to be honest i am really surprised amazon hasn't refunded you. it's a company with great customer service and provides refund in minutes if you have issues with products (no asking details of problem, sending photo/video etc). are you not a prime member? prime members are treated much better in terms of returns/refunds. also i suppose you probably don't have great history with amazon, otherwise 200+ pounds is no big deal for them. i personally don't think amazon will close your account if you raise chargeback or section 75, its a very big company, closing account for such trivial thing seems unnecessary - unless you have bad/similar history. if its first time i believe it could just be a warning at best. if i were you i would not care of closing the account if my story was true.
What evidence do you have of this?

i should have added - personal experience.

Oddly after having similar but wrong items delivered last month (previous post in this thread), I have had exactly the same happen yesterday from Amazon (or is it).  OH was wanting a new pretend Christmas Tree.  She had seen the exact one she wanted, which I admit is quite lifelike.  Ordered it from Amazon on Tuesday, it arrived yesderday and while its a 7ft slim tree its not the same model. Its a model which sells for less on Amazon.   I have contacted them yesterday and started the process of getting the right one.  What I can't get from them is who actually supplied me with the tree.  It appears its from a third party but they are being a bit hesitant on letting me know who actually picked and posted it.
I am having to deal with the 3rd party for the next 48 hours who so far have asked for and been sent photos of the box (its unopened).  I have pointed out to Amazon that this is now twice in the past month that something they insist doesn't happen has happened.  I just want to return the wrong tree and get the correct one.  Don't want any more or less than that.

Update.  Firstly the 3rd party insisted they had sent the correct thing.  If was 7ft and slim what more did I want.  I did point out that it wasn't the same thing just because it was the same size.  They then tried to claim it was the same thing but different brand.  Again rubbish it wasn't.  Finally they tried to blame Amazon for putting the wrong details against what they were really selling.
I stopped communicating with them and went back to Amazon, who apologised. Gave me back my money immediately and told me to keep the tree.
Its off to a charity shop tomorrow and I will rebuy the correct one from somewher else..

I think it likely the seller substituted a cheaper/lesser tree because they'd run out off the original then failed to update the product description, hoping they'd get away with it.  Reading reviews over the years it's obvious that sellers are often guilty of this.  I think there's a report wrong description button somewhere.

I think you will be right.  What bothers me most about this whole thing is that the companies ratings are only 81% and that is from many sales not just a few.  I did ask Amazon why on earth they were allowing such a poorly rated company to be part of their sales process?   I lot of people will think they are just buying from Amazon and not via a third party.  I don't have a bit gripe with Amazon as such. They handled it well, gave me the goods and money back without me asking for anything.   Mind you I did the recent show me everything Amazon knew about me and all my orders and given the size of files and orders it shocked me the amount I use them.

I’m a long time, and very frequent,  Amazon user.  Got Prime etc.  I have never had any problems with the items I’ve ordered, until  last year.

I ordered my husband a new IPod, as  his old one had given up..   A parcel arrived, the next day, undamaged, and handed to me by our regular courier.  When I opened it, the box contained a packet of C10 batteries, but no IPod.

I knew I couldn’t prove a thing, but phoned Amazon customer services and explained.  I acknowledged that I couldn’t prove a thing, but that I was telling the truth!

The girl went away for a few minutes, came back, and said she would email me a form that I had to print off, fill out by hand, sign and scan back to them.  It was a legal looking form, to confirm that I hadn’t received the IPod, that the box was undamaged, and what was in the box. I also had to confirm that I’d return the IPod if it did arrive.   I did this, and a few hours later, they sent me a return label, and a little invoice to put inside the parcel.  They told me as soon as they received the batteries back, they would send out another IPod.

Which they did...so I don’t know why their response seems erratic with other people.

I found them to be more than reasonable.  Whether that was to do with my previous shopping history, I don’t know.
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Why not take the OP in good faith? Seen that quite a bit on here from people asking for help. If you don't want to help, then just don't.

Not everyone is out to swindle someone. Numerous replies in here showing that Amazon do make those mistakes as well.
Thanks so much. All i said is the truth, i can't control if people don't believe me, thanks to those who do or have an open mind.
Read online people receiving random items instead of PS5's from Amazon so it's still happening people receiving wrong items.

To me it is considerably less likely that you yourself would have two remotes exactly the same bagged up to switch for a phone, than it is that an Amazon employee somewhere down the line, who has access to multiple of such things, swap the phone for those.

    Hope you get it sorted.
