Thanks for all the good wishes and positive vibes. They seem to be working as I felt a lot better by yesterday and , between naps, cleared out my DD room. She is a grown up but it was a treat plus I found some things under her bed that are not hers so removed.
Today stiff and sore but feeling better and as its wet won't feel too bad doing more decluttering. We are also having to move some furniture round in the through lounge as her computer arrived from her new job yesterday and it has 2 screens. We are putting up a desk she bought in the dining room as DH has talky meetings online as he works from home and so will she be. Her play computer will remain in the computer room. Happily not too much of an issue to do this as the area has been decluttered, mostly, for some time
@Liverpool_Anne. I will also look out some baby items and possibly some toiletries Last time I tried to find anything locally for a Women's refuge I couldn't find anywhere.. I'm back. Having done my 2021/2021 and halfway through my turtle challenge of 60 items out this month (probably more, needs updating). I've moved on to my house with a view to making it so that I can at least go there during the day and sit in peace and quiet (also very handy base for the library, 2 exhibition spaces and doing shopping around town).
My DS3 and his Beloved are in residence and when I was also there at least part of the time it was messy but I would push back the rubbish when I could. I've had problems with doing my own housework for the past 4 or 5 years. Mainly mental health and lack of time but lots of physical problems - arthritis in my shoulder means I can only put one plate at a time away in the cupboard. I struggle with a mop and bucket (actually I've given up using one but do things like shuffling round on wet then dry rags), I worked out a way to clean the kitchen window but it took most of the afternoon and bending down or standing up for too long makes me go dizzy.
When I was with the Specialist Weight Management Team, the occupational therapist visited and there were aids I could have to make life easier (like a perching stool which I had in the recovery period after my hip replacement) but the house was so overstuffed that it was actually a hazard and bringing in any more was impossible. I did get three handles to help me get in and out of the bath and the OT loved my stairs technique - hold onto the handrail, go up one foot then the other if I have to and on the bannister side I can put my fingertips on the first floor landing (part of the bedroom for many years) then as I go further up I can wrap my hand round the 'spindles' (I know the proper word for them but have temporarily mislaid it) and finally get hold of the top rail.
Sorry I'm wittering. I can work out ways of doing most things, usually a bit at a time with lots of resting in between and cheat like mad the rest of the time. I keep wipes or rags in the bathroom and wipe a bit every time I visit - I've even worked out all the bits I can reach/ clean whilst sitting on the toilet (not necessarily whilst using it) including all the bars on the heated towel rail, the nearer side of the bath, most of the floor. My pre pandemic routine was to stay at home until about lunchtime (sometimes doing admin or shopping for mum) and then take a taxi to mum's and stay there until 7 pm - 9 pm in the evening (earlier in winter). When I got back home, I would sometimes tackle the mess and at other times, look, decided I cba and take myself to my room.
A lot of stuff came with Beloved when she moved in - two full carloads and then they found another car load of her stuff in the attic. I wanted her to feel at home so made space for her things wherever I could - she's a gadget girl and I'm really not. overnight I acquired 5 x as many kitchen gadgets as I've ever owned (not a clue what some of them are or how they work) and more appear on a regular basis. DS2 and Beloved both have MH problems (as do I) and tend to create 'nests'
Since March 2020 I've been staying with my mum at her bungalow and we are both a bit fed up. Mum said that I could move back home but in addition to the mess I can no longer get myself in and out of the bath and the stairs are a problem - some days I can get up and down, sometimes it's a real struggle and not an experience I want to repeat. As a compromise I've suggested I sleep at the bungalow, stay with mum when she's feeling ill, has an appointment or we are expecting a delivery but try to get to my house twice a week during the day. I've been ill recently so I've only managed 1 day in 3 weeks (and only to town sometimes, not made it home).
Lots of rest, multivitamins and now cod liver oil tablets and crossing off any number of check ups, have given me a bit of energy
so from last Friday (19th) I've spent a few hours a day tackling the mess. DS3 is committed to having paid cleaners in, once they can see what needs cleaning and paying for a skip/ waste removal service at some point. So I've set another target of 2021 (not told them yet, don't want to frighten them) and so far I am on 211/ 2021 (between 23 and 47 items each time I've been). I started off sitting on the couch picking up cans/ paper and card/ general rubbish then sat on a kitchen chair to work my way across the room. One day was mainly spent cleaning under, around and near the chinchilla cage (Beloved must be very down because she's normally devoted to them). I may not reach my target but I'm going to try, always working slowly and carefully and resting when I have to.

Hope you are feeling a bit better too today Grannykate.
Thank you Liverpool-Anne, I have a lot on at the moment but will get on the case.
Enjoy your party Mrs SD and happy Birthday to Mr SD. xx
Off to Sheffield to help DD1's BF move house. Lots of snow on the ground making driving difficult. I am used to snow but it still worries city boy Mr V.
Really enjoyed the Christmas fair. Saw lots of people I haven't seen since we moved. Only bought a home made apple crumble and some lovely Christmas cards.
Gotta go, already late.

Abandoned Christmas shopping in favour of hibernation and may have “accidentally” acquired the odd Black Friday deal or two - for myself though, not for other people.Really need to sort out my shoes when I found a pair of clogs in the wardrobe shortly after hitting the “order” button, Ah well.
On a more positive note, tatty doormats gone and better quality ones down which I hope will keep slightly less mud from coming in. Gitdog isn’t convinced and keeps tiptoeing across.Double duvet freegled, along with an under bed bag. Old coat gone into the rags pile for the tip,
Sorted out the kitchen containers and got rid of all the ones with no lids,
Started going through the spending diary and adding to my spreadsheets (only 8 months behind) when my desktop started making ominous whirring noises. Hoping it’s something easy I can fix myself as I’ve not long put a new hard drive in which would be a waste of I then needed a whole new computer.
I have to say there are some very helpful people on the techie bit of the forum. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.8 -
Decluttering ahead of carpenter starting has commenced which has included a selection of dead phones and a couple of pairs of spectacles.A quick question on our local Reuse f*cebook page has found a) a local independent optician who still recycles glasses and a b) charity that takes small electrics and recycles them to fund their work helping young families.I do love our Reuse Project f*cebook page. Everything is free, doesn’t necessarily go to the first person who comments and the admins are excellent in clamping down on people trying to resell freebies. All sorts of things are listed there too, everything from food to kids clothes and household bits to craft supplies.✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅(DSis🏅)
