How do you receive your final YE bill? Is it on your YE account, email, actual paper bill?

Think mine must be on the US Mars space rover!
The YE administrators fees should be subject to a penalty charge for their ineptitude...customers bills still not sorted from 6 December despite receiving mine together with, I suspect, many other closing meter readings shortly thereafter.  Then again, who are they accountable to I wonder? OFGEM aren't interested!

The first sign of the meter readings collected by SP over at YE was 27th December - 3 weeks after SP started collecting them from customers. It was later established that these had not been validated, so they then needed to go through that process, which we now know can take up to 6 weeks. So the delay in YE starting to issue final bills is excusable and down to SP incompetence. However, the delay in YE completing that process is not, everyone ought to have their final bills by now.
On the matter of administrator penalties and accountability, you will probably already be aware as a former professional of this sector that administrators are afforded a great deal of lattitude in law, and they are not accountable to Ofgem, but rather the High Court, the Insolvency Service, and any professional bodies (e.g. ICAEW) they are members of. I have my doubts any action or inaction of the administrators has been contrary to their statutory or regulatory obligations.
  • If YE are waiting for SP to forward the opening reads, what about people whose reads were lost by SP? They lost my gas reading, so I suppose I'll be waiting for them to find it before YE can deal with my refund? I've given it to SP again, but no sign of them using it and I can't see anything because they only tell you your last reading, not the history.

For me, my electric reading was fine. I rang them to tell them the gas reading on 5/12 but they couldn't process it for some reason. So what they did was come up with an estimate (in their favour of course - within industry guidelines). The generated bill was wrong. As others have noted you can't see reading history.
I've since rang them and the lady there was helpful and appeared to know what to do to correct the gas reading. I'll give them 10-12 days to rebill me and if it's still not fixed I'll raise a complaint.
Leaving SP on the 8/3. Of course the next issue will be the exit readings and also a little matter of £506 credit.

If it helps, my opening Gas reading never showed on my account.  But it did get passed to YE, and then SP did manage to find it to generate my final bill correctly.  My suspicion is they have them somewhere in a database from the data capture forms in early December.  But for some reason a lot of them never made it to showing on the accounts.  But they dug mine out from somewhere!
  • Just for information - I have just had my Yorkshire Energy credit balance applied to my Scottish power account directly.

What is going on with the validation of opening meter reads?  The industry system for getting submitted reads validated and then these sent back to the old and new suppliers appears either broken or stuck in thick glue!
There is definitely something strange going on. I am on day 34 since I provided opening reads to my new supplier, and waiting on my first bill, which they should have produced before now. I'm starting to wonder if this is due to those opening reads still not having been validated.
I wonder whether delays or not, have anything to do with the region you are in? Whilst the Gas database is national and from several posts in this thread there do seems to be some delays, for electricity it'll depend on your Regional Distributor - mine is Western Power Distribution, and I don't appear to have suffered any of the delay issues seen by some others.
Mine is WPD too, so doesn't appear to be distributor related. It may depend on your new supplier and their policy towards unvalidated opening/final reads. SP clearly is happy to use them for billing, whereas my new supplier, Octopus, is a stickler for following the correct process and suspending billing/forwarding to the old supplier until they are validated. Perhaps some readings can be validated electronically, whereas others deviate too far from estimates that they need manual intervention. With us being in the middle of a pandemic, and having gone through a particularly cold spell of weather, usage for many more people will be atypical.
Oh well, it was just a thought. I'll see if I can confirm if my opening reading with my new supplier has been validated or not. I gave the same reading to SP when they asked in an email. I'm going to guess it hasn't as I've just spotted a glitch. My new supplier has got two readings showing on my account with the dates the wrong way round. I gave SP a reading on the 25th (interim bill produced) and another on the 1st Feb. (for the 28th) final bill was then produced. I can only guess that the 25th reading was passed on by SP and my new supplier have got the two the wrong way round!! So there'll be a few words on Monday.
  • SP have replied to my email, they've added my opening reading and produced a bill. Obviously it will be weeks before I will be able to see it 😊 still, I'm glad gas got sorted before my electricity gets switched.
  • Well SP have collected my DD today but no news on the YE credit refund I had my final bill from YE last week now the wait for my money
I would expect SP to deal with this urgently as in these unprecedented times people cannot afford to wait for ever for their refunds
So long drawn out this SoLR process really need the toothless OFGEM to make this a much faster process, right now it's too much in favour of the energy companies

Same here although I got my bill from YE on 4th February
