Mum once asked if I could hang up all the garden chairs to make the garden look tidier, but those garden chairs are 'workstations'. If I put clothes out on the line and want a rest or go dizzy before coming back down the yard, I just sit in the nearest chair. I have one at the far end and can move soil with a trowel (I even did some spade digging sitting down last week). I can sit in the sunshine cutting plastic bottles in two to make small pots for 'potting on'. I have a chair by the old dining table for sitting down painting lobs and one by the gate (mum used it yesterday) for sitting waiting for deliveries, or filling a bucket or washing my hands at the tap.
The ones in my room were put there so that I could sit to gather up stuff from the floor (less likely to go dizzy and if I do I can just stop for a moment) and doesn't hurt my back. A lot of it is breaking things down into stages. Some of them are tedious boring jobs or affect a particular part of my body. It's learning what things you can do and different ways to do them. A few years ago I chopped off an overhanging branch that made mum's doorway dark and the path slippery in winter. The branch was only about 3" thick and was down in no time. However once down it was about 5' wide and longer than I was tall. I dragged it round to the back of the house and in fifteen minute chunks I started chopping the ends of the branches with secateurs. I propped it against the garden table and sat beside it. I brought the bin round to drop handfuls of leaves in as I chopped them off (no bending to pick it all up after). After 15 minutes I would go inside and sit in a comfy chair. Sometimes I needed 15 minutes rest, sometimes it would be 2 hours, sometimes I called it a day. But over the course of a week to ten days I cut it all down and fed it into the green bin. When I reached the 'skeleton' I put it on the table and did the thinner branches, then used the pruning saw and then finally the tree saw, but only a bit at a time.
Going to go and have chilli now. Made a rather mediocre spag bol a few weeks ago, froze it in half portions to have with baked potatoes and then it sat there (because it wasn't tasty - lots of lentils and not much else - and I didn't really fancy it). During my using up phase I I've taken some of it out, added chilli flakes, more tomato and a can of kidney beans, left it to mingle and then it was really good. So yesterday I hunted down the last two half portions and hoping the overnight magic has worked. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10 -

Hello again, I`ve been reading to catch up but not posting....Dumpling, welcome, I hope you find this thread helpful - I certainly do!Sam, your driving test reminded me of my first attempt, I was doing really well and blew it in the last few minutes on the way back to the test centre - I pulled out and nearly had a white car in my boot, just didn`t see it, no idea how I hadn`t seen it. It was a near miss but I knew it was a fail! My biggest regret was that I didn`t take another test for 14 years, so I admire your resolve and wish you the very best of luck as soon as may be.Leelad, I`m glad to hear your daughter is doing well now, Bless her.I`ve been mostly just keeping up with daily chores, but also looking after next door`s pets while they`ve been away - 2 dogs, 2 cats, just short walks, mostly letting the dogs in and out (big garden) and giving them a bit of company - though they do have each other and they don`t seem bothered while the folks are away. I couldn`t leave mine like that, but there it is, we`re all different, and they are good neighbours. They came home today, so my neighbourly duties done.I have finally got round to the bottom of the dresser, disposed of some out of date mustard, horseradish and tartare sauce, put a box in the car ready for CS with 3 teapots (I rarely drink tea and then it`s made in a mug) and a couple of ceramic bowls plus a terra cotta cooking dish I bought from CS years ago and never used. I found a stash of nice plain white candles, various sizes - put away and forgotten, they are going into the caravan ( doesn`t go anywhere just sits in the garden like a glorified shed, but good for dry storage of spare bedding, dog beds, floor rugs and cleaning stuff) I will use the candles this winter. Also found 2 lots of large plates (we use the next size down) that were put away and forgotten - I`m keeping one lot and CS -ing the others, but the keepers will also go in the caravan for now, then back in the dresser after the logburner is installed and the room is sorted. Likewise the large slow cooker - I do use it but not very often, it`s kept in there as the kitchen is small and cupboard space has to be prioritised. I found a box of new steak knives, and a new carving knife - bargains put away and forgotten, but now very welcome so straight into the kitchen with them. Also found a mixer/stick blender and attachments - I had wondered where that lot was, currently use a plain stick blender that`s been used to death but still works ok, so I`m keeping the newer kit, caravan for now but I`ll get acquainted with it when I refill the dresser. Main thing is the dresser will stay empty till it gets moved out of the room and moved back. The doors will be closed, and nobody will be tempted to put stuff in there! The drawers are next, a few bits of rubbish gone, and 3 packs of photos gone into the box in my room with old photos, but not getting fully cleared yet as the menfolk will just fill them up again! Likewise, the top - and the shelves of the back bit - I`ve got rid of loads of bits gradually but without leaving it empty - cleared the very top, too. ~In my experience, any truly empty Flat Surface is a magnet for Stuff. This one calls for Strategy, so anything now left on there is easily shifted and stops it being a dumping area.I am still trying to use freezer contents, and have thawed and cooked a large leg of lamb, so that`s a few days eating sorted, and a bit more space in the freezer.Could have done more, but at least I have done something.13

I've just decluttered some eye make up but still a lot that could go. I'm not really in an "outty" mood today.
Helped my friend with MH issues sort out her money and it was awful as she was angry, defensive and quite clearly not well.
We managed to sort a lot of it so she is in a better place but I do think it's a waste of time and that she won't change - as far as I'm concerned I've done what I can and I'm out. She has made the choices of what to spend her money on and I shall leave it as that.
Off to dog walking duties.
