Does anyone know how Ofgem themselves are remunerated for handling the SoLR process? Given the number they've had to do in the last 12 monhs, it's been quite a nice little earner for them.I'm presuming that there is an admin fee to the administrators, based on customer head count maybe, plus a bid fee for the contenders? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

To the people who ask why I said I might as well stick with SP ---1), I don't think switching will delay my YE credit repayment. I have no idea if it might. But it might, and anyway, as I am staying with SP for now, it's just as easy to have that credit put on my SP account.2). The only reason I care enough about to switch is financial. But as I said, it's about a 25 quid per year saving at best for me, so I can't be bothered -- AT THE MOMENT. But when I do have a fully set up SP account, then I might well switch.3). Yes I do my own calculations in a spreadsheet. I use my actual usage to do this, and it broadly comes out the same as using the comparison sites.4). Other reasons to switch? It's the same G and E as far I can tell. I haven't ever been disconnected and don't ever expect to be. Even though this YE/SP switch has been a joke, in what way are SP so bad? From my experience of previous suppliers, I haven't really noticed much difference in terms of service, only on price. To me they all much of a muchness. Useless at times and good at other times. As of today, still haven't got a fully functioning SP account. No sign of a working DD on it, although it is set up according to my bank. But hey ho, spring's on the way.

I agree that the deals now available are worse than those available in early December (and even those available in early January) . With my forthcoming switch to Avro, I will be approx £7 pcm worse off (using my usage) than the price I would have paid to YE had they continued. Compared to the SP Exclusive deal my spreadsheet indicates SP would be approx £7-£8 worse off pcm than the Avro 12 month tariff I managed to grab (switch date 3rd Feb). But the deals now available to me (had I not set a switch in motion) are tilting the scales towards SP with, at first glance, only Neo coming in at under £80 for a dual fuel switch (again for the same usage). Octopus appears only £2 pcm cheaper than the Scottish Power YE-Exclusive Online now.
In short I see where you are coming from. I've no doubt that you will keep an eye on what is going on in the remaining months of the exit tariff that SP has you on.
Anyone else having trouble logging into their SP account this morning? EDIT : Now back online it seems EDIT2: And off again .....0 -

I was stuck with Scottish Power during the two most expensive months, so I think it's going to cost me around £20 for the privilege.
Neo 4.1 on citizens advice comes up at the same price as Simple and SuperPremium for me. Trying to double check they could supply me in this area (comparison sites have given me tariffs before that are exclusive to an area) they have a "free quote" on their web site, but when you click it they take your details and say they'll contact you. Hopefully they don't try to take over my energy....

Administrator costs for any company that is wound up comes from the assets of that company.

I had planned to wait a while before switching again, given that there were no real savings to be made by moving elsewhere.
However, I can't put up with Scottish Power's incompetence any longer and so I've put in a transfer request, today, even though it's a very slight increase per annum. I've opted for So Energy who come out very well on customer service.
I'm just hoping this all goes through OK, considering Scottish Power have made a right mess of my transfer from Yorkshire Energy so far.0 -
