pamsdish, Well done on decluttering the Christmas 🎄 & decorations to the loft 👏. Good luck with the clothing & bedding disposal. I hope the wool/cashmere coat brought back lovely memories of your DH 🙂 Sounds like he was a well dressed gentleman 🙂Do I need it or just want it.9

Today I took everything out of our pots & pan cupboard. I first anti-bac the cupboard then scrubbed with elbow grease soap to get rid of the tough stains and to give it a proper clean...probs the first time in 3 years it's been done
I didn't get rid of any pots or pans as they were given to me by my nan and so they are 'special' to me but also they are ones we use constantly.
I did get rid of some plastic take away tubs where the lids didn't fit and I went through 2 note books where I am currently typing up anything i need to keep for reference / book etc then I will recycle the pages.
I also went through a folder with paper and again will type anything needed to keep then recycle.
I know going through the folder & notebooks isn't really decluttering but It would help me to keep everything in one place electronically so I have no loose papers / hard to find notebooks.
I also put all of our christmas stuff away (apart from the last few christmas cups we used as they are drying) and did a quick check in the fridge, threw out some veg and out of date stuff.
It's slowly getting there! Not done as much as I wanted to this weekend but I was bed ridden most of the weekend due to a tummy bug so I can't really feel too bad

Today has been spent getting all the Christmas decs down and the living room emptied and cleaned. The only thing left ‘lying’ about are my candles. DD’s room tidied up (again!) She does love to play but not tidy!
Quite a lot out today, 8 Xmas decs and a bag of packaging binned. Hoodie, gilet, 2 baseball caps to charity bag, along with a candle and holder that I just don’t like anymore! Quick sort through paperwork and burned what needed binned on fire. Christmas cards- sorted and binned/recycled. A broken book and toy to bin. Also, the remaining crackers pulled by the kids and the contents disposed off (thankfully this years just had stickers and quizzes in them- I don’t know why I waste money on them!) Finally, the box that our tv came in that my other half had been keeping just in case!
Takes me to 102/500.
Not quite followed my plan this weekend but feel like I’m achieving something. Xxx15 -
I thought I posted earlier but my post seems to have gone awol.No physical decluttering but am well on the way to sorting out both an electrician and an IFA which I have been procrastinating about for a good couple of years now.
And a happy half hour spent inhaling surgical spirit fumes while I cleaned my somewhat festering computer keyboard.ETA
In a final office frenzy, I have binned my degree paperwork, keeping only the final year project. I’ve not looked at it on in 30 years and it’s well out of date. Also binned 3 offers worth of training information from a previous job because again I’m not planning to return to the field and I do it will need updating anyway. Also got rid of the old folders, 3 cardboard boxes and 2 bags of tatty bubble wrap/polystyrene filling. No one wants it (unsurprisingly) and I was only hanging on to it because I hate things not being recycled, but needs must. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.18 -

Had to do some work this morning so consequently I took it a bit more easy on the decluttering front (which is probably a good thing). On reflection, I think my intense desire to declutter over the last couple of days was subconsciously due to knowing that my free time was coming to an end. Work starts again in earnest tomorrow....

@MrsSD - I only just saw the "gold star" list on last years thread - I love it!! You really are a great motivator - I wish there was some kind of MSE award for great "Thread Leaders" that we could nominate you for- you would definitely win hands down!!

Good grief - 35 pages already!! I've only read a couple of pages and am going to go back and catch up shortly but I'm already impressed with what everybody's done so far.I'm game again for this year, but I'm changing strategy. I eventually got rid of 1761 items (I still can't change my signature to reflect this, but I'm going to try deleting it and see what happens). It's a good haul, but I was demoralised because it wasn't 2020.I wanted something that would keep me on track, without making me feel I've failed if I miss the target IYSWIM. So this year I've decided that I'm going to 'perform an act of decluttering every day'. This will, hopefully, be a bag/box/drawer/shelf/surface etc but it might just be 1 thing (eg a used up candle) - or even using leftovers from the fridge/freezer or finishing a craft project. (More like the 'Minimise' on the Make Do, Mend and Minimise thread, I suppose.Anyway, that's 365 actions, but I'm going to keep a tally of the items as well to give myself a sense of how much junk is leaving the house. Hope that makes sense? So far:1 Jan - Working through my stash of candles (I may be sometime...
)
1-6 tealights7-9 Christmas scented candles2 Jan - Sorting my knitting stash with DD10-11 Circular needles12 Cable needle13-16 100g balls of DK yarn17-19 100g balls of chunky yarn20-21 500g balls of DK yarn22 100g ball of Aran yarn3 Jan - Ferreting through the freezer for (Christmas leftovers) for tea23 Breast of chicken24 Cornish Pasty25 Last slice of chocolate meringue roulade - box to recycleHope everyone had as enjoyable a Christmas as possible and wishing all a Good New Year.Off to try and change my signature. AGAIN! If I try often enough, maybe it'll stick...
A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
