Morning all! Gosh you're all being so productive. I had every intention of doing things this weekend, but the sofa called it's siren song and I pretty much stayed there the entire time 😏 We did get an addition to the house though - my parents sent us a whole bunch of seed potatoes and massive containers to grow them in. Only place to store them at the moment is in the corner of the living room so will just have to put up with the huge box until it's time to plant 😂
Plan of action today, after the paid stuff and some exercise is
- 1 load of the never ending laundry pile
- Swap out towels and wash the old ones
- Vacuum the sofa cushions
- Call the water company
- Call Virgin Media
Think that's all I can really manage today - feeling rather tired and trying to be kind to myself. Hope you're all staying safe and warm!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201710 -
Thanks Mrs SD. I've added medal to my signature. Fridge freezer definitely working now so can use again. Making chicken soup with left over carcases from yesterday. I cooked what I thought were 2 small chickens but one would have been enough so I have cold chicken to use up. Just a few to add to declutter list;
314 Cardboard box
315 Picture frame which fell off wall and broke
316-317 E mails answered
318 All photos downloaded and saved in named folders
I may get dressed now and think about what I might clean today. Best wishes and hugs to anyone who needs one.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Thanks Mrs SD!
Today I plan to start off decluttering all the cans in the bedroom, my OH seems to like collecting the emptiesThen take the laundry downstairs, and re-organise my trousers, the drawer is getting a bit chaotic atm
And finally started using the makeup samples I've received since the start of the year, decanted all the ones in sachets into sealed pots so I can get more than one use! Usually I forget about them but I have a designated clear lock box (that came as part of an Xmas gift) that I have repurposed to hold them all, also a nice way to see the little freebies I've received!
Being new I'm still a bit unsure what can count as decluttering, I have an entire craft drawer that I still have plenty of things to make, when I actually use up the materials to make something would this count towards my total? Or do we just count by what we decide is decluttering for ourselves?SPC #072 ~ £8.37 ----- FEB NSD ~ 10/10 ----- Declutter2021 ~ 4/10010 -
@BarbCh thank you so much for your wonderful insight! When I think about it for me it's any build up of anything that needs to be tidied up (such as those annoying little cans) and using things up mostly! The stash of makeup, crafts and Skincare I have are useful but I always buy more before I really need to, so I think that's my biggest goal of this challenge, get things used up at last!SPC #072 ~ £8.37 ----- FEB NSD ~ 10/10 ----- Declutter2021 ~ 4/1008

linsay54v3 Different people count in different ways. Whatever is meaningful for the individual. For me it's substantial items out. Either in size or effort. Things like phone calls that have been put off or jobs that have needed doing forever. I also count clothes, my particular hoardy nemesis. I sometimes count craft stash used, sometimes not, don't know why. There is a use up craft stash board in the craft section of the forum.
Gin,I do like it but rarely drink. I have at least 6 unopened bottles of every flavour and hue! I think the last alcoholic drink I had was on my Birthday last March. Ah last Birthday spent in an hotel in Edinburgh and Theatre trip included. Those were the days...

@vulpix thank you so much! Being new I think I'm just a little bit nervous about how people define things, but you're all so kind and welcoming so feeling much more confidentSPC #072 ~ £8.37 ----- FEB NSD ~ 10/10 ----- Declutter2021 ~ 4/1009

I kind of agree that what's in your head can sometimes be reflected by what's in your house but I don't think that examining your innermost feelings, unless you're a complete hoarder, is going to help you declutter that much. Find a method that works for you, whether that's one that's already been made accessible, for example Marie Kondo, or Dana White [ I will sing her praises to anyone, because I bought the book and decluttered tens of kilos of clothes, broken things, things I was saving for Justin etc after I read it because it changed the way I thought about the stuff in my house] or your own method. Decluttering is about getting rid of things, not moving things around and one persons too much stuff is just right for anyone else. I would be quite happy with the amount of book in one of those pictures and not think that was excessive at all as long as I had the space to put them in.If you have too much stuff for your space it's too much, so whittle it down to things that you absolutely will not part with and get rid fo the stuff you feel so so about whether that's clothes, books, kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff etc.I think a fear of the unknown, what with Covid and everything may have triggered an accumulation of stuff because none of us know the future and what may be or may not be necessary.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10
