I can’t even begin to keep count. My brilliant declogging of my inboxes let me to try and sort out my bank account. I’ve opted to cancel most of my subscriptions for the summer. I don’t watch the TV so I won’t miss that at all.Back to the Banking - being virtuous and organised, I paid my rent early and set up a monthly standing order. I woke up this morning and nearly died when I saw my bank account nearly £400 overdrawn. 🤦♀️ I obviously didn’t notice or register what date the SO would start so now I have to wait until 7 o’clock to ring the bank and try and sort it out.I was hoping to do a quick trip down to the charity shop this morning but now I’m all anxious and out of sorts. Can’t even pick the washing out even though it’s beautiful and it would be dry, without creases in an hour or so.I don’t know how many items I will be getting rid of next weekend but my youngest has just bought a car and he’s going to drive up with his partner on Saturday. He can take all his stuff that’s been dumped in my spare room since he graduated university nearly 2 years ago.
i’m sure it amounts to 2 to 3 m³. It’ll be good to get it cleared.12 -

I was on 2 full days of training Thurs & Friday (Zoom) . Course was great but I was really tired after so spent the weekend resting & recovering, walking, phone-calls with friends and actually meeting friends - which has been much needed! Had a lovely day out yesterday walking by the Thames up near Kew and a freezing outdoor pub lunch! It was weird getting on a Tube - realised I haven't done that for well over a year! So no decluttering for me & there won't be today as I've got a very busy return to work! But I did keep to my morning routine!
Sending love & good wishes to anyone who needs / wants them and kudos to those who are making headway with their decluttering!

Morning all! DH redecorated the spare room last week and while I was trying to put things back, I ended up getting rid of about 150 items! (I did start counting and then gave up when I ran out of room on my paper!) Most of it was papers, packaging, cardboard, pens that didn't work, cables that we don't need and a few books as well. Now I have quite a sizeable pile for the charity shop and the recycling bin is almost full again 😆 Starting to sort out the desk drawers which have been annoying me for a while so there will probably be more things going out this week too.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201710 -

Good morning,
What wild weather yesterday. We had a power cut for a couple of hours last night.
Help me ! I have washed the superking valance and fitted sheet. I have kept them with a view to making pillow cases. Will I do it? I am still using pillow cases that were my Grandmothers !!!! 100% cotton but they are getting to the end of their very long life.
The 2 spare bedrooms are looking very empty. They both have chests of drawers which contain clothes and spare curtains, table cloths ,spare bedding etc. I will keep the drawers but have a sort out to see if anything can go. I will keep the trundle bed and the two bedsides tables I made from the old drum and the bomb case. There is a single pine wardrobe which can go. It contains many banana boxes of Christmas decorations. I have culled these previously and will do so again at Christmas. The stuff from the oak drawers and tall boy that I sold has been banana boxed and labelled. Can I dare to admit to having Christmas blankets, cushions and a Christmas patchwork quilt.
My biggest concern is emptying the loft. Neither of us are as strong as we were and both sons live away and are busy. SS works permanent nights as a paramedic and DS is head of English at a High School. There is a quantity of furniture up there and boxes of the kids stuff. Can't send DS' stuff just yet. They are going to put their flat up for sale after the exam season at school and their wedding. They don't have storage in the flat for boxes and boxes of books! (Neither do I but I have housed them all these years a few more weeks wont hurt.)
Plans for today, get some ingredients for corned beef hash in the slow cooker, photograph more stuff to sell. Tidy up,cleaner coming for her fortnightly visit tomorrow.
Hope you got the bank sorted 3secondmemory.

whoopie !
have been to recycling/dump.
I will not count the 6 black bags of grass etc but I will count the 6 or 7 heavy duty mats as I had a mini battle on my hands to get rid of them. They have been in the garden for years but he has insisted he will clean them. Now they are petrifying so they had to go. He only submitted to my insistence when I told him they were covered in fox poops which is true. It wasn't a pleasant car journey.
Bitsy was thinking of you. Put outside some rusty tools in the hope that someone would have the fortitude to rescue them as you did but alas after 2 days had to admit defeat. They went with all the other stuff.
So, as the mats were huge and because it was such an awful job am counting that and the tools as 2 bags. Ergo (love that word) 21/104

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
The BH Monday was wild, wet & windy 🥳 - a typical BH 😉 So much for my good intentions of doing something, anything 😔 DH zizzed some peelings etc to feed the worms. DSis had a bath I cooked dinner - chicken fried in butter, boiled potatoes, tinned sweetcorn & frozen peas. Also did the wudupa. Just remembered I descaled the kettle 🥳Tuesday started bright & sunny with a strong chilly wind but has now become overcast & very cold & just waiting for the heavens to open. Builder J is on his own - finishing the wall next door.907 - 911 Kitchen recycling, plastic takeaway box & lid, drinks cans, plastic bottle, glass jar - recycled
912 - 913 Kitchen detritus, filter cartridge - binned
914 - 915 Two of DSis’s unwanted tops into charity bag
Well Done GrannyKate 👏 still more than me 😉 What is it with emails 😖 they seem to breed like odd socks 🙃
Wow mothernerd 🤩 Everyday you work so hard & get so much done 👏 it really puts me to shame 😔 Not only do you declutter inside & outside the house but you also look after your mum 👏 I think I might designate you as The Eighth Wonder of the World 😉 I am even dizzier than balabooberlies especially with the next post. You plan your tasks with military precision 👏 Chairs as workstations - what a great idea 💡👏 A medal 🏅 is on its way to you for converting something tasteless to something delicious 😋
Good work newlywed 👏
Emm-in-a-pickle really not sure that you ‘could have done more’ 😉 Excellent work & what a bonus finding the missing stick blender 👏 Confession time 😔 I have an in-service stick blender that works well but last year I bought a prettier one that is still in its box 😔 I was tempted by MrL’s middle aisle - not a need just a want 😉 I definitely agree that flat surfaces are a magnet for ‘stuff’ 😠 but at least the ‘stuff’ hides the dust 😂
Sounds like you have tried very hard to help your friend, moneyonmymindsam 👏 and I imagine it is not the first time 🙂 As you say, it can be a thankless task & you have finally reached breaking point - your friend will miss you now that you ‘are out’
Good work Gem-gem 👏 Love the way you look at a 5 mile lunchtime walk as ‘free exercise 🙂
Well done ilovetea 👏
Excellent work TC77 👏
Good work balabooberlies 👏 Good for you - persistence paid off 👏 I was especially impressed by you enticing foxes into the garden - only joking 🙃
Great work short_bird 👏 Fingers crossed that the printer is reparable 🤞
Oh poo 3secondmemory ☹️ Everything crossed that you can sort it out 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Hope your son has a big car - sounds like a lot of stuff will be going 🙃
EnergyShifter, I think you should be counting your self care weekend in your numbers 🙂 I am still awaiting news that we can start going INTO pubs as I am not as brave as you 😉
Excellent work ruby_eskimo 👏 A newly decorated room & 150 items out 🥳 You are on a roll 🙂
vulpix, hopefully the power cut was whilst you were trying to sleep 😉 I think that you WILL make pillowcases but only when you have time & the weather is awful 🙂 You have done an amazing amount of work 👏 so one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 🙂 Re the loft clearance perhaps get an odd job person in - might be money well spent 😉
