Amazon refusing to refund for wrong item delivered that I returned.

Hi, I was sent earphones instead of mobile phone i ordered(£229.00) agent asked me to send photos which I did then to return. This was over a month ago. Since a week ago I've been trying to get refund via live chat but they refuse to refund me and keep asking me to return right item which I never received. Have contacted them via social media and email with no luck. They say shipping weight was correct for weight of phone. But I told them what they sent me could be same weight. It also came with two remotes as well as earphones. Amazon box was sealed. Any advice what to do welcome.

Have they accepted that you have returned something to them? What do they say you have returned?
How did you return the item? Do you have a proof of posting?
Have you kept the photos of the earphones & the remotes? Was there anything else in the box or packaging (e.g. a paper manual) that would account for the  weight?
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • Amazon themselves, or marketplace seller - there is a difference.
  • Hi, Thanks for replying.
Yes they accepted I returned something and say it was earphones in box and two remotes I sent photo of.
I returned via Royal Mail with return shipping label they sent me that I printed out.
Yes I have proof of posting and photos of earphones/two remotes.
No nothing else included in box.

    Amazon themselves.
  • Bizarre how it's always a laptop or phone that gets switched for something else - we've already had another thread about this with a laptop in the last few days.
Best of luck getting it sorted, the tricky part will be convincing Amazon that you're not one of the many scammers out there.

Could there be something amiss in the picking/packing warehouse regarding a fiddle, or am I just too suspicious?

Thanks, they emailed me today saying processing of my refund is delayed, sounded like i may be getting refunded so went on live chat to ask, they then say i won't be getting refunded and not to expect any further email's regarding the matter, terrible customer support messing me around like this.

That's a theory i have too, an order picker stealing phone and replacing with earphones and two remotes, that's a weird combo, probably so to match shipping weight of phone.

Presumably because if it happened the other way round, and you got a phone when you ordered headphones, you'd be a lot less bothered about getting the correct order sent out, and Amazon would be much quicker to assist.
  • Amazon security is incredibly tight, so the odds that all these "missing" phones and laptops being stolen in the warehouse is about the same as winning the lottery. Of course, parcels go missing all the time and given the sheer amount that Amazon sell, it's bound to happen at some point. No doubt the OP will tell us shortly that Amazon have miraculously fixed the issue and paid them compo for their distress.
