  • Received my final Bill from YE today. Everything looks okay.

Also received final Bill from SP and that looks okay as well, my last payment goes out from SP on the 1st March so not sure to cancel my DD after that, but would still be waiting for around £250 from YE.
I keep reading that SP will send cheques, but that sounds a bit old fashioned to me and a bit unnecessary in these times. Would SP send the refund by DD electronic bank refund?

Does anyone have the telephone number for the yorkshire energy administrators? I found a number of 0121 695 5503 on the OFGEM website but no one answers. Having trouble trying to search this forum.
Just trying to chase up the £506 in credit. Lesson learned never build up much credit.

    Thanks for your help.
Rather than trying the Administrators, you'll probably find it more fruitful (and quicker) to contact the retained YE team. either by email or phone as detailed on the Support page help@ye.co.uk or 0113-451-0700. (Email to the Administrators gets sent straight to the YE team, they possibly don't work weekends). If you use email to the YE team and want an answer to a specific question, you'll first get an auto-response with a number of suggestions (which may/may not help), just reply to that and say those responses didn't answer your question. You should then get a reply to your email. When I did it recently (beginning of the week), I had a reply within 15 minutes - very efficient!

What is going on with the validation of opening meter reads?  The industry system for getting submitted reads validated and then these sent back to the old and new suppliers appears either broken or stuck in thick glue!
There is definitely something strange going on. I am on day 34 since I provided opening reads to my new supplier, and waiting on my first bill, which they should have produced before now. I'm starting to wonder if this is due to those opening reads still not having been validated.
I wonder whether delays or not, have anything to do with the region you are in? Whilst the Gas database is national and from several posts in this thread there do seems to be some delays, for electricity it'll depend on your Regional Distributor - mine is Western Power Distribution, and I don't appear to have suffered any of the delay issues seen by some others.
  • Just some info and an update from me. My timeline is also very similar to some others recently posted here eg. @bagand96 and @Tharweb. Switch started on the 8th Jan. once I knew SP were showing as my supplier on the Regional database, started with new supplier (Neon Reef) on the 29th Jan. The day before SP had sent an email to say my online account was "ready" - I'd been using it for almost 3 weeks (as detailed in some of my previous posts in this thread!).
I've phoned SP 4 times since the SoLR started. First was on the dedicated YE helpline sometime just after new year, where I got a most unhelpful female that basically gave me no helpful information, couldn't even be bothered to ask for my details!. 2nd time was to the main general helpline on the 9th Jan. got a helpful chap who gave me my account number when I asked. A 3rd call to SP on the YE helpline, again got a very helpful chap who gave the information requested - amongst which he couldn't see the opening meter reading either!

As a result of my YE inquiry on the 1st Feb. they told me what my final bill would be, opening meter reading as provided to SP for the closing reading (correct), so at least SP had passed that correctly to YE! also how YE were doing final bills in batches.
5th Feb. YE email saying Final bill was ready.
SP account open & closed and open & closed depending on state of transfer, and final billing as detailed in previous posts.
4th Call to the YE helpline (on the 15th) where I again got a very helpful chap who told me YE credit was normally taking 2 weeks after YE final bill  to get added to SP account. SP final bill taken by DD on 16th. YE credit appeared in My account on the 19th (the 2 weeks as advised!). As I haven't cancelled any DD, it says it'll be paid to the bank account -

So, it remains to see how long it sits there before being paid into the bank account!
It seems I've been quite lucky (so far) compared to some of the horror stories posted here, as things seem to have progressed relatively smoothly even though they've taken just over 2 months in total.

Mine is WPD too, so doesn't appear to be distributor related. It may depend on your new supplier and their policy towards unvalidated opening/final reads. SP clearly is happy to use them for billing, whereas my new supplier, Octopus, is a stickler for following the correct process and suspending billing/forwarding to the old supplier until they are validated. Perhaps some readings can be validated electronically, whereas others deviate too far from estimates that they need manual intervention. With us being in the middle of a pandemic, and having gone through a particularly cold spell of weather, usage for many more people will be atypical.

Hi All, I rang the switchboard number above. 0121 632 6000, they won't pass you on to speak to anyone. An email that I was given was yorkshireenergyadministration@deloitte.co.uk so I've fired off an email to them. I may get a reply, who knows?
11 weeks tomorrow, Saturday 20/02/21, since YE receivership and still no final YE bill or £500 credit. No doubt SP will want to be paid when I leave them next month even if my account hasn't been credited.

Let us know if your switch goes through.
I think SP has blocked one for me (should have happened 2nd Feb to Neo), and I think it could be the debt building up since I also was waiting for over £500 credit from YE to pay off the SP bill. I'm not sure of that because I haven't been able to speak to anyone at Neo.
[They've been a disaster for me - switch hadn't happened and they were still charging me, never got any of the calls back they promised, so eventually I told them they "looked" like scammers and stopped the switch - their response was to blame me for initiating several switches at once, which can only have been SP messing about IMO].

How do you receive your final YE bill? Is it on your YE account, email, actual paper bill?

Got an email from YE to say Your Final bill is ready to view and it is then on your YE account.

I've just received a letter from SP to confirm my credit with YE and to say that a cheque will be forthcoming in the next 2-3 weeks.
