A bit more cleared this morning. Thanks, Moneyonmymindsam, for the new tip for me- avoid the " bag lady syndrome ", and it encouraged a few more decisions. Actually, thanks everyone who posts, you are a great source of inspiration and also support knowing that others have clutter. So , with bag lady syndrome and DD saying ,good grief, why did Mum keep that, ringing in my ears I decluttered
1pair heavycurtains - been here six years and brought over in case of draught which with double glazing and shutters and no Atlantic wind we don't need
5 scarves - bagladyish.
2 blouses- as above.
1 tablecloth
1 shopper
1 bag wool
All for the CS.
11+152=163/365.
Hugs all round and stay safe everyone.
Bit_by_Bit,I will be thinking of you when I leave off my stuff around the back and staying well away from the front door. I admire everyone who works in a CS . My DD did voluntary work in one as a teenager, and she opened my eyes to the awfulness of some donations so I am always mindful of you who have to handle the goods.6 -
Turned a negative into a positive by using the bits that are annoying me (messy bits in my line of sight) into targets for my next attack. Not great this morning so trying to do three things every time I need to go to the bathroom - well the first lot turned into 10. priorities were get the drill out of the bag it's in and into the tool box (drill bit has poked through the bag about 1" and I caught my foot on it twice yesterday - nasty scratch on side of big toe) The other 2 out of 3 were taking mum's mints into the front room and into a cupboard and bringing the bag of ribbons back to bed with me - this turned into taking the paper bag, a small rubbish bag (including the old boots - look okay apart from the paint splashes but the insides are gone, bought some inner soles to make them more comfortable but two sub layers have gone too so it's time to say goodbye), bringing milk in (and unlocking the door), taking out the recycling from the kitchen and squashing all the tins. Some food items (inc tomato puree and mint sauce) stored in the fridge (lots of room in there).
Two ancient yoghurts out (not ones I usually use but added to festive stock - sometimes have vanilla yoghurt on tinned fruit but we had lots of ice cream to use and were both ill part of the time). I've also done a cull of embroidery threads (anything less than 12 " long or colours that I will never use) and a shuffle of the remaining thread cards. Now at the point where I can condense two drawers into one (base of drawer is big enough to lie A4 card flat and about 2" deep -holds one of those hobby box dividers and then a row down the side and one along the back or front I have been working towards this for a few weeks, maybe 200 threads in all). Each set of drawers has 3 cardboard drawers and I used to have 4 sets of drawers. I have used a lot and given some away - in 2019 I gave over 100 each to DS3's Beloved (to make friendship bracelets) and DS1's Best 'Man' who runs a sewing and craft group for young mothers in Glasgow (gave her several boxes of stuff including most of my normal sewing stuff) as she was just starting on embroidery stitches and I used to take them to the craft group I ran for a while for everyone to use. In 2018 I gave all my coloured aida fabric (bright colours first, then pastels later) and some linen, to a group that meets in the local library (do lots of fundraising for local charities) as I was struggling to sew on coloured fabric and in late 2019 I passed more to the YMCA who seem to have a lot of crafty shoppers - knitting patterns, magazines etc - I did ask if it would be something they could sell before taking them in. At one time I was very poor and my embroidery was dependent on the odd charity shop fabric find.
Right I've had a rest, back to work and will be back with a total later. Serious error this morning - went into the bathroom with my distance specs on so many bits to titivate - top of door frame (have been doing the sides often because mum and I both use them to hold onto when we're wobbly), little smudges under the grab bars, patches on the walls (go away sunshine, I've seen enough to keep me going for a week or two).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9 -
7 bits of make up decluttered - a year ago I had a drawer full
I hardly wear any make up these past couple of years. I am now down to a really small bag. I could declutter more and I know it's out of date (supposedly) but I just can't seem to get rid of it. Will try again tomorrow. I'm hoping to get it down to such a small amount that its easily accessible and will get used more often.
Did remind me of the saying all dressed up and no where to go.
Hope you are all OK, not so cold today.
Dogs bathed, rounds of washing drying (mainly stinky old dog towels) so not a bad outcome at all. Need to venture out to do our shopping tomorrow I'm hoping if I go early enough it won't be rammed.

30 items out. I have done a few bits of 5 minute tidy - moved some jigsaws around so they look more 'uniform', very simple but makes a huge difference visually. Two drawers of thread now condensed into one, broken drawer mended internally so now available for re-use (if I put less frequently used craft items in, it can make up the third drawer of a set and that cube box will look much better). Found a few bits I was missing - have a set of 2 wooden drawers, had the outer but couldn't find the drawers. One was right next to me holding my glasses, drinks, spare pills (next weeks), lip gloss etc but not found the other one yet. Will plod on - to be added to tomorrow's totalMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9

457 Thin jumper to CB- never really liked it so it can leave
458-463 6 more books sold
I am going to bring MIL's sewing box in to go through - see if I can find anything to watch on TV whilst doing it. Late DH made it for her when he was at school - about 58 years ago. I am hoping one of the granddaughters may like it later in life. I may add the contents to my sewing box but keep the box itself in my loft for a while at least.

Sold an eBay bar stool. It is being collected tomorrow. Already paid for. 4 items of clothing gone too. Counting us out the window. It is become more natural now to see things as either needed or not and then appropriate a room taken.

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Missed a day again & not because I was particularly busy 😔 So here goes
Thursday was a slightly drizzly day but lots of sunshine. Today (Friday) was a gloriously sunny day and warm in the sunshine but still very chilly in the shade.
Thursday DH & DSis went into city centre to get a new battery put in her phone. They had to leave the phone for 3 hours so came home & then went out again when DH got a text saying it was done. Funny peculiar thing is when DSis got the phone home there were several messages saying the phone was ready for pick up 🙄
I went into city centre to bank my December Premium Bond win (£25) & did a small shop in T*sc* - no cash used just the vouchers - finished the last amount from the 2019 voucher & £2.98 from one of the 2020 vouchers (DH & I signed up for a 3 year Lung Health Check Study so get £20 T*sc* voucher each year for 3 years)
