Morning all. Thanks for the gold stars @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, they are very much appreciated! DH has almost finished the garage - everything has a place he just needs a couple more containers to store them a bit better (and to make sure they don't get wet from the odd gap in the roof!). He even repurposed an old spice rack we found in the kitchen and added it to his workbench so he can use it to rest tools and paintbrushes in as he's working on something.
Glad to have inspired you @vulpix, but we usually get side-tracked by things too 😂 not quite sure what came over us this weekend but hey, we got it done apart from the cosmetic touches.
Next on the hit list is definitely finishing the organising of the spare room wardrobe. Probably going to make a start on the big box of paperwork this weekend as we need to start pulling documents together ready for re-mortgaging the house and at the moment most of them have just been thrown into a huge plastic tub with a "I'll get round to it later" mentality. Well now it's later and I need to organise it once and for all.
Also I know it's only September but I started planning out Christmas gifts yesterday 😳 I usually order from small businesses so like to get things ordered before everyone else has the same idea and that way I'm not panicking about postage delays etc.
Hugs to all that need them, hope you all have a good day!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20179 -
Just a quick check in to celebrate that I have finally thrown away one of the tops I have worn faithfully at least 3 days a week throughout pandemic and probably off and on for 10 years before that. It was comfy and washed and dried quickly but frayed and holes all round edges. Today I am wearing a rather faded top I have had at least 25 years - this may be the next one to go. It was one of 2 for £8 in Mr S sale so I may have had my money's worth.

Cough, cough, cough. Fed up of it now.
Skogar, the cat cushion is made with spare fabric from DD2's curtains from when she was about 8.. It is the shape of a cats head with buttons for eyes. The fabric is marimekko, unikko. red and orange flowers. Groovy. Possibly not how you imagined it. I have posted pics here before but have forgotten how I did it. I will try again.
I have wobbled with the Aran cushions. I don't need them but my lovely Mum made them. Because I make things too, I appreciate how much time and effort went into them.
I am with you on being organised for Christmas ruby-eskimo. I went shopping in my gift stash the other day for DD2's Birthday which is next week. Forgot to say ,she started nurse training last week. Not remotely like the training I did in the 1970's. Cap ,cape, polished shoes, strict rules.
Granny kate your top owes you nothing enjoy your new favourite.
Today I will venture back into the spare room. I am not going to touch the Christmas stuff yet. I will concentrate on the linens.

@vulpix, I can understand the aron cushions, my Mum used to knit aron jumpers and cardigans and I have 3 of my own and 1of hers that is worn at the elbow, she wore it a lot, and I cannot bring myself to bin it. My sister and niece got the newer ones when we were clearing her clothes. How about putting some new fabric on the back to stiffen them a bit, maybe in a fabric that goes with your decor now so you can keep them a bit longer.
Yesterday I dealt with 3 frogs, did 3 loads of washing, line dried and folded but not yet ironed. Sorted the veg rack, checked the freezer and wrote a shopping list. Today I have been shopping, all put away and sourced some pallets for the log store build I have planned, builders in the road have kindly said they will put any they have in my front garden10 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Well Tuesday was a complete wash out literally & figuratively ☹️ Managed to write a five day menu plan & shopping list for DH who went shopping in the rain & returned in the rain 😉 I spent the day reading & watching rubbish TV, but did make dinner from scratch - mushroom risotto & very yummy it was too 😋 The hm soup was quite tasty too. Wudupa.

Wednesday is very dull, dark & overcast but not raining yet 🤞 Feeling a bit maudlin today as it would have been my late DM’s 84th birthday - she has been gone over 13 years now ☹️ but the sun has come out to remind me that mum loved the sunshine 🙂 & DH has just told me the joyous news that another baby boy has just been born - DH is now a great great uncle 7 times over 🙂 🥳 I will wrap the baby blanket I knitted & write the card today. Probably post tomorrow. No longer maudlin 🙂
1743 Large bag of office recycling - recycled
GrannyKate, yippee to little people - the next generation of declutterers 👏 Well done on the decluttering & good luck to you & DS2 when putting together the furniture 🤞Great work on retiring the top 😉👏
vulpix, what a lovely offer to TC77 👏🙂 What a shame about the curtains ☹️ but hopefully one of the other 2 pairs will prove ideal 🤞 Excellent work on tackling the boxes in the spare room - lots of decluttering👏 All your previous decluttering is paying off - you have the space to put things away 🥳 What a lovely idea to pick a different cs each week 🏅 Good luck on your weight decluttering 🤞 Also love that your hand crafted items will have a new lease of life - I think everyone loves handmade items 🙂
I have taken so long to write this post that I have run out of charge, so will be back later 😔

Just taking 5. Thank goodness I had a clear out before we moved. Have to confess to putting some things in the loft just now, Temporary I hope. A folding brass table and a holdall of dressing up clothes and a box of Mr V's ephemera. Builder contacted, you can see daylight up there where you shouldn't be able to.
I have changed the curtains for a pair that fit and actually are a bit more me,not as showy as the others. We have put a mirror on the exposed brick chimney breast, it tones it down a bit as it is dominant in the room.
I did toy with the idea of turning the cushions into something else,we shall see.
Lovely baby news Mrs SD. Born on your Mum's Birthday too xxx

917, DS t shirt - outgrown
918. beautiful gin glass broken & it was full of a lovely G&T at the time
TC77 - I didn't use a pattern I just knitted a rectangle to fit the cushion pad I had & made it slightly wider for seams & a good few inches longer so I could tuck a flap in to close it. Very simple as I'm a knitting beginner but its nice chunky wool so looks pretty good...
Vulpix - Your Mum's Aran cushion covers sound beautiful - I hope I get to the stage that I can knit like that... (oh & your room looks lovely)
