Welcome to the weekly Flylady
thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it
comes to housework then come and join us.
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady
idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can
be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here
on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task
easier and quicker. We also accept that, sometimes, life just gets on top of us
and we can't keep up, maybe because we're time-poor, not in the best of health
and/or we have littlies who need us. We are definitely NOT control freaks
aiming for perfection and utterly spotless show-homes.
You're more than welcome to join us in the
everlasting battle against dust, grime and gibble. The aim of our thread is to
make those onerous tasks less daunting, and to support each other - and to make
time for the finer things in life!
Please do remember we have to abide by MSE
rules; each post should, ideally, include some mention of flying.
Thank you to Valli for last week’s thread..
There are 3 levels per day with depending on
how much time you have. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal
circumstances.
Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about
catching up.
These lists are only suggestions and not a must
do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.
Also adding a declutter mission each day will
help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.
A few of the basics before we start the week:
Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things
follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis
like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds,
vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the
morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish &
swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus
personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and
whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish,
recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering
your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a
sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily
basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes
to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other
music may be used if you prefer!

I'm in. Two days to fly this week. And I need to stop finding "other" things to do. I mean procrastinating bread making is going too far...
I have, however, made good progress with paperwork this evening.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear7 -
Thanks for the lists. I have finished both my courses so need to really crack on with report writing this week as I am behind. However the card writing and knitting is more or less on track.
Today's post-church Zoom coffee was talking about arrangements for Christmas. Seems we are joining in a national doorstep carol service, having a type of carol service in church but we aren't allowed to sing, plus there is a midnight service in the actual church for Christmas eve - so that will need the other 2 'cleaners' and I, who are also the flower arrangers and tree decorators, to scratch our heads over whether we can do the preparation together as we will be well distanced in the church. Christmas day service is combined with one of our sister villages, held in the neighbouring village church so not my responsibility.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Morning all. Thanks for the list. Just having a cuppa and will then make a start on Mondailies before breakfast.
Have a fantastic day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -

Good morning all,
Thank you for the lists and for all the hard work that goes into them, Natty and Valli. I’m in.
Today is another day off to use up leave. The towels are in the wm, dinner is out of the freezer. I will try for level 1 as today is Admin and odd job day - I’m putting it out there so that I am accountable to you all for actually doing it and not procrastinating for all of the day. Some of the odd jobs are on today’s Extra list, so that’s a bonus.
Have a lovely day all, back later x7 -
Morning all,
Thank you for the lists and more importantly the motivation. Kitchen and dining room are perfect for me today as OH working from home in the library (which is part of the living room). I need to go out to the chemist today but I think that's about it.
Bedroom basics done (bed made, clothes picked up, windows been open)
Living room basics done (cushions straightened, bits and bobs taken to their homes)
Kitchen tidy (OH did DW, I've just put away WU and wiped surfaces)
See you later

Living room dusted of a fashion, breakfast being scoffed.Spend less now, work less later.8

Morning xx
It's raining! DS has taken GF to work and will return home to work at the kitchen table. I'm sat in my dressing gown having a brew. My bed is made - and I did 'something' to my back when I leaned over to plump up the pillows. Quite a painful 'something' - one of those where you freeze and don't know which way to move in case it hurts again. Anyhoo I unfroze and came down to make a brew - carefully lol.
I've brought down the Advent calendars - one each for my 'personal shopper' friend and her OH, one each for DS and GF, and, oh look, I bought another one by mistake - that one must be mine thenCan't waste it (mse and all that)
Round 1 =
breakfast and brew 2
get dressed
feed the birds
put out the recycling
WUDUPA
laundry shuffle
bring down laundry hamper & sort contents
set WM swishing
Have a good week
