Thank you for your kind and wise words Skogar.
It is done! curtains ferreted out and they are up! I like them and I wasn't sure if they would be ok with the bare brick chimney breast but they look ok. They have turned the room more fancy than I would normally go for but I will live with it a while and see if we get on.
I was searching the net earlier for something to put in the fireplace hole in our bedroom. Saw rustic shelves and shot outside into the wilderness upper garden (up steps onto a terrace) and retrieved an old wooden crate left by my tenant. It has had a bath and when it is dry I will see how it looks. There is another one out there that I will bath too if I can use it.
The curtains that have come down are grey velvet and are earmarked to become part of my upcoming patchwork quilt.
I have decided that when I begin to sort the spare room boxes I will bag stuff up for the charity shop and not try and sell it. A radical shift in thinking for me. I CAN get out of the frame of mind that I have to recoup some money for things. I have been very poor in my past but I can help others now by sending stuff to the charity shop. I have also decided that this round of donations will go to a local to DD1 charity which rehomes dogs. All charities are hard hit now but this one is busier than ever with less money.
I have enjoyed hearing of your gardens. I have missed the garden year completely. I will spend the winter on sorting the house and thinking about what to do with this garden. The garden is spread out but quite a large area and none of it can be seen from the windows!

No decluttering this week, have been having some lodger hassle which is now sorted so when my nerves stop jangling I will start again. Not sleeping well which doesn't help.Magnolia Stellata9

Stellar - I do hope you get some sleep, makes everything so much more difficult.
@EnergyShifter so.glad to hear about your DS sounds like good progress and also love the idea of knitting a cushion cover. I haven't knitted for years and sounds like something I could do. Any dos or don'ts- did you use a pattern?

Monday was another dry summery day. DH went out to give blood. When he got back he went round to neighbour ‘I’ & sorted out her hanging bike rack. We then moved some tomato plants to a new position & did a bit of garden tidying. Currently whizzing through The Shipyard Girls books - I have re-read the first seven & just started book 8. Prepped & roasted all vegetables for an hm soup. Dinner was oven chips, bacon, fried eggs & baked beans. Wudupa.

EnergyShifter, maintenance mode is good 👏 So pleased to hear that DS1 is settling down & nice to hear that exH’s next visit will mean you can take a trip to the coast to recharge your Life Batteries 🙂 Good work on the decluttering 👏 Shame about the gin glass & the G&T ☹️
Wow ruby_eskimo 🤩 You & your DH certainly seized the bull by the horns 👏 No wonder you are pleased & feeling accomplished - kitchen & under-stairs pantry both sorted 🙂👏 & one Gold Star ⭐️ ⭐️ each to add to your collection 🙂 Just curious, did your DH manage to finish sorting the garage?😉 Btw excellent decluttering 👏 & I hope you managed your well earned rest 🙂
Well done nannywindow 👏 you made good use of the dry weather 🙂 & what a great result with the excess toys 👏 one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way & one medal 🏅 for your DD for helping you declutter toys to a new home 👏🙂 Hope the dental appointment goes well & the sneezing doesn’t return 🤞
vulpix, lovely comments for EnergyShifter & 3secondmemory 👏🙂 Sorry to hear that you have had a setback in your recovery ☹️ Please don’t compound the setback by doing too much 😔 I know you have been inspired by ruby_eskimo but do give yourself another day (at least) to recover 😉 The spare room can wait another day 🙂 Wise words from skogar 👏 Finding the curtains & putting them up is a major success 👏 especially as you thought you had donated them 😉 Well done on reaching a decision on the contents of the boxes 👏 & I imagine the charity you have chosen will be extremely grateful. Sounds like a decent sized garden & I hope you enjoy planning out next years gardening projects 🤞
You are welcome Happy_Kitties 🙂 Good luck with the shoeboxes 🤞
What a lovely post skogar 🙂 Sounds like your decluttering is proving successful & well done on sorting so many rooms 👏 I quite agree that regular input seems less daunting than blitzing especially as you only have 2 rooms left 🙂😉 Good luck with your bedroom blitz 🤞😉
You were quite productive as well Finstickle 👏 The family visit & BBQ sound lovely 🙂Hope the weather stays dry whilst you are putting the garden to bed for the winter 🤞
Sorry to hear you have not been sleeping well stellata ☹️ but hopefully know that the lodger hassle has been sorted you might be more relaxed & able to sleep 🤞
Great work TC77 👏 Good luck with your dad’s paperwork 🤞

Made a start with black bag decluttering. Emptied and refilled under the stairs sans a few cardboard boxes and their contents, filled a bag for life for the or a charity shop with Christmas present tat mostly, and started a bag for a tip run. All that from the passage so roll on the rest of the week. Note to self - book a tip visit.

Many thanks for the encouragement Mrs SD.Started decluttering paperwork last night. I got much further than I thought I would and it is nearly done now. Noticed that there was very little of OH's in the pile (usually there is a lot) so I think he has already been through his.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons8

Tuesday is rain, rain & more rain. So my ploy didn’t work ☹️ I will explain - the reason for starting the garden tidy was that DH had booked someone to prune our olive tree today & I didn’t want to jinx it by mentioning it especially as the weather was being so pleasant 😔 Oh well never mind - the arborist has cancelled but rebooked for next Monday 🤞 No gardening but I can start on the extensive indoor To Do list or maybe just read 😉😉
You are on a roll -taff 👏 great work 👏
Well done with the paperwork skogar 👏 It would appear that OH is onboard as well 🙂 if already sorted paperwork 👏 With 2 of you decluttering it should be a breeze 🤞

I have been awol with other things but just a brief report in. I could not return to my gardening as planned as it is cold and wet here today. Some tidying needed after small people overnight but they were really good after school yesterday and completely emptied garden cabin (Mostly toys and garden furniture) vacuumed it! and then put everything back neatly. I need to pop out in a bit then I will do a quick flit round.
1466 Cabin tidied (well I did the odd bit)
1467 Mixed plastic to coop recycling
1468 Large bag of garden waste to tip
1469 Quiz questions done for Thursday
I did buy an actual book to read this week but it is relevant to research I am doing. Replacement bits received from the Swedish place yesterday so hopefully DS2 will be able to put last bits of furniture together at weekend.

TC77 I wish we lived near, I have 4 beautiful Aran patterned cushions with feather pads to give away. My Mum made them for me for a sofa I got rid of about 2 years ago. She knitted the fronts all different patterns and I knitted the plain backs. If I were to have a knitted cushion again I would make a material back as both sides knitted is too flexible particularly with feather pads.
Well, the old crate in the grate is staying, it looks good with a candle filled lantern in it and a jewellery box on top. The curtains are not ,I know, I get on my own nerves too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are too wide, sadly. I have found 2 other pairs which may be ok. Not tried them yet.
I have spent several hours unpacking things in the spare room. Towels put in the airing cupboard in the bathroom ,spare bed sheets and duvet covers in the blanket box. Lots of things will go, this week a couple of bags for the dog charity. I will try to do a different charity each week.
I have realised that on the 18th September it is 14 weeks to Christmas so I will try to lose 1lb a week for 14 weeks. I hope to have the spare room functional in 14 weeks too.
729. white table cloth made for a table I no longer have

740. cat shape cushion
741. klimnt wall hanging
743. 2 pillowcases
744. double duvet cover
748. 4 Aran knit cushions.
Many of these items I have crafted/made. I enjoyed making them and hope someone else will like them. I am not in my Mums league for crafting but my work is not bad.
Love to all
