What a joke mine is more expensive than yours. How does that work?
    Elec - 16.115p  and 21.76p per day
    Gas - 2.701p  and 23.33p per day
I was on a very old Yorkshire tariff retention and my electricity was 10p day standing charge.  That's like £3 a month difference.

My standing charge at YE was
    5.982 p/day   Elec
    7.194 p/day  Gas
    Unit Rate was
    13.776 p/kWh Elec
    2.693 p/kWh Gas

You live in the Eastern supply area whereas BedrockFred lives in the East Midlands supply area. Different supply areas, different costs of supply.

So my YE credit balance is over £200 in credit more than enough to cover the SP final bill
My YE billing cycle falls exactly inline with the SoLR date my bill was produced on the 5th and showed my credit balance £214.67p on that date
Would SP be allowed to charge me more on my final bill with that credit owing
SP agreed to take over YE and honour the credit balances. I can pay the DD without problem but think why should I when there is over £200 of credit floating around somewhere, can I charge interest for the amount of time I am unable to get my credit back obviously not
This whole SoLR needs a complete overhaul  the only good thing is credit balances are protected, no doubt SP will be asking OFGEM for help with the credit balances
it was £282 for me....but after calculating what the final YE will be for, it'll still leave me £238 incredit. I've knocked the SP DD down to £20 a month, and from meter readings I took at the weekend recon the SP tariff has cost me £160 so far - partly as it's coincided with the coldest 6 weeks of the year.....by the time they get the accounts sorted out and I've switched, SP may get 1 £20 DD if they're lucky...
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

If SP produce a bill before they acknowledge the credit balance, then yes, they'll try to collect whatever is owed by DD. I'm hoping they delay producing final bills until YE produces theirs and provides SP with details of the credit they owe.

I would do that but there is nowhere on my account to alter DD or even see it, there was till I started a switch and I received an email this week telling the amount of my DD and when it will be collected
So my only option is when my switch completes on the 26th Jan  to cancel the DD that's due on the 7th Feb according to the email I received, seems as soon as I started the switch the DD details on my account disappeared, although it's still on my bank account
  • Hi, Yorkshire Energy closed beginning of Dec and all accounts in the process, very slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwly to Scot Power whose default rate is 25%+ dearer than YE's, really bad news when this is the time of year when we use most of our elec as we have an air source heat pump.
I received an email from SP on Dec 8, replied by return with my details as requested and still waiting for my 'welcome' pack. They advise not switching before the transfer is complete and clearly they are in no hurry as they are making a money out of me made even worse when I read in today's MSE email that tariffs are rising
Bad news all round. I did speak to SP customer service early Jan but a waste of time

It’s more than likely you can start a switch now. Many already have and some are already under their new provider.

Check the National Gas and Electricity databases to see who is listed as your supplier. If it’s already Scottish Power, then you will have no problem starting a switch.

Setting up your online account and processing meter readings and YE bill credits is just admin stuff that won’t stop you switching now. Just keep a record of meter readings, to make sure they are correct when YE and SP get round to producing final bills.

Contacted the YE administrators yesterday and they replied today and have generated my final bill (although incorrect which I did notify YE about before they ceased trading and they are now looking into this)

The person who responded said final bills should start being sent from next week.

Not good news for your mix up but good news final bills should/are being sent out from next week
Someone who knows more than me does this mean once the bills are sent out any credit is automatically applied to the SP account?
