Morning MrsSD and fellow declutterers,
@vulpix yes the YSP was a good day out, we chose a day when it was sunny so we took a picnic and took advantage of the weather that way 🙂 that was nice to have that family time.
Forgot to add that I took two child booster seats to the tip on Saturday, our daughter is 10 in October and is very tall as well, so she has definitely grown out of using these seats 😉
Cheers 🙂12 -
I have neglected the housework and decluttering in a big way the past few weeks, Yikes. I woke up today and thought enough is enough.
I have washed the bed covers and done another load of washing and it's in the tumble dryer now. I am keeping my cats out of the bedroom completely as they keep leaving fur all over the bed!
I have dusted and vacuumed and moved the paperwork clutter on surfaces into all one place.
I am going to deep clean the bathroom tonight and then have a hot bath with candles. I have two magazines to read tonight as well as I got an extra one sent to me. They can go into the recycling bin afterwards.11 -
Just attacked the back bedroom and decluttered a lot of paperwork relating to a previous job that I left in 2016. Almost all of it in fact, just kept a few first aid certificates[for what I don't know] and some pension stuff. Few more bits that together I'll list for sale. It's tidy now and I originally went up there to tidy it because a shouty heating man was going to come and replace the thermostat. Lo and behold, there is a light on the thermostat and it appears to be working so we've saved ourselves 150 quid there. I'll phone and cancel tomorrow. And make a note to buy batteries for the thermostat. I've rationalised ::snigger:: the stuff in boxes so I have three boxes empty now. I also decluttered a mouse the cat brought in and sent it away on holiday next door where it will hopefully stay and not come back again...The cats have not realised it's gone and are still prowling around the places they found it last night..I was up till 4 am trying to catch the damn thing. FInally got rid of it at twelve today. It was so cute though...

So… having been through loads of outfit images…
I have decided I am ok with black shoes and a navy outfit. But not dark brown shoes with navy - just my personal preference, nothing to do with fashion! So the navy shoes and bag are in the debating to donate pile.
I have just one brown winter skirt that I really love… but if that ever goes, then the brown shoes and bag would definitely leave too. Used to wear a lot more of it.
clothes given to sister and plan to drop the rest of definite donations tomorrow (day off).

Morning all!
I aspire to have a capsule wardrobe @newlywed but it's difficult because I want a rainbow of colours and like interesting patterns on my clothes. Have to stop myself buying new things by saying I already have a green dress, yes this is a different shade of green, but it's still green so I don't need another green dress (that was a literal conversation in my head a few weeks ago). I've been through my wardrobe and done an initial cull and will re-evaluate what I still haven't worn in a year's time.
Your work wardrobe sounds very similar to mine @Floss - a dress, black tights, cardigan and boots. Although the warmer weather has had me stumped recently as I used to work in a fully air conditioned office so could wear tights all year round, whereas this new one has no air-con, the windows don't open and it gets VERY warm. Must say today is a meeting free day at home so I'm still sat here in my dressing gown checking emails because I can't be bothered 😆
Had a weekend off from the decluttering but helped DH build a new workbench for his garage with the off cuts we had left over from other projects (plus a bit of ply that the old owners left). He's pleased he now has something to use to paint the new internal doors on (when we eventually get round to ordering them). House is looking clean and tidy apart from the spare room and the massive pile of laundry we have.
Right best get back to the paid stuff, hope everyone is doing well and hugs to all that need them.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201711 -
Newly wed , if you are looking to minimal wardrobe, check out project 333.I didn’t do it but sounds a good way to condense clothes down and see how little you actually wear, it involves choosing 33 items for perhaps a season, and seeing how little you actually need. I think some people in the forums have tried it, but a quick search of internet will bring it up.
personally I only have black boots and shoes and a pair of nude “heels” and a pair of tan boots. But it will depend on what colors suit you and maybe that’s something you can find better when you minimize your wardrobe.I’m lucky to have lots of wardrobe space😉 but could certainly do with losing some clothes again.! Good luckFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.9
