It's been a month since I was asked for my details by SP, just e-mailed them to explain the delay, if I don't hear back within 48 hours I will be complaining to Ofgem. I'm sure this is just a ploy to keep YE ex customers on there higher tariff as long as possible, as soon as the switch is made I will be switching via the MSE site ASAP.
I just got off the phone to SP, nice enough chap but quite obvious they have no idea what's going on. I managed to obtain my account number with them and details of the "Energy Exclusive" tariff they've put me on but that's all the information he could give me other than "keep an eye our for your welcome letter/email"

I've used my account number to create an online account with them but my credit with YE has yet to be transferred across and no payment has been taken this month from either provider - usually happens on 2nd. To be safe I've cancelled all direct debits until they get in touch with me and will switch providers as earliest/safest opportunity possible. If the tariff they have put me on turns out to be significantly more expensive whilst they drag out this process I will be complaining to OFGEM for sure!

Well you've probably just made it more expensive than it needed to be by cancelling your direct debit!

I had the email from SP asking for details, which i supplied. When i queried a couple of weeks later why i hadn't heard from them with a confirmation - or anything else - they simply sent me another request for my details. So i rang and they were unhelpful and equivocal. Since then, nothing.
I've had many suppliers over the last 15-20 years and the only one i had to refer to the Ombudsman (to get the money they owed me after i switched from them) was Scottish Power. I vowed never to use them again... and here i am.
As you say, the longer they drag this out, the longer they can keep us on their (presumably) extortionate tariff. Previous experience suggests that the threat, at least, of Ofgem/Ombudsman might be needed. Do please post if you do contact them. Or perhaps others already have?

There has been extensive discussion over in the Yorkshire Energy thread about when a switch can be started. In short, most people should be able to get away before the end of the month and should be thinking about setting things in motion soon.

Thanks. This is the second thread i managed to find - it seems there is a third - the "Yorkshire Energy thread" - but my search didn't turn that up. If fact it took 2-3 searches to find the first thread, which is how i found this one!
However, I'm very nervous about 'setting things in motion' for a switch before i get confirmation from SP. Sounds a recipe for disaster, if it's even possible.

The relevant threads are understandably quite active and so have stayed near the top of the forum index. This site's search facility leaves a lot to be desired!

It could be some time before SP confirm you can switch. Meanwhile the first person has reported their electricity switch from SP to Green Energy Supply has been completed.

Thanks again. I'd really like to get some more details. Could you possibly link to the Yorkshire Energy thread that has all this information? I'm blowed if i can find it.
Edit - never mind - i found it!

Here is the main one (currently one of the first threads in the forum index): https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6220161/yorkshire-energy/
Be warned there has been 6 pages of discussion today alone.

Very disappointed with how this has been handled. Scottish Power have put me on a Tarif called Energy Exclusive which you cannot select this Tariff on the Cheap Energy Club to do a comparison, it is not visible and I cannot find what tariff is closest to it so when I am doing a comparison I cannot get a fair one as my Tarif still says Yorkshire Energy tariff that I was on.

I contacted SP and they told me this:

Your current tariff details are -

    Tariff Name - Energy Exclusive

Primary unit rate - 14.747 pence per KWh
Daily standing charge - 22.740 pence per Day
    Gas:
Primary unit rate - 2.547 pence per KWh
Daily standing charge - 22.220 pence per Day

With YE I was on the Green Ribblehead - Fixed until 31st August 2021 tariff.

    Gas:
    Unit rate 2.437p per kWh
    Standing charge 8.839p per day

    Elec:
    Unit rate 12.854p per kWh
    Standing charge 22.788p per day
