goatfaced said:I've switched electricity to neon reef today. Gas is still with SP for the moment. Neon set my direct debit based on number of bedrooms so it's wrong, but I'll just put the extra money aside for when it's asked for.
@goatfaced ...probably not a bad position to be in potentially underpaying anyway in case they also go t*ts up...better to be owing than to be owed
As an aside I see the Symbio tariffs have now increased and are now above NR rates.2 -
These are the terms and conditions for the 'special' version of the energy exclusive tariff, that only former YE customers were transferred to by the solr. File name is : "FIXED_OL_E23B_TERMS.pdf" . It can be searched for on the web to download it, if you havent got it already.1. Supplies of mains gas and/or electricity from ScottishPower under all versions of the Energy Exclusive tariff (‘Tariff’) will be available until the date when the Tariff is withdrawn by us. All applicants must be aged 16 years or over and must contract to pay, and continue to pay, for the energy supply under the Tariff by monthly Direct Debit, quarterly Direct Debit, Monthly Bill, online Debit Card, quarterly by Cash, Cheque or Postal Order.2. This Tariff is only available to former Yorkshire Energy customers who transferred to ScottishPower as part of the supplier of last resort process.3. The prices you pay as a Tariff customer will replace any mains gas and/or electricity prices which you may currently pay. These prices can be reviewed in the “Your tariff information” section of your tariff confirmation letter and on our website, under Tariff Information Label.4. This is a variable tariff and prices may increase or decrease in the future; we’ll give you 30 days’ notice if our prices are increasing.5. The obligations on ScottishPower under the Tariff and these terms and conditions will not come into effect until we have been registered as the supplier of mains gas and/or electricity to the property.6. If you leave the property to which this Tariff applies, you will not be able to transfer this current Tariff to another property. However, you will be entitled to apply for any ScottishPower tariff, for which you meet the eligibility criteria, that is available when you move property.7. Any quote given to you for the Tariff is based on the information provided to us.8. If you fail to make a payment to ScottishPower under your payment method when it is due, we shall be entitled to transfer you to an appropriate cash payment method on our Standard tariff. To see how this could affect you, please visit www.scottishpower.co.uk and review our current Standard Domestic Prices in the Gas and Electricity Tariffs section. We will notify you of any changes to your payment method and prices should this be necessary.9. These terms and conditions are in addition to the ScottishPower Gas and Electricity General Terms and Conditions for Domestic Customers, which can be accessed at www.scottishpower.co.uk/legal/terms-and-conditions/.1

As we don't have access to the full details of SP's bid to become SoLR, we don't know whether or not SP was ever at liberty to increase the prices within the first 6 months, but these deemed tariffs are normally fixed for the first 6 months (but free to exit without penalty), with the prices set based on the cost of energy supply (including purchasing energy at short notice) over the next 6 months factored in to the price. We now pretty much know that in practice the SP deemed tariff will not be subject to any price increase in the first 6 months, because SP has confirmed it will not be affected by the 1st April price increases, any subsequent round of price increases will require at least 30 days notice, and the tariff is due to expire in early May.2

I got the SP email to say my account was now set up. I phoned them to confirm that I could now switch. They said yes. I asked if there was any reason they would block the switch and they said and I quote "your switch will not be blocked for any reason". You know what's coming don't you...Yep, They blocked it. I am utterly disgusted with Scottish Power and the length of time this is taking. The best deals in the whole of market that were available at the end of December/beginning of January are no longer available. Their delay is costing former YE customers a lot of money and a lot of stress.1

Hi All, on my SP online account I too have the message that the 1st April price rises won't affect me. I asked a question about that this morning on the SP chat line and I was told that the tariff will last until 5/12/21. Now, read into that what you will, I don't think they can increase the rates before 5th May but I guess there's nothing to stop SP giving us 30 days notice later.
I probably will move to Avro as their tariff is slightly better for me. Just hassle with the £500 credit that YE owes me.1 -

This will cover the period from appointment until customers have agreed a replacement contract rate with the SoLR or another supplier of their choice, or the six month period of SoLR appointment expires, whichever is earlier."That might explain why it is in effect a "variable" tariff, as it lasts longer than the SoLR period. The rate could therefore be changed at the end of the 6 months (giving 30 days notice during month 5 or later). At that point it is no longer a deemed tariff, but SP can keep the tariff name and operate it like a normal variable tariff.
