SP seem to be giving diferent answers to eveyone who calls them.
2 weeks ago, I called them to ask what was happening. They said 7 to 10 days, because YE hadn't given them my meter deatils. Now, 2 weeks later, I called them again, and was told my Account number, and it was now live, and that I should have already had an email. I registered and logged in, only to find NO GAS METER reading. But they have BOTH my E and G meter numbers.
So I just rang again, and have just been told I can't give my gas reading, as this has to come from YE. I said, you already have my gas reading, because you asked for it on the 6th December, and the proof is, that you have my E reading listed on my account. She just repeated my gas details haven't been given to them by YE, and that anyway it takes 6 weeks to set up a new account when an energy provided goes bust. Then she said NOBODY from YE had a completed account, because it takes 6 weeks, they are still waiting for YE to give them full details, and all I can do is wait.
She said she was on the DD team, and that the DD team is the sole team dedicated to setting it all up. She said she couldn't put me through to the meter reading team, because my gas details haven't been provided by YE, this despite the fact that SP have my Gas meter number, which 2 weeks ago I was told had to come from YE. Would YE not have given them my Gas reading at the same time, if it had to come from them?
I can't help thinking she was lying to me. But I suppose all I can do is wait for the email that she said will be sent this week. I can't wait to switch away from SP.

After all the rubbish I had with transposed meter readings on my E7 meters I initiated a move away to Outfox last week. I took meter readings on that day (12th) and put them in. They already showed correct electric readings from sorting out the mess they'd made, but the gas was 0000 with the 1902 date as most others have had. I put new electric readings in, and forced a gas reading in despite getting an error message about it being high.  I had previously supplied identical readings at 6th December to both YE and SP.

Today I'm showing as Switching with a completion date of 1st February, plus the message about ringing them for a new tarriff. It also said it wanted meter readings, so I've put new in again today. This has created a bill for 6th December to date. I cannot see the detail of the bill as it is showing as producing a pdf, but the amounts would appear to be in the region of what I would expect. I have never been able to see the opening gas reading though, so will check when the pdf appears.

Those withholding meter readings might want to rethink their tactics if you want to stop them delaying your move out the door down to lack of readings.

Ossie, can I ask was the switch to SP complete before you applied to switch to Octopus?

I rang Scottish power and asked to make a formal complaint about the lack of communication and time this is taking. They rang back today and apologised and said I should have had my welcome pack by now, with my payment plan etc. They offered me a goodwill gesture of £60, no catches, which I was happy to accept. She also confirmed that I was free at this point to change tariff or switch supplier if I chose.
I would accept that but no way would I change tariff, as you lose the no exit fee option.
I agree completely, I've taken the £60, won't change to another Scottish Power tarriff, will now start to look around for a switch. If I can't find anything much cheaper, will probably go for a holding deal on a no-exit fee deal somewhere, and wait to see what comes along.

That's obviously total bull as it's the opening reading you give the new supplier that gives the closing reading to the old supplier (I don't see that SoLR makes any difference).

Was this including gas? And if so was your reading showing as 30 Nov 1902? Thanks

Q1. Ossie, can I ask was the switch to SP complete before you applied to switch to Octopus?
A1. Yes, I was watching 1st Jan when SP switch over. I applied same day to Octopus.

Q2. Was this including gas? And if so was your reading showing as 30 Nov 1902? Thanks
A2. Yes it includes Gas, and the 30th Nov 1902 year too.

Thanks. That is really helpful to know. It means that it's likely most switches will go ahead despite Scottish power's messing around with the gas readings. I know a few accounts that have been showing as Scottish power on the national database for a while now (I checked) and assume if that's the case then they have to allow a switch to another supplier within the appropriate timeframe.

When I spoke to someone today they said that they are setting up the accounts in 'layers' and that we will get an email in a week or two once done. I'm taking this to mean they don't trust the readings we gave them and they want it from Yorkshire energy before they will put it on the account.

Agreed.  And this response from SP does not fit in with what I saw on my YE account in the early date of the SOLR process.  The last reads I was able to submit to YE direct was on the 6th December.  The figures I submited to SP (in response to the email I received on 7th December) was given to SP via their link in the email 2 days later on 9th December.  These same figures (the closing/opening reads) appeared for a day or so on the YE site with a date of December 5th!  So YE have my final reads and SP have my opening reads or at least had them because YE were never told the numbers that I gave to SP on the 9th December (we were unable to enter meter reads by the 9th anyway I think! )
