Crazy isn't it. I'm in the same boat.
While we're at it, without the opening credit balance YE balance included, how can the SP account be 'fully set up'?
The YE balance isn't part of your account, it's just a credit like your monthly DD.

Here's another one for you.  My elec switch has completed and I already provided SP with a closing meter reading a few days ago.  Today I get an email asking for the same reading again.  So I try to enter it and

  • I had that yesterday but today the link worked but I still  phoned SP and told them the meter readings I had given 5 days earlier were the same as those being used by my new energy supplier. After checking with others I was told to forget the email, they would use the meter readings they already had to finalize my billing.

To my understand, SP should not be asking for a closing read.  It is for your new supplier to collect, the external verification company does its job and comes up wih a finalised closing read, and then passes this onto your new supplier and SP.
  • I’ve had emails suggesting all has gone through but no sign of my elec online.

When I called last week they said there had been problems with the readings, that it needed to go to a back office team and it would be sorted in a few days.

perhaps I misunderstood but I thought if everything was ready I should be able to see both?!
  • Glad to see everyone is escaping, what a palava! Never had the solr route before, trying not to again. Settled on pure planet. If I’d have switched in December there were some cracking deals, now it just seems much of a muchness and all pretty expensive but as Scottish power have told me the grand sum of nothing, I didn’t know they had  fully took over my supply. Happened to check the db and immediately switched. Simplicity was one of my options and i see they have now gone bust as well.

Well, good grief, there's been some updating on my SP account since earlier, in fact, as I couldn't log in just now, which I subsequently managed, it's showing a current balance and a bill 6th Dec-25th January (last meter reading date I gave) and I'm now getting an error on the Bill link which did work initially, so I suspect it is still updating.
Edit: It's now gone midnight and I'm with my new electricity supplier, even on the national database, I've even got a welcoming email from them :) My SP account is the same as earlier except it now says "This account is now closed". It's still showing the same one bill as before, and the "pdf" copy (as earlier) is still pending! Their account software is abysmally clunky, almost the worst I've ever encountered.
As the bill is for virtually all January and most of December, it's more than the monthly DD figure, so we'll see what they take in a few days time.
The final bill is to come, no change on my YE account yet, we'll see what happens next.

with both my pending switches now showing in the SP account, I'm going to have a laugh later and call the number in the banner about can we persuade you to stay with our exclusive tariff.......I'll go through the standing charges and unit rates, banging them into the spreadsheet as they tell me and chuckle at how expensive it is, before asking the last question - does this depend on having a smart meter?  I think the rates will be not-so-exclusive anyway, but the compulsion of a smart meter will be the double-whammy not-on-your-nelly thing..

...and try not to laugh when they ask you why you're not interested :)

...AND still no sign of final bill on YE account :(

I decided to send a message to YE to see what was happening regarding final bills not expecting to hear anything but yes I got a reply

    Good Afternoon,

    You are speaking with Lisa.

We are currently in the process of issuing final bills, you should receive this within the next couple of weeks.

Once your final bill has been issued and settled your remaining credit balance will be transferred to Scottish Power who will refund this back to you.

I hope this finds you well.

    Kind Regards,

    The Yorkshire Energy team

Like most others I think, I got a phone call from SP after I'd signed up with new suppliers - it was about three weeks ago now - trying to persuade me to change my mind, but the guy was so half-hearted about it. He just said 'have you definitely decided to leave?' and I replied that I had and that I had done the research and he basically said 'OK then', and the whole call probably didn't last more than 30 seconds! If I'd been a supervisor monitoring his work I wouldn't have marked him very high, but it was a Saturday lunchtime so maybe the bosses aren't in at the weekend!
