Hi to all SPCers!! Keep clear of any showers, and don't rely on the following week!

Any of our dear members who are either ill or low in any way, please do take great care, and I sincerely hope you'll all soon be well and back with us. For now, take great care and be kind to yourselves. 3

Thanks so very much Siju, I quite agree just how much we all benefit from time away, no matter how long or short it is. We'll be living off of those memories for a good long while!

I'm so pleased your DS and his fiancée are nestled in their home expecting the joy a nestling will provide, such beautiful memories.
It'll be lovely for you to have the one your Mum lovingly made for you ❤️ and your DD and then to have to pass it on for your youngsters to enjoy. ❤️
I knitted a lovely pram/pushchair cover for my DD when she was expecting their first, I even embroidered flowers and leaves on, and if I say so myself, it was beautiful! Where it is now after 5 DGC have used it I've no idea.

It'll be lovely for you to enjoy making things now! I'm also much better at knitting than crochet, I still can't quite get the tension right.
£5.51 is still a very good amount of potting!

Thank you so much for your lovely welcome back, Ant, so kind of you.
I'm surprised you don't think many people don't go to the Highlands! We started the first time going camping near Fort William with our DS & his wife, and although there's a great deal to see there we always zigzag right up to the top and marvel at the beauty everywhere. We're keen Birders and so many birding friends go there every year, to Skye and &&&&& too. I've never yet seen anywhere so beautiful!
Until a few years ago we had an  older Ford Galaxy which DH did up with a kitchen at the back, it was brilliant and saved on accommodation.
Whereabouts did your Dad come from?
Great potting! Good luck with the break being everything you want!!

Oh no, little_sweetie!! I remember you telling me all about those selfish so and so's! 😡 I'm so sorry to hear you've been forced to sell up, and that you and G have suffered so much as a result of it all. I sincerely hope the bungalow gives you as much pleasure as the house has. Right now it sounds as though you have so much on your plate, especially money wise.

Life throws you lemons alright, though I bet you'd like to see your neighbour have to suck every darned one!!! 👹😡 You take very good care of yourself A, G, too, and do please get in touch even if only to vent. I dearly hope you have the sweetest neighbours possible living next door to you soon ☺️☺️ xx A few words down below too xx

Hello Westie, you're not the only one needing to keep away from social media for the sake of your health I promise you. I haven't been near Facebook or Twitter for weeks, and right now I don't intend going back! If it all becomes too much, come on SPC and give vent.
Take great care of yourself xx

You too eh littlle_sweetie!!! Keep chatting to us here at SPC, A

I'm so pleased you had a break at Bournemouth, jakes-mum. Not far from where DH & I were born and raised at Ringwood.
So sorry to hear about your DD, poor lass! I wonder if the school is fearful of not achieving the necessary grades, but that's no need to take it out on the youngsters, absolutely none!! 😡👹
Good to hear about Harley, she'll grow up when she's about 7!! 🤩

Excellent potting, Lost!! My, doesn't time ever fly, it'll be October soon enough! 😉
I was a good girl at school. 🤭

Have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND folks. 🤩 Stay very safe and healthy.

    Sue xx

Agree with what people are saying about social media. It can be very unhealthy..But I agree even more with Sue when she says this is a great thread if anyone needs to vent or get general frustrations off their chest.  Never seen a cross word or anything even close to an argument on the Sealed Pot Challenges. It’s a very supportive thread and you set the perfect example of kindness for us all to follow Sue.
Ss for the Highlands… I could go on all night if you let me. My Dad was born not far past Gairloch. Don’t know if you’ve ever got to the beach on Melon Udrigle? Beautiful perfect blue sea and often it feels like you have the whole beach to yourself. A place so remote that they used nearby Gruinard Island to test anthrax as there were so few people about.
What a culture shock for Dad and his family having to move south to a big City all those years ago.
Ooh potting, that’s what this thread is about isn’t it? I’ve potted a few more pounds today. Opening day is getting ever closer.
Have a good rest of weekend folks. Enjoy the football if that floats your boat

Thank you Sue, if only everyone was as kind as our SPCers seem to be then the world would be much nicer place wouldn't it.  The annoying thing is that our young neighbours on the other side are lovely, it's just a shame that they are not the ones attached to our house.  It's a young/new estate so we expected young couples as well as children as neighbours, we just didn't expect to have a selfish witch who cares for no one but herself
    :s Anyway....

AntoMac, yes this is a lovely thread and has helped me to save for a number of years now.  Our beloved Sue is an example to us all on how to be kind to each other :)
Unfortunately, no potting to report but I've enjoyed reading about Scotland!  My paternal grandfather was Scottish and I have longed to tour the country but never managed more than Edinburgh  :'(  Perhaps one day.....

It's pouring with rain here at the moment so nice and fresh.
Happy potting everyone.  Have a great Sunday x

Unfortunately little_sweetie it can be a bit of a lottery who we get as neighbours. How people can be so disrespectful to those living next to them is beyond me. Hopefully your new home will be your dream home. Keep us updated on progress.
Edinburgh’s a lovely city by the way, but nothing at all like the Highlands. There were never any noisy neighbour issues up there with the houses scattered so far apart.
Still waiting here for the rain. Considering whether to take Mum to some open gardens today but it’s supposed to pour down. First world problems eh? Hopefully the cream teas will be undercover at least!

Hello, I’ve potted £4.32.  Spent most of the weekend batch cooking to make life easier during the week.  Made a rhubarb and strawberry crumble, all home grown, which was rather nice.  We have had a lot of thunder and rain this afternoon so Hetty has been shaking for hours poor thing.  Well off to do all the clearing up from the cooking 🙂

  • Yes, AntoMac, we certainly drew the short straw with her.  In almost 50 years of marriage and several house moves (including to an apartment in Canada) we have never met anyone so selfish and uncaring before.  A remote cottage in the Highlands sounds very appealing!  :D
I hope you managed to take your mum out yesterday.  A cream tea sounds wonderful !

Hi Potters, hope you are all keeping well and dodging the showers!  My oh my, when it rains, it's absolutely torrential.

Must agree with the others, SPC is a great support, no judgements or arguments here, thank goodness :) Our Sue-UU always manages to make everyone feel welcome and valued with her encouraging posts.  Well done to all our lovely potters  o:)

Had a battle last Friday with the hedges at MIL and FIL's house - got a few bramble scars to prove it  :s  Nevertheless, it's all done now and they are happy.  Hoping for a less hazardous weekend to come when DH and I go to a private scan to see baby number 1 with DS and his fiancé.   Then we are off pram shopping with them and DD and DSIL.  It's going to be an expensive weekend, I think!  Can't wait though

Another week goes by and another £7.87 in my pot.  Enjoy the rest of the week Potters, stay safe.  xx

Hey all just popping by to say hi; it’s been a while.  2021 is a busy year.  I’ve taught myself to knit, I’m completing a charity run of 874 miles, I’m off work thanks to poor mental health and now my landlady has sold the house so we need to be out by September.  Unfortunately Sue that means I’ve had to empty my sealed pot to scrimp for a deposit for new rental.  I’ll update my signature once bagged and banked.  On the plus side my in laws were frauded out of 30k two years ago and I managed to win the battle for this to be returned to them and interest of course.  So not all pants.

Hopefully things calm down and I can pop by more. Although with cbt and a bullying complaint to be started we shall see.

    Hope you’re all well.

Hi to all SPCers!! Keep clear of any showers, and don't rely on the following week!

Hi Ant,  there are certainly some grand and quite justified comments you and the others and said about our beloved SPC thread. I honestly can't remember one cross word that's even been posted here, quite something given the time we've been running!
Although, I understand what you mean about me being supportive and an example of great kindness, the same has to be said of us all, and I truly mean that and appreciate it as it make things so much more enjoyable for all, easier for me too. We're a superb team and always here for one another, we all have great sympathy and empathy for all "the rest of the family", and thankfully I can never see that failing!

Back to Scotland Ant, oh how we love the Gairloch area, our first ever B&B, a hard bed, but gorgeous breakfast and a really lovely lady, who even sent on us with goodies to keep us going!!  We also saw our first Red-throated Diver 😯 there too!! A gorgeous diving bird for all our non Birder friends. ☺️
Neither of us can recall seeing the name Melon Udrigle, but I can well believe how blue the sea is there, as most of the coastline in the Highlands is, not choking with bodies and who knows what 🥺such as everywhere else.
Very interesting to hear about the Gruinard Island anthrax testing, but that's what we adore about being there, the peace is astounding at first, a fantastic place! ☺️ A culture shock indeed for your Dad when he discovered life here!! 🤭
Well done with whatever you've potted Ant!! Football doesn't exactly float my boat but Wimbledon definitely does, especially this year after the missing out of it last year.

I quite agree with all you've said, little_sweetie, so many younger neighbours as would be expected, kiddies too which can be wonderful, just a sad shame your neighbour has that streak about her which makes her so very unpleasant!! Totally unlike your other neighbours who are so lovely. All the best with your new neighbours, A, let's hope they're similar to your lovely ones.
I really hope you and G can tour the Highlands some time, it's amazing! All the very best A xx
PS. An apartment in Canada in your younger years eh 😯 wonderful!

Hi Hetty, a great idea to do batch cooking at the weekend to buy you more time in the week. Your poor Hetty reminds me of our darling Jack Russell, Ginny, we have in the 80's, it was so sad to see her quivering like mad, she was so much 'safer' when on our laps.
    Great potting!

Bless you too for your very kind words, Siju, but I still feel it must be the SPC family being the glue that keeps the entire thread together, and for that a huge thank you! 🤗
It sounds as though that hedge must have been a right blighter for you, but at least it's done now...til next time! Sorry, not nice at all.🙄
I've never heard of a private scan before, or should that be private viewing! 🤔 What a wonderful time and so nice they're including you so much. I bet you can barely wait, and then the pram to buy too - magical! Enjoy every second.
    Brilliant potting Siju!

Hello Hicksy, I'm so sorry life is treating you so rotten right now. It's so sad to hear you've had mental health problems too, and to top that your landlady is selling the house, what rotten timing!! 😡
Don't worry about needing to use your SPC money, that's quite understandable given your circumstances. If you've any idea how much it is then please put it on your signature do you can declare it with the rest of us.
Oh my, your poor In-laws, though how fortunate you were able to get it back to them!! Excellent work Hicksy!! 🤗
All very best wishes to you with the CBT and the bullying claim! I hope your little treasures are both well. Don't forget to update us with your news, especially if you manage to get accommodation, I do hope so.
Keep knitting as it's good therapy for you, the charity run too!
    Take great care xx

Sorry to be do late, folks.
It might come as news that I just love Wimbledon, so I've been watching a lot of that.
However, right now DH is having awful problems with his back, this is the 2nd bout in 2 weeks and he's in a very bad way. He's unable to take anymore Zappain (Co codamol), the Dr also prescribed him Diazapam, but although it was relaxing his back a little, it's made him feel so ill and dizzy and that's taking one at night!! We've to somehow take him to the hospital for x-rays in the morning but won't know the resultd until next week.
He's suffered all through our marriage having fallen off a farm trailer in his teens. Our former Dr used to inject him with Pethadine, which was marvelous, sadly they don't do that nowadays, the Dr didn't even see him this time, like a lot of us are finding, remote appointments will be hard to get away from. 🙄

Have a good Friday and WONDERFUL WEEKEND folks. 🤩

    Stay very safe and healthy.

    Sue xx

Your poor husband Sue. To have all that pain must really wear him down. I really hope something can be found to help him.
I love Wimbledon too by the way. Have entered the ballot for tickets a few times without luck.
It’s a shame that a few people have needed to use their pots early, but what a blessing to have those savings as a kind of emergency fund.
hickles69 that’s a great result covering the 30K. Hope life improves for you. One of my favourite sayings is ‘Not every day is good, but there is good in every day,
I’ve potted some more travel savings.
Hope the England football team do it this weekend.
