  • My account shows :
Electric - the last actual read 5 October 2020 (that's correctly stated), but I've been billed with a further estimated since that date.
Gas - last actual reading 30 November 1902!!!!!!!!! My gas bill will be frightening.

Re the variable rate,  I believe I am on the Energy Exclusive Online tarrif (which is a fixed tariff for only 6 months I am led to believe) although I have had no confirmation of this via a welcome pack.
So you're another poster who didn't read the FAQs linked to by the email they were sent by ScottishPower:
"If you’re a domestic customer, you’ll move to our Energy Exclusive tariff - this is a tariff created specifically for former customers of Yorkshire Energy and provides some of our most competitive prices."
    https://www.scottishpower.co.uk/solr/yorkshire-energy
When I say 'I believe' does not imply absolute truth although the very link that you gave me does make this almost certainly true.  When I say 'I am led to believe' this again does not imply the absolute truth.  If I see the document where I got it from I will give you the link.  When I say 'I have had not confirmation of this via a welcome pack',  I can say with absolute certainty that this is indeed the truth.  Please don't imply that I didn't read the FAQ.   Let us just leave it at that because I did OK?   And just to be totally fair let us leave it that my belief that the Online Exclusive tariff being a 6 month fixed tariff is no doubt yet another ill-informed belief probably created by other ill-informed posts on this forum.

"And which Energy company would bid to take on the customers from the failed provider if they had to provide the energy at unsustainable rates?"
Which is a fair comment, but it also needs saying the same energy companies are not shy in asking Ofgem for a payment to cover SoLR customers credit balances
The whole SoLR scheme really does need a complete overhaul ATM it takes too long and the only people that suffer are the people its supposed to protect

On my SP account it states my D/D is £8.50 and recommends to change it to £58 lol
My SP account showed the D/D as just over £100 but recommended a change to £8  :)

Signed up with Octopus yesterday, and by the evening they've done all the necessary checks. They're expecting to start supplying energy on the 1st of February.
My gas meter reading wasn't updated properly in my Scottish Power account (same thing saying it was last taken some time around 1902 and it was 0000), contacted SP on Facebook yesterday, asking to update my meter reading to a correct one, they sorted it today and now both my meter readings are fine.

In a few days it should move to the final stage "All done! 🎉 We're officially your energy supplier from ...", at that point they have confirmation that their request to take over your supply has been successful.

I still can't see electricity meter number when I click provide readings., and gas is with the same date as others - 1902 with no readings
Can actually anyone see proper readings?

It's quite clear from the number of reports here that the gas readings have not been loaded into the Scottish Power database yet.  This could be for a number of reasons, but nobody really knows for certain.  A few people have contacted SP customer service and they've manually updated the accounts.

The reason for the nonsense date of 1902 will be to do with the way the database and website is set up.  The web interface is expecting a reading value and a date, it's getting neither which is why it's defaulting. I'm sure the app showed a different (but equally nonsense) date.

Worth keeping in mind that SP have not invited YE customers to set up their online account yet.  Those who have set up have done it via the backdoor by taking the account number from their DD, or getting their account number from SP CS.

I used the SP email of December 7th as my cue to start a switch to Neon Reef that day for my electricity, many daily one star reviews on trust pilot for SP.com and SP.co.uk made me think I was doing the right thing, having read through the last one hundred or so pages on here confirms their total inability to run an energy company.  I never gave my DD info to SP and my switch to Neon Reef completed on 3rd January without hearing anything more from SP. Incidentally Neon Reef have now offered to pay £25 to myself and to a new customer should I reccomend them, the way other companies such as Octopus do albeit for more money.
