I have moved to Green via Citizens Advice site. They had a tariff not show on the MSE site, and a few pounds less than my YE tariff.Richmc said:That's it! had enough waiting around for SP so I've registered with Green Energy, according to MSE it will save me £142 per year compared SP. And if they go tilt I know I don't have to wait for a new supplier to take me on if I don't like their deal.
Thanks for the heads up Ewokuk!0 -
The Scottish Power FAQ page for Yorkshire Energy customers contains a link to a PDF of the tariff for all regions and DD/non-DDTC56_803_9 said:

The new tariff was agreed with Ofgem. Whilst it might not be competitive in view of the whole market, it is one of the most competitive SP tariffs. Unfortunately we have no ongoing right to the contract rates we signed with YE.1 -
Yorkshire Energy went out of business on 6th December. All customers have been switched to Scottish Power’s Energy Exclusive tariff which is significantly more expensive so switch switch switch!!dogshome said:Anyone know why YE has disappeared from the Citizen Advice comparison site, and their website is behaving very oddly?0 -
Yorkshire Energy (old tariff)elec:

Unit rate: 2.478 p/kWhStanding charge: 9.746 p/day------Scottish Power (new tariff)elec:
Unit rate: 15.484p kWh
Standing charge: 23.88p per daygas:
Unit rate: 2.674p kWh
Standing charge: 23.33p per day------Interestingly, they initially keep the direct debit amount the same (presumably to fool people into thinking the tariff is identical) but this will obviously change a few months into it, once meter readings are included.
I can get a better deal with Green Energy, so I will be switching over to them. Even though I have my new tariff with Scottish Power, I don't think the account is fully setup yet (I don't have login details, but I do have an account number). Will I be OK to start switching procedures now, or is it better to wait? I have about £70 from my YE account in credit, so I want to make sure I get that back first before potentially making things even more convoluted later...

With your account number you can now go to the SP website and set up your online account (I don't think they will do that for you).puzl said:I can get a better deal with Green Energy, so I will be switching over to them. You can start a switch now, plenty of people have, and some are already under their new provider. SP can't do anything with YE credit balances until YE have generated final bills. I don't think this has happened for anyone yet. Once the YE final bills are sorted, they have to notify SP of the balances, and then SP have to process them and apply them to accounts. That could all take a significant amount of time.
If you've already switched away from SP when they process YE credits, they have said they will pay it by cheque. That may make things slightly more convoluted, and may need chasing depending on how long you're prepared to wait.1 -
You can start switch proceedings now if you wish. Many of us on this thread have indeed done so. Re getting the £70 back, you might be waiting longer than you think before it winds its way back to you and I don't think staying with SP will make that process any the faster. No idea on timeframe for this. YE yet to finailize accounts via their administrators which could take days/weeks or even months!puzl said:I can get a better deal with Green Energy, so I will be switching over to them. My electricity switch to Green is due to happen in 2 days time - to their Cedar tariff (14.577p per unit). But I just rechecked the Citizens Advice comparison site and found the Holly tariff which Green are now offering at 13.397p per unit. Rang Green and they are now switching me to Holly. Good result, thanks for the heads up, guys.

I had the Tariff Information email from SP this morning. In it, it says "If you fail to make a payment when it's due, we can make changes to your payment method and/or tariff, which may result in an increase in your prices".The email also tells me that my first DD will be on 7/2. BUT I will be switching away from SP on 27/1.Does anyone know if I will be OK to cancel my DD to SP as soon as I have switched away (so they won't get a first payment) or could that allow them to put me on a more expensive tariff for the enforced time with them?0
