Hope Mr SD had a lovely birthday, the family gatherings sound wonderful.
Feel in a muddle, not able to find papers, keys, phone , glasses and too much going on to get organised, Work full-on and kids demanding and DD1 needs support but engaging with Dr which is good,
2131 large chest of drawers picked up, I have 2 smaller ones downstairs which in some ways not as nice but don't belong downstairs , know girls dont want the one I let go, More stuff now in the open but hoping this will make me get rid of stuff.
2132 -2136 frogs including passport appt, sorting bank stuff
2137-40 paintbrushes, and old towels and sheets to DD1 to paint furniture in her flat.
hoping to find time to go through papers and sort out surface clutter!

I did a bit of emotionally-challenging decluttering on Saturday evening. I was aware that the folder of letters & bills from my divorce was still lurking out of sight, and decided to get rid by burning the paperwork - I did check that the court documents are safely filed first 😉 The chiminea was lit, the papers were ripped into pieces and gradually fed in alongside several logs. With the lingering brisk wind, there was a good hot blaze, and everything has turned to ashes. A bit like the marriage I guess, so nicely symbolic!

Thank you for the gold star Mrs_SD, will add to the rest with pride!
I like the symbolism @Floss, hugs to you and hope you feel lighter now it's all done.
Lounge got a thorough clean last night (even vacuumed the sofa and under all the cushions 😲) Will vacuum the floors again and wash them on Saturday morning before the guests arrive. Didn't get a chance to list any sale items, will try harder today.
Today bedrooms are on the list - sheets are already in the washing machine and I'll dust and hoover all three after work which shouldn't take too long...Will have to leave DH's desk and side of the bed for him to sort out though!

£500 successfully decluttered to the carpenter after he;
replaced two dickery wormwood
damaged floorboards upstairs,
replaced some skirting,
cutback floorboards by front door, resecured them and replaced the bit that was removed with a nice new oak threshold,
rebuilt my bath frame,
fixed the fanlight and replaced the glass
and
screwed down the squeaky floorboards. He was a very busy bee yesterday and is happy to come back for round 2✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅(DSis🏅)

florianatwobob does your carpenter travel? sounds like a chap who will never be short of work.
Mr SD's Birthday sounded just lovely. Love the motorbike mug. Birthday Shared by DD1's BF , real birthday ,not a month earlier as I thought!
Good job Floss. My philosophy is, no future in the past.
Dental appointment endured. Sore and swollen today and short of a tooth.
Rain has helped melt some snow and roads have been snow ploughed,3 cars still uncollected on the tops. Proper snow forecast for next week. I will get some extra food in. This time was just a taster. We haven't had heavy snow for about 10 years here.
I have begun to feel quite Christmassy. We have started to make arrangement with the 5 kids and partners for various meetups.
When the rain stops I will bring the garden bench into the kitchen to dry out in preparation for a coat of paint.
Dropped a bag of donations off at the Sally Army yesterday.
Off to tidy round a little. keeping on top of being tidy makes me feel so much happier.

That sounded very cathartic Floss.
I have added even more clothing to the donation bags. I was watching a YT video on Project 333 where the woman has a minimal wardrobe.
I haven't been feeling too well but I am slowly going through my house cleaning and sorting out. I did our underwear and sock drawers so the whole of our bedroom is done now. I did the rest of the kitchen cupboards this morning. I have vacuumed upstairs but I need to vacuum downstairs before my shower.
I did see this product advertised on IG today called Grandz. It removes lint and pet hair and I might buy one to see if it keeps my pets under control. The carpet on the stairs get particularly bad and I think it should be easier than lugging the vacuum up the stairs.8 -

I’m very fortunate in my trades as I have a reliable plumber/gas engineer, electrician, plasterer and now carpenter. They all have a good nosey around the lastest upgrades and evaluate each other’s work and give me a load of agro and teasing. Most importantly they all come back and, because I’m very particular, they all have done their apprenticeships and all tell me exactly what they’ve done (much to the surprise of the building regs chap when he came to check some changes we’d done).
I hope your poorly mouth is feeling better✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅(DSis🏅)

Divorce stories - I have a very dark sense of humour which has helped through many difficult times. I had to correct the spelling on one of the solicitor's letters (before it was sent) but I loved the idea of divorcing my husband because of his gambolling (I saw it clearly in my head as a Posy Simmons card - my 6'4", 21st husband prancing about in a field with all the Spring lambs).
I wonder if the pet hair thing could cope with DS3 and Beloved - they both have long hair and it's like having a red Setter and an Irish Wolfhound (DS3 although his is frizzy as well), the clumps of hair bind all sorts of debris.
Going to claim 20 points for yesterday - ripped up at least 15 boxes but they were mostly for tech gadgets so not too big. The bigger boxes were filled with smaller boxes and paper before taking to the elastic sided bin (put a piece of board and a large cobble in there and every time I go, I can squeeze a bit more in).
Spent some time on the kitchen, cleaning grungy bits (the worst bits had several spray, leave, scrub, wipe or mop (cheap kitchen roll and have taken a large bag of rags there - a whole double sheet's worth) but less thrown out. Boiler was making loud noises on Sunday, tried the pressure and the little knob came off (and it was dark so DS3 was holding the torch whilst I looked for it). When I got there yesterday the boiler wouldn't work at all. Ds3 and beloved googled and utubed but none of the things they tried solved the problem and the error message suggests it's time to phone the boiler man. The cleaning was done using kettles of boiled water.
Some bin bags went out in the back (only 5 houses and ours is the closed end) next to the bin (will be put out tonight for collection tomorrow) an a large old pet cage. Two of the neighbours have broken items outside and I thought we could start lining up the things for when we have a skip. I won't fall over them and it will make it easier to tackle the ivy and weeds. put out a broken 'trug' and a stool. DS3 managed to find a wet patch to slip on outside the bathroom, smashed his knee into the wall, hit his head on a chair and broke my lovely trug. It's the sort you put bottles of cleaners and rags in to carry around, mostly very flimsy nowadays so was glad to find sturdy ones a few years ago (used one to carry craft stuff to classes).
Not going anywhere today - dizzy, weak legs (flu wobbly not normal joints), pounding headache, very weak. Just managed to wash myself at the third attempt - previous attempt I got my dressing gown half off and changed my mind. Mum has decided I should move back to my house after Christmas as she can look after herself (she's done no shopping for at least 10 years and no serious housework for 8 or 9, possibly longer). However I long to be back in my house and will continue to do as much as possible for mum (but not up to daily visits lasting several hours).
I will work on two of the food cupboards, prepare bags and labels for the Reverse Advent calendar (1 item given away on day one, 2 on day 2 etc), some food that mum has gone off (she likes lots of bread with tomato soup but is not eating bread so tomato soup not being used) for the food bank, and items that only I like (crispbread, canned beans and pulses - brought lots with me at the start of the pandemic and these are some of those replaced as we went along). I'd also like to have some clothes and basic medicines at both houses before the end of the week.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9 -
