What is annoying me about this is that the DD with SP is set up but they haven' taken any money yet which ultimately means I will owe them a larger sum at some point!
My biggest gripe with that was the lack of a direct debit this month, which means I'll be one short and have to trigger a paypal one on that account...
This month I got 5p less in cashback than I paid for the account! I only pay my water over 8 months so not paying water or fuel means my cashback was actually lower than the account fee.

SP Energy exclusive doesn't show on the MSE energy club comparison site. So how are others comparing who to switch to?

On the MSE comaprison site it if I use the old YE tarrif I was on, Outfox the market comes up as a good option. Does anyone have good/bad experience with out fox the market?
MSE comparison site isn't great and is very slow at updating the tariffs. But you can select "Basic Energy V2" as that SP tariff has the same rates as Energy Exclusive.

Or use Citizens Advice / Which / uSwitch to compare, they do have Energy Exclusive loaded.
  • Yes I realise switching in the small time window was a gambol, although could also affect anyone who may have had put a switch in progress away from Yorkshire immediately before they went bust. I initiated my switch about two days later. This will only be very small number of people, if any I guess. I went straight  from Daisy to the new suppler on the national data-bases without Scottish Power ever showing so far as I know. Electricity updating on 23rd December and Gas on the 25th. Will keep my fingers crossed I'm not in a never ending cycle of Scottish Power trying to take over my energy and my having to contact my new supplier to block the switch. This seems a bit unfair, not so much for me who was trying to be clever, but for someone who my not have been aware Yorkshire had gone bust. OFGEN website advise is  if you have a switch already in progress when a suppler ceases trading, this will complete as normal.

Prices correct at 6th December 2020.

    It also says :

At the end of your tariff

This tariff does not have an end date.

Thought it was a 5 month tariff

So I take it Additional charges are if you have no DD setup, My switch happens on the 26th Jan so I will cancel my DD after the switch is confirmed.

So will I be charged as having no DD setup? Don't think they can can they?

What a joke mine is more expensive than yours. How does that work?
    Elec - 16.115p  and 21.76p per day
    Gas - 2.701p  and 23.33p per day
I was on a very old Yorkshire tariff retention and my electricity was 10p day standing charge.  That's like £3 a month difference.

Are we good to move now?

Most likely a DD needs to be in place at the time a bill is generated in order to benefit from the DD rate on that bill. I don't believe a DD will be taken once SP remove the DD info from the online account due to you switching away. They will probably collect the final balance by DD once the bill is generated and give you notice of that on the bill. If they did take a DD during this time when you have no advanced notice of these payments, you could reclaim under the DD Guarantee.

Customer services told me they will take a DD after I've switched away, my switch date is the 26th and they reckon they'll have requested the payment by then. Whether they do is another matter, your switch date is earlier and may be different.

I'm toying with cancelling the DD if they take it (doing that on the day it goes out should reverse it without having to phone to make an indemnity claim) and then try to setup the DD again so they don't charge me some crap tariff. If they keep claiming it, then I might eventually get bored doing it.

I believe they can't penalize you if you cancel the DD but have enough of a credit built up to cover the final bill, but even if they have the YE credit in place by then I'm not going to be in credit (even if the first DD goes out).

I might see if I can get them to put something in writing about what would happen if I do cancel the DD and wait for the final bill and settle it manually.

    .......................
I contacted SP and told them I was not next of kin and that she was buried by the local authority due to her having no money.  All was well and I heard no more about it until got transferred over to SP and received an online bill (my name, my late friend's addresses) and the supply address of The estate of (my name and address).
When I queried this with SP, they said I had a bill outstanding for £950 - which was the amount my late friend owed when she passed away.
That is why I cancelled the direct debit, as I am worried they will try and claim this money from me.
SP are attempting to sort out his mess, but there is no way I am allowing them access to withdraw from my account whilst this is going on.  If it costs me a few extra quid, in the long run, it is better than the hassle of phoning the bank due to them taking extra money for a bill which does not belong to me.
Oh dear, how very very sad. I quite understand, you have my sincere sympathy. So it was a very wise choice as clearly from the many posts round here you couldn't trust SP to organise the proverbial p-up in a brewery. When they've sorted that out, you may the have to haggle about getting the DD rate (or better, they might offer some compensation ......on the other hand).

So my YE credit balance is over £200 in credit more than enough to cover the SP final bill
My YE billing cycle falls exactly inline with the SoLR date my bill was produced on the 5th and showed my credit balance £214.67p on that date
Would SP be allowed to charge me more on my final bill with that credit owing
SP agreed to take over YE and honour the credit balances. I can pay the DD without problem but think why should I when there is over £200 of credit floating around somewhere, can I charge interest for the amount of time I am unable to get my credit back obviously not
This whole SoLR needs a complete overhaul  the only good thing is credit balances are protected, no doubt SP will be asking OFGEM for help with the credit balances
