, these are now in the slow cooker set to make veg stock. Will leave in until I go to bed. Drain. Then tomorrow I'll reduce down to turn into ice cube size and keep in the freezer.
May not be much of a saving, but least I know there's no preservatives or salt as well as making extra use of the veg peelings before composting.June Grocery Challenge £0/£250

£41.40 spent yesterday. That's full fat milk, ready meals (our service user will only eat certain foods) then yoghurtx mousses ice cream etc for him. Plus we needed veg, milk, fruit and bread. So far £224.63 and 2 weeks to go till pay day. I'm happy with this so far this month.

Been incredibly busy since my last post so I’m glad that I’ve got an hour to grab a cuppa and catch up. Spent £80.68 since my last post which takes me to £281.34/£300. That’ll definitely do us any top ups of milk etc. Really happy with this first month4

I still haven't been shopping so my total remains at £65.61/£124 which works out at an average of £2.62 per day.
I'm now sorting through my various cookbooks to find things to make to have for breakfast as I finished the last of my yoghurt this morning and am leaning towards Fig & Nut Seed Bread from Aunty Beeb's Good Food Eat Well Cheap and Healthy collection. I reckon the longer I can stay out of a supermarket the better so I'm going to see if I can last out a few more days.6 -
spent £5.45 today in search of a swede and some cream (neither of which ended up getting used! 🙄). Bought both those things and 2 reduced packs of nice mince, which have been turned into a cottage pie filling and vats of chilli and bolognese sauce. Total stands at £149.18/£200. I’m trying to avoid spending any more this month but may need some f&v.Vicky xGrocery challenge:December 2022 £151.96/£400 . Advent decluttering challenge 47/240.3

Well my first monthly challenge and I've gone spectacularly over budget by about £45! I've upped the amount of fruit, veg and eggs I've been buying and generally found some things a bit more expensive but think I also need to investigate meal planning! I've tried this a few times but always fall by the way side so need to find a format that works for me and I have the incentive of wanting to retire early in a couple of years to stick with it.4

Went shopping this morning with DH - big mistake! Went to butchers and ended up over budget but I'll just reduce next month's by a similar amount. All the meat will get used but it's just annoying to happen on the final shop of the month! Gone over by just under £30 so next month will be £220.xx but should all work out over the months! Also gone over by about £5 on the bulk fund but that means a bit less for next month but hoping I won't actually need any bulk supplies next month as have topped up the main things this gets used for - apart from sausages which we won't be getting until the weekend which is the start of next month's budget.

Evening all, small shop yesterday mainly juice and fizzy to last until Feb. Will need milk, bananas and some veg over the next couple of days but otherwise we're pretty well stocked.
Think we'll end up coming in at about £220 for the month which will be about half our usual spends. Hoping we can continue this way for a few months as it really helps with neither of us working at the moment. Next few months are going to be busy as I try and complete my degree so need to concentrate on cheap but easy meals.Grocery Challenge 2024
