2021 MISSION DECLUTTER and CLEAN

Yesterday I tackled my mending. I was down to just one bra, and the mending had 6 bras in it with wires that had come out! I'm counting that as decluttering 6 items.
Today I worked hard on cleaning the house, didn't have breakfast until dinnertime, and now don't fancy what I'd prepared for dinner and it's already gone tea time. So it will be something simple.
This afternoon I worked on my to do box.
16 items dealt with, and I now have 10 items waiting for the next stepI have 13 other items waiting to be dealt with, or waiting for me tomake a decision on.
In the box were 4 pages from a book I intended to reattach them to, but the book must have gone in a previous clear out.
More puzzling were 4 other pages which I was going to tape up before reattaching in an old medical book as they were quite badly damaged. I went to the bookshelf and found the corresponding book, but the book was not damaged at all and as I checked where the missing pages would go, they were not missing at all! So, at some point I must have replaced the original book. But the loose pages have been in various places for ages, waiting for me to deal with them, sometimes in prominent places...and not once did I realise the original book was no longer there
Three letters I need to write are waiting in my to do box. All envelopes written and stamped. I just need to write them.
1 pair of slippers out. My feet have been aching lately. I don't think my slippers have helped, so out they went.
I've not done a count yet. Will do that tomorrow. Not Rachmaninov
But Nyman

Good evening. Being half term - more decluttering is being done.Spent yesterday hoovering skirting boards, edges of rooms. Edges of ceilings and under furniture.Today, Uu eggs and made one fruit cake and 24 fruit scones. That should keep hubby going for a while. Scone given to neighbour. Two eaten rest frozen. Also, used last of leeks that I have dug up from garden - only a couple of really thin leeks left in the raised beds.

Decluttered patience. Kicked the coffee table with no slippers on. Just as it's warm enough to get outside and get some jobs done I have a big throbbing black toe! Covid blues is very apt. I am proper fed up and out of sorts. we do have appointments for our Covid jabs though. Nothing much achieved today.Started the renovation of the big brown chair before I broke my toe!

Evening MrsSD and fellow declutterers, just to say thank you MrsSD for my gold star and for continuing to cheer us all along. Will catch up with our daughter this weekend to present her with her medal. Looking through today's posts and the post from @-taff sums it up for me. Find a way of decluttering that works best for you and also it's about making sure that the stuff you want to declutter leaves your home. When I was working through the attic, I realised that it didn't make sense to continue to walk past the stuff that I was going to throw away (eventually). I realised that I needed to get on and get shut of it as soon as possible. Easier said than done I know, but to declutter properly for me meant that I mentally had to be ready to get rid of the clutter. And that's not an easy thing to do either. We are all doing our bit for the decluttering cause and that's the main thing. Sorry I had to get all that off my chest. Advance notice...will be recycling a Wii balance board this weekend, it's picked up a fault, so just bought a replacement one in an eBay auction. So it's our daughters bedroom this weekend for the next episode of my decluttering journey, cheers 🙂10

- taff I haven't heard of Dana White, I use Marie Konda for folding in drawers , esp things I dont wear often or don't fit as you get lots more in. Like Andrew Mellon as it;s often the stories we tell ourselves that keep us holding on to things. I take what I like from each of these.
4 hours taking stuff to new flat for DD1 - and working before then, but got couple of emails off re my dad so 2 371 - 373 going down to help him and sort out carers -he can't hear on the phone so has to be done in person (lip reads to help)
DD2 was going through my CDs ( don't play music much which I think is quite sad) so decided if I neither of us like the CD will give away and I'll get a good speaker to play music, with bluetooth so can link phone.
For me it's alot about trying to use and enjoy what I have - not keeping things for best, or not having fun.
374 toiletries used up.

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)
Monday was a dry, warm day 🙂 even had some sunshine so the solar light tried to light up 😉 My sum total of activity today was cooking (I use the term loosely) dinner - ham, fried eggs, baked beans & oven chips 🤤 DH even did the washing up although I dried up & put away 😉
A rather annoying day - the claims assessor turned up re the fallen down back wall, he spent ages writing up his report & then denied our claim 👿 I was spitting feathers - 22 years of paying insurance premiums for this house, no claims & the first time we try to claim we are turned down 😤😤 Thieves is the kindest thing I can say 😤 Anyway, my DH was more sanguine about the whole thing & started investigating re hiring a builder etc. - told you he was laid back 😉 The silver lining is that we can afford to pay for it ourselves 🙂 but it is the principle 👿😤 & breathe & let it go - now that I have vented 🙂😔

Great work GrannyKate 👏 shame about the picture frame ☹️ You are continuing to do great work GrannyKate 👏 A few years ago I used to enter lots of postal competitions each month (used to subscribe to a comping magazine) - best prize was a week in Atlanta for the Olympics 1996 & oddest prize was a plastic blow up banana 😅
Excellent start to your decluttering journey lindsay54v3 👏 What you count is an individual choice - whatever works for you & encourages you to keep decluttering 🙂

Good work TC77 👏 I will have to join you in admitting I don’t play much music (and you are right, it is sad ☹️) I probably have a couple of hundred CDs so I think I need to bite the bullet & donate to CS when they reopen 😔MrsSD 🏅🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 366/2021Savings Pot:Be Kind. Aw Mrs SD feel your pain!
Yes id be seething too and like yours my DH would be onto to plan B to sort it out.
Happened to us too.
We had the finial ( cross on roof of house) fall off in a mini tornado the weather was confirmed by a local weather station as it was a freak weather condition for june . It fell and hit our front window and smashed the sill landed in the garden. It was a brand new build house. Assesor would pay for a new finial and damage to the roof but not the window it hit.🤔 which was the bigger part of claim.
Honestly not making it up.
No frills policy from then on.

Mrs SD , I got the wrestler too with dana white. I have CDs and prob over 100 vinyl and recorder player but no amp or speakers. I had claim refused , complained got it overturned and asked to use insurance contractors , who were hell, destroyed my floor, dropped piano on slate hearth etc and took over 2 years to sort so being sanguine and sorting yourself I think is v sensible! I had to go to ombudsman and many lost nights sleep. Changed insurers.8
