Fayolle - just because hugs received and greatly appreciated thank you xx
Round 1 completed + I'm dressed, had breakfast, done a laundry shuffle and draped contents of WM on to radiators and airer. Two towels that DS had at Uni put with clean. dry, clothes waiting to be picked up by DS. Charcoal stuff for cleaning teeth fer-lung as requested by DS. (Every little helps)
Letting agent told GF she could get rid of the mail for previous tenants of the property - I suggested that if it was returned to sender it would eventually stop coming, and said I'd sort it as there is rather a lot and DS and GF have enough to do. Guess what I found - addressed to the landlord, care of the letting agent, at the property address - debt recovery letters from SSE for gas and leccy. That explains why SSE insisted on fitting a pay as you go meter! Messaged DS to let him know and that I would forward the letters to the Letting Agent. DS rings me in a panic- will they cut off our electricity? No - you are not responsible for the former tenant's debts, you have your own account with SSE. You did open an electricity account with SSE when you sorted out the gas account on Friday didn't you? Erm no!!!! Job for DS to do tomorrow - ring DSS and check that electricity account is sorted.....
....paused there as DS arrived. He is totally overwhelmed: shoulder, tissues and reassurance provided and I've sent him on his way. I've told him that the door is open day or night, not to bottle things up, and everything will work out. The son of one of my colleagues committed suicide recently - it brings home how fragile our young people are. I don't ever want DS to feel that he has no-where to turn.
Right - cheese on toast for me, then I'm going to write my Flylady Christmas cards.

And the water feed for their WM doesn't work. GF's dad is doing it so I'm guessing he knows what he's doing. But I've suggested that they check it's not just switched off somewhere.
DS doesn't know yet but when he's here tomorrow - working from here until they get the broadband sorted - we are writing a list of snags and ticking what is sorted and what needs sorting. Maybe then DS will get some sleep!
My Dad phoned me as I was halfway through eating my cheese on toast - luckily I don't mind cold cheese on toast. That's the fourth time he's phoned this week and mostly he tells me the same each time. I'm used to the repetition but the increased number of calls is ringing alarm bells. (No pun intended). I think he's just fed up with the weather and the whole covid set up but I'll keep an eye on him - regular phone calls in that direction required methinks.
I feel the need for Jaffa cakes.

Hello everyone. I have been up since 6.00 and by breakfast time my Flylady cards were ready for posting tomorrow. Went to freezing cold church and when I sang (I was "the choir", so unmasked) it was dragon's breath. Just thawing out now with a mug of coffee and some gingerbread.
Today's other jobs to be done:
- FUPA clean washing
- make soup for lunch - something really spicy to warm us up!
- do some more tidying in the study while the soup is cooking
- unpack and check over my replacement mixer
- Rosie's walk: it is horribly wet and misty outside and I am hoping that she will not want to be out for long
- more tidying!
- cut a poster to fit the frame that DD gave me for my birthday
- print labels and see how many Christmas cards I still need
Keep warm and dry, if you can! xx7 -
I forced myself up and out, and spent 1.5 very muddy hours at the allotment. Haven’t seen my wellies quite so muddy for a while. Quite pleased that I managed to bring some veggie bits home for the week - pak choi, leeks, a cabbage, some carrots and some curly kale. Fridge wiped out and sorted to get the veg in.
Other bits done:
laundry shuffle
dw running
wultd
HHI turned into QHI
carrot soup made for lunch in the week.
I still haven’t managed to see what presents I need to buy or write the cards. Not sure that is going to happen this afternoon now.
Now fantasising about gingerbread, now that Iona has mentioned it!8 -
