Had an email from SP this morning welcoming me to SP
Just so you know we’ve set up your ScottishPower online account and it’s now ready for you to access. You can log in at: www.scottishpower.co.uk/login using your email address.
Even sent me a temporary password, I have been able to access my SP account for weeks and my switch completed on the 26th Jan
Still waiting for my YE final bill and credit0 -

Shutting everyone off isn't practical.bagand96 said:
This is to ensure continuous supply of utilities. The alternative is that without a supplier the Electricity and Gas transporters disconnect those supplies.
They appoint the SoLR because otherwise there would be a shortfall in the amount of gas and electricity being purchased to go into the system. Energy companies usually speculate by purchasing options ahead of time, rather than buying it at the more expensive current price.
If you could arrange a switch on the day the energy company announces it's closing and have it switch before the official closure then you could avoid all this. But if you missed the news they would still need to dump you on someone & if they know you're just going to switch away again then there is little incentive for anyone to volunteer.

What do you mean "in theory". It would definitely happen.bagand96 said:
I suppose SP want a closing balance from YE, because in theory the savvy customers may lie!
No sign of a YE bill yet for me, but the online system has been updated to show the final direct debit reversal.
Still no electricity bill from SP though, only gas & only from an estimated reading.
Off topic, Neo phoned me back. I've lost track of how many weeks it took them after I went on their site to request a quote.

Received email from SP saying final bill ready after leaving on 21 Jan. Checked details and meter readings are correct and tariff as expected. I was only with YE for electricity. So for me no problems, just waiting for small credit from YE. I waited until the database showed a change from YE to SP before switching to Neon Reef. I think this is the third SOLR situation that I have been through in the last few years and expect it wont be the last. I followed the guidance in this thread before deciding when to switch from SP.0

Has it not put you off moving to another smaller supplier? I've chosen Octopus as they seem likely to last the courselocky123 said:Received email from SP saying final bill ready after leaving on 21 Jan. Which supplier have you guys gone to after YE and Scottish Power ?

Same thing happened to me, but in my case I ended up more in credit. As they've credited back the value of the 6th December bill I assume they'll need to bill me again from 6/11/20 - 6/12/20, which I will be my final bill.jeff_flambino said:0 -
My electricity switch from Scottish Power happened on 6 January. Gas moved a week Iater. I switched to Green.energy. I didn't have a great experience with them so have initiated a further switch to Zog for gas and Neon Reef for electricity. This switch will complete 26/27 February.venomx said:Which supplier have you guys gone to after YE and Scottish Power ?0 -
I've gone to neon reef for electricity, it's still underway. Scottish power still haven't set up my gas, is anyone else in the same boat? They are my supplier on the database but have not put my opening reading in.0
