Congratulations on starting your new role, it should get easier over time.

I've read some mortgage free diaries where they OP the equivalent interest, it seems to work for them. Totally agree with having the security of owing less on the mortgage, or even clearing it. Having 'free' accommodation reduces stress levels and pressure of staying in a role paying enough to cover that and everything else.

I have just finished reading d1v1dend investing for beginners which is a bit heavy in places but might be worth a read. The other thing you might find interesting is the frugal cottage on you t3be. The woman is trying to build a monthly income through dividend income.  Some funds pay a kickback/dividend) for holding an investment others are more focused on capital growth.

Lots of people have that opinion in regards to safety of money as in the stock market prices go up and down... Its a long term thing. In comparison people should be aware of the reduction of money in real terms due to inflation when it's held in an account. That is not to say that you shouldn't have accessable funds... The first thing any adviser will tell you is get an EF.

I will have a look at free share offers I have and message you x

It's go go go here as with everyone else. We have had one nativity today which was extremely cute. We are going to get our tree after the school run today. I do love a real tree (I know an artificial one would be more money saving) and have had one since we have had the children. I have however this year thought in advance and budgeted for it, have some vouchers from TCB that I get when they do an offer and got a 20% off voucher.

I don't feel that great so currently cuddled under my cosy blanket and hoping I will be able to have an early night as I am working tomorrow. I can't wait to finish work for Christmas.

I think Christmas shopping is done and I have a feeling I have some cards somewhere so need to locate those. I have done quite a bit of wrapping but do have some more to do which I will hopefully get sorted today.

    14 days til payday.

Forgot to say my target for the 3 yr mortgage thread was to be at 130k by Jan 2022, I think if I push it I may be able to do this if I don't include the big fees we had to pay for remortgage.

Time to start thinking about what we want to achieve next year money wise.

It's the smell of a real tree which makes Christmas feel like Christmas.

Hopefully we'll start to get back to normal at some point and be able to properly recharge.

That's a huge potential payment, dig round the sofa, bags, coats and find everything you can!

  • Hope you feel better soon.
Even if OH splits it, so you both get half, it's a step in the right direction.
